A realistic dream

"So... Um..... You see, we are twin brothers. His name is Hans..." Cyril started, "You see, we have been very close to each other not only because we were twins but also because we only had each other"

"I am sorry, it must be hard to not have parents," I said feeling bad for him, I now understand why he was so concerned about his brother.

"Who said I didn't have parents..." Cyril asked looking up at me.

"well-er- um.... didn't you say that you only had each other"

"I did but, I didn't say I didn't have parents" Cyril again pointed out.

Idiot don't you understand, he did have parents but, they always fought. That's what he must've meant by having each other.

"I get you now... still having your parents fighting can be traumatizing. You must be worried how your brother must be handling this alone" I say sympathetically.

I looked up at him, hoping to see a sad face. I wanted to console him but, instead, I saw him giving me a look that looked as if I had my screws loose.

"Are you alright Dylan, did you have another fall while you were on the mission?" he asked.

"Nope, why..." I asked confused.

"Because it looks like you did..... or are you just making assumptions to piss me off," He asked suspiciously.

"No-no, not at all. I am sorry please continue don't mind me" I said hurriedly.

I mentally face palmed myself, I should've listened to him before making assumptions.

"Well just for the record my parents aren't dead. They are just..... busy" he said pausing a little at the end.

"busy," I asked urging him to be specific.

"Well you see my father for most of his life is abroad working, he rarely comes to meet us. And whenever he does comes it just for a week or two"

"Does he live alone there?" I asked, not knowing what else to say. I myself hadn't seen much of my father.

"Yep..." he said with a nod "... As for mother, she works at a bank and that's why she isn't home much either. So you see we both are by ourselves mostly," he said leaning back.

"I see now, what you meant by the thing that you only had each other," I say not knowing what else to say.

"I can't think how he must be doing, how he must've reacted to the news of my disappearance," he said with a sigh.

"He must be fine, he has aunty to look after him. I wouldn't worry much about him" I tried consoling.

"You are right, but still I can't help think about him. We were very close"

I just nodded lost for words, I tried to pat his back, which ended up being awkward.

"I want to get out of this world as quickly as possible. Even if this means I have to survive by killing all the other callens" he said and I did a double-take.

Maybe he didn't realize what he was saying, he wasn't even looking at me when he said that but, I suddenly felt uncomfortable.

He suddenly looked up at me and I moved back a little in fright.

"What about Matt, tell me something about him," he said tiredly.

"Matt wh...." I was about to say then I stopped myself remembering what I had said to him.

He was eyeing me now doubtfully.

"Um- Matt... he-he is abroad for engineering," I said hesitantly.

"Is he your older brother?" Cyril asked still looking at me.

"Yes," I said with a weak nod.

"How old is he," he asked looking straight at me now.

"Twenty o.... six," I said telling the first number that came to my mind.

"Why did......." he began his next question just as quickly as before.

"Um-Cyril it's... uh... quite late already don't you think so. I think I should be leaving" I said getting up.

He looked at me for a long time, I gulped tensely. Then he nodded and went to sleep his back towards me.

Gratefully I went to the door and quickly went out shutting the door behind me.

If you'd had stayed there any longer then he surely would've caught up with the lie.

"I know," I said absent-mindedly that wasn't the thing going through my mind right now.

Another thing had started to worry me. Something that Cyril had told me in there was bothersome. Then it clicked, and suddenly I could feel my palms go sweaty.

You thinking about Cyril's resolution to kill anyone in order to go back to his place alive

That was exactly what I had in my mind right then. He had clearly stated he would kill anyone- anyone, including me. I chill went down my spine as I thought that.

Don't worry yourself, it's not going to happen. How will he even stand a chance against the three of you.

He had a point there but it provided little comfort, knowing that Matt could barely kill and it was the same case with Ace.

It's not like they were getting special training that Cyril was going through here in the palace.

I think you should've told them to come here

"No, you were right. If I call them here they would be in more danger than out there" I said in a determined tone.

You are right

"That just leaves us with one choice... Which is for me to train hard and get stronger so that I can take on Cyril when the time comes"

That is if he isn't killed first in one of the missions.

I nodded, suddenly a thought popped up in my mind. When will I go on a next mission, not that I was eager to kill or something. I admit traveling had its own perks.

Also, I admit, I have developed quite a liking to my bike. I had never ridden a bicycle at my place because I wasn't that active. It was such an exciting experience.

Lost in thoughts I didn't see where I was going. That was the reason why it took me some time to see the difference.

I looked around myself to see various machines, equipments on the sides. There was a log in front of me.

I know that I was somewhere at the back of the garden because I was walking in the garden before I reached here.

Curiously I looked around, taking time to look at everything. There were various exercising equipments, there was a practice dummy, a target board. On one side there were rows of wights. Behind the log in front of me, I could see red lines on the ground, it looked like marking some sort of practice area.

As if that all wasn't enough, opposite to the row of weights on my other side at the end was a row filled with weapons of all sorts from sword-shields to spear-mace.

I curiously took a step ahead when suddenly a bird's cry pierced through the park startling me.

I looked up to see a few bats flying just close above my head, that was enough for me to turn on my hills and get out of there. I ran past the toppling trees and into the familiar territory of the garden. From there I didn't stop and kept running.

By the time I made it to my room I was breathing loudly. I went to my bed and fell down tired.

What was that place, why was it there. Does anyone know about it? All sorts of questions were running through my mind. I decided to go and check it out first thing in the morning.

***

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was again on the same spot, past the overlapping trees.

I blinked my eyes a few times to make sure that I wasn't dreaming of something.

It's not a dream dung head.

"I know but, then where did all those things go," I said looking aghast at the empty clearing in front of me.

There was nothing there, no machine, equipments, wights, or weapons like the night before.

"Was It a dream"
