"Violet, time for your tribunal!" Mom shouts from the stairs.
"Well, time for my doom," I say with a smile.
Dex looks concerned that I'm not worried about my tribunal.
"Don't worry Dex, I'll be fine. They're probably going to exile me anyway, so why have a tribunal?" I say, trying to lighten the mood. I guess I'm more like Keefe than I thought.
Dex's eyes start watering. I motion for Keefe and Marella to leave. Keefe looks confused, so Marella takes charge.
"Come on, we should probably prepare your parents for the tribunal," Marella says, dragging Keefe out of the room.
"But why do they-" Keefe starts.
Marella dragged Keefe out of the room before he could finish.
Dex looks confused, but he starts talking anyway.
"Violet, if you get exiled, I'm going to be sad, and I know I sound childish, but I just met you, and we haven't had much time together, and-"
I cut him off. "Dex, calm down. I won't be exiled forever. Probably."
Dex doesn't seem convinced, but he stops blubbering anyway. I wipe his face and stare at him. Who would have thought that Dex, of all people, would be crying over me? You would think it would be someone who I've known longer.
Dex starts to turn red after I wipe his tears. Because of that, I hugged him. Sure enough, he turns even redder.
I giggle. "Wow Dex, the slightest things make you blush, huh?"
"T-that's not true," he stutters.
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say." I smile. "Come on, let's go to my tribunal."

Looking around the room, there aren't a lot of people here. There are the Vackers, the Heks, Dex and his mom, and our family. Like I said, not that many.
A loud fanfare sounded, and all the members in the hall rose. The Councillors appeared in front of their thrones, looking regal as always.
"Please be seated," announced Councillor Emery. "Thank you for coming on such short notice. We shall begin with you, Miss Sencen."
I stand up and give a somewhat-graceful curtsy. It's not the world's best, but it's not the worst either. Oralie moved to my side, placing one hand on my shoulder, the other on my hand.
"Answer my questions honestly and there will be no problems," Emery warned.
I nodded, too worried to speak. This tribunal decides my fate, if I stay in the lost cities, or leave. I need to take this seriously.
"Did you mean to set your room on fire?"
"No," I say confidently.
Emery glanced at Oralie. She nodded.
"Did you know you were a pyrokinetic?"
"No, I had just manifested that night."
Oralie nodded.
"Did you ever try to manifest as a pyrokinetic?"
I think for a minute before answering. "No," I once thought, 'What if I manifested as a pyrokinetic?', but I was just thinking.
Oralie shook her head. I'm confused, I answered the question honestly. What happened?
"I'll ask you again, Miss Sencen. Did you ever try to manifest as a pyrokinetic?" Emery's tone takes a sharper tone.
I think. There was this one time, mom took me to Mysterium, and this guy in a shabby, purple, tent called out to me. He said he could make me manifest as whatever I want. I told my mom I wanted to go in, and she let me. I walked into the tent, and I saw rows upon rows of potions on the wall. He asked me what I wanted to manifest as, and he could try to make it happen. I told him -as a joke- that I wanted to manifest as a pyrokinetic. I was only 7 at the time, and didn't take him seriously. He then looked through the rows of potions. He found what he was looking for, and told me to drink it. Of course, I drank it. Thinking it wouldn't work, I thanked the man and left.
"Kind of," I say. I then proceeded to tell them the story of me in Mysterium.
Oralie nods, saying that I'm just confused.
Emery thinks for a moment, then says "Thank you, Miss Sencen. You may be seated."
I sit down, my legs in relief.
"Mrs. Sencen," Mom stands up from her seat. "Did you know that the merchant would be there?"
"Of course not," Mom starts. "I used to go there with Violet every other week. The merchants there usually changed."
"Did you give Miss Sencen permission to enter the tent?"
"Of course not. I told her it looked shady, but, kids will be kids."
That statement makes me angry. I have a photographic memory! I know what she said, or didn't say.
"Thank you, Mrs. Sencen."
"Keefe Sencen," Keefe stands up. "You found Miss Sencen first, correct?"
"Yes, I did. She was a wreck."
"Did anything seem strange? LIke if it seemed like she rushed into the bed?"
"If you mean do I think she was awake prior to the fire? Not at all. SHe was still asleep when I found her, and it was really hard to wake her up."
"Thank you, you may be seated."
The room fell quiet.
The Councillors debate for what feels like forever. The whole time, my friends are comforting me telling me it's going to be okay. I try my best to believe them, but I don't think I can.
"Okay, we have reached a decision. We cannot be convinced that you set your room on fire on accident, nor that you manifested as a pyrokinetic on accident. That being said, we sentence you to exile."
Gasps sound around the room as everyone looks shocked, including me. How? Why?
"Thank you for coming. This concludes the tribunal."
Hope you enjoyed! See you next chapter!
