Chapter 18|Alex didn't see that coming huh
(Brook's POV)
I woke up last night and heard Salem claws hit the hard wood floor and the door creek. I opened my eyes just enough to see Bri walk in. She was probably at the pond again. But why is she smiling so wide? Oooooh did she see him!? She hops on her bed and starts drawing. My eye lids can't stay open any longer and close as I drift back to sleep.
(Alex's POV)
I drag myself out of bed and get dressed in a green T-shirt and black shorts. I hear a knock at the door and I go to open it before the guys wake up. When I get to the door no one is there. I see a piece of paper on the door frame and take it off. It's a sketch of the pond and me and Bri hugging. I flip it over and see writing.
Wanna get ice cream after breakfast?
-Bri
I grin and put the drawing in my pocket.

Why is this line so long?! How long does it take to tell someone you want one or two pancakes? I get my pancakes and put syrup and butter on it. I search the swarming crowd for Bri and see her sitting outside in the grass. "Hey," I wave sitting down. "Who said you can sit here?" She jokes. Her smile is beautiful. She wears her signature black leather jacket and black and purple combat boots with a black shirt that had the Deathly Hallows symbol in gold on the front and denim shorts. Her vibrant purple hair had a thin braid on the long side. "I saw your picture," I grin and she smiles wide. We finish our pancakes and head to the ice cream hut in the Common. "Two chocolates?" I ask and Bri nods. I take the cones and pay before Bri could. "Hey! No way I asked!" She argues "Too late!" I grin and laugh as she pouts. "Ya know," she says swallowing a mouth full of ice cream. "Three of my friends can't eat this," she shakes her head. "For real?!" I ask she nods. "Brook is lactose intolerant, Sadie is allergic to coco powder, and Hannah is allergic to everything under the sun," she explains and giggles. I could listen to that all day. "So you said you are working on a scholarship? What are you wanting to do?" I ask. "I want to go to OSU and be a Vet, but I also want to take literature and art," she answers and smiles. "What about you?" I think a little bit and reply "I want to teach, but after college I think a wanna join the army." "That's awesome!! My mom teaches and my dad served!!!" She smiles wide. "Uh how about siblings?" I ask. "I have a little sister and a little brother. Both are athletic, like the rest of my family," she looks at the ground again and I can see a flicker of sadness in her eyes. "I have two older sisters and an older brother. I am the youngest in a family of super serious business men and women. They say following endeavors such as writing and teaching are useless and will get you nowhere! Yet alone combat!" I say in a fancy voice imitating my parents. "Yea... You just feel like you are letting them down. Like you can't live up to their expectations," she says still looking at the ground. I look at her sad hazel eyes. "How could you disappoint anyone? You are perfect! You are smart, talented, sweet, beautiful, and you have this way to make anyone feel better!" I tell her and she looks up. "You think I'm beautiful?" She asks quietly. "Yea. Because you are," She smiles and I move my hand on top of her's. "Ok enough sappy stuff, I wanna show you something," she grins but I can still see the flicker of sadness in her colorful eyes. We stand up and I sling my arm around her solders. She takes me to a blank cement wall. "It's just asking to be painted isn't it?" Bri asks with a sly smile. I notice spray paint at the bottom. "Yea it is,"

We stand back to admire our work. We did a painting of the camp at sunset over the lake and the cabins. At the bottom four girls and a boy are standing with their arms around each other's shoulders. A tall blond with a blue T-shirt on the far left, a short brunette with a pink razorback, a tall brunette with a red tank, a brunette dude in a green muscle T, and a purple short haired girl in a black long sleeve leather jacket. All looking at the sunset. The painting is supposed to show the diversity of the camp. On the other side of the slab is the pond in the forest at night with a silvery doe and a silvery buck at the water's edge. At Rhe bottom in silver paint says Always in cursive. "We done good Alex, we done good. Now, let's get outta here before someone sees us!" She takes off. "What?! We aren't-!! WAIT UP!!!" I shout and chase after her. I finally find her at the pond laying on her back looking at the trees with her feet in the water. "This is our spot huh?" I ask smiling and sitting by her head. "Yea," she says airily and yawns. "Sleepy, Bat?" I tease. "Uh huh," she replies, apparently not minding the nickname. I smile at her. "Than take a nap, little Bat," I whisper as she curls up into a ball. I smile and stroke her colored hair as her breathing slows telling me she fell asleep. I look up and realize we had been together all day. I lay down a way away from her to give her space. My side grows warm and I turn my head to see that Bri has curled up beside me. I carefully slip my arm under her head and rest my hand on her shoulder. "I love you," I whisper quietly.
(Brook's POV)
I smile and almost tear up as I look down at my fri- aw screw it, my friend and her new boyfriend beside the pond they quickly fall asleep as it is late and I walk back to the cabin with Salem at my heels.
