CHAPTER 08 | AN EYE FOR AN EYE
##########################
Third Person's P.O.V:
"Oh, I'm (y/n)... wait, Gon-sama?!" (y/n) widen her red eyes, surprised at the unexpected meeting. 'He's... He's Killua's best friend!' The girl thought.
"Yes! That's me!" He held his thumbs up, and grinned slightly. "Wait, 'sama'?" Gon added.
"...Um, yes! You're Young Master--err, I mean, Killua-sama's best friend, right? Gon... Freecs, am I correct?" The black haired girl asked once again, even more shocked at the person in front of her.
"Yeah, but... why Killua-sama?" The boy tilted his head in confusion, which made (y/n) chuckle mildly.
"That's right, I haven't introduced myself properly, again." She stood straight and looked directly into his eyes. "I am (l/n) (f/n), Young Master, Killua-sama's personal butler. Nice to meet you, Gon-sama." She bowed, stated in such serious tone and face.
"N-no need to bow, (l/n)-san! And please, drop the honorific! Gon is fine," He allowed you to straighten your back, and shook off his head as he sweat dropped.
"Well, if say so," You replied.
Gon deeply exhaled as he gave off a slight smirk. "(y/n), huh..."
"Hm? Is there something wrong with my name, Gon?" You grabbed the plastic bags you were holding earlier, and questioned his response.
"...Oh, you're that (y/n)!" The boy gleamed a bright smile at you, and pointed at you with his index finger.
"Huh?" Tilting her head, she placed her fist on her waist, and narrowed her red orbs.
"You're that butler that Killua always talks about!" Gon restated.
"E-eh?! Wh-what do you m-mean by t-that??" The girl felt her ears warm up, as well with her face.
"I remember very well how he described you, (l/n)-san. He said you were a hard-working, smart, kind and a thoughtful butler to him." The boy smiled as he answered your question. "And, he also said that you were beautiful as well! Um, maybe he also mentioned you being adorable when... um, I can't remember..." As Gon recalls, you can feel your heart throbbed as the boy sprouted out those words, and kinda found it hard to believe.
"Oh, I think he said flustered," He looked at you, now that he was done recalling his memories, and there you were, flustered, per se.
"A-are you alright, (l/n)-s-san?!" He got sort of alerted once he saw your face that burnt red.
'Did he really say all of that?!' The female whispered to herself, as her disturbed mind kept bothering her heart beat.
"I-I-I'm f-fine!" You yelled as you hid your face away from Gon, and snapped your naughty thoughts out of it.
"By the way..." Gon finally changed the topic, which made you uneasy. "Where's Killua?"
(y/n) suddenly remembered the first place why she was in the market. She bit her lower lip as her grip on the plastic bags tighten.
"Well... The thing is, Gon..."
* * * *
The girl told the male all of what happened--including those mysterious creatures appeared--and Killua's condition on their way home.
"Then, the black dude appeared again earlier, handing me a piece of paper with something written on it," She addressed, as the two teens make their last turn towards Killua's room.
"He said that in three days' time, I should come in the address he gave. And only then, Killua will be free from the curse." (y/n) continued.
"How can you so sure that he'll keep his word? You don't even know where they came from; who is behind the attack, or what they really are." Gon commented as the both of you arrived on the room. You placed your left hand in your pocket, and took hold of the door's keys.
"Well," You inserted the key on the door knob, and twisted for it to be open. "My gut tells me so," You gently pushed the door; remembering that Killua is still asleep.
"Gimme those, Gon." You reached for the things he was holding, but he lifted it away from you. "It's okay, I'll put these on the kitchen, including those," He swiftly grasp what are you holding, and smiled genuinely.
"F-Fine, thank you..." His face suddenly became close with yours so you immediately let go of the bags. You knew that he didn't mean it, since he was just accidentally near. While Gon puts the plastic bags in the kitchen, you headed on Killua's bedroom.
"Knock, knock..." (y/n) imitated the sound as she really did knock, and opened the door. He was still asleep.
She smiled to herself as she soon again closed the door quietly.
"Time to cook!" You headed to the other room, as you rolled the sleeves of your shirt.
"Can I help?" Gon suggested as he grinned mildly.
"Sure," You returned a slight one too, and he followed you to the kitchen.
After a few hours, (y/n) finally achieved to make 3 good meals. She baked a chocolate chip cake--which was Killua's favorite--a miso soup for the assassin; again. And finally, a sweet blended curry for all of them to enjoy.
"It looks so delicious, (l/n)-san!" Gon's eye sparkled as he gazed at her hard work.
"I was able to finish this because you helped me, Gon." She added.
"No," The boy shook his head as he averted his eyes at her. "I didn't do anything. I just helped you in chopping of all the ingredients. You did all the tasting!"
"Well, I guess you're right," Embarrassed, she looked down as she chuckled softly.
"I'll go check on Killua," (y/n) stated as she removed her stained apron, and placed it on the laundry basket.
She headed towards the room, and as quietly as she could; (y/n) opened the door. The female walked towards the assassin as she mildly closed the door, slowly sat on the bed, and made sure that he won't wake up.
'He's still asleep... I wonder if I should wake him up...' You wondered and you observed him slowly breathe. You gently brushed away some of his silver hair away from his eyes, but he was facing the other way so you couldn't see his expression.
'I guess I'll let him sleep some more,' (y/n) thought, not noticing that her fingers slightly touched the smooth cheeks of the assassin. And that alone woke him up.
"Wait," A voice of a male interrupted your thoughts as he caught your hand into his. Killua turned around, and look at you with his half-closed blue eyes. "What is that I smell?"
"Oh," You gazed at his hand, which was grabbing your hand with care. "It's curry. You wanna eat?"
"Yeah..." He sat up slowly, still holding your hand near him.
"Um... Killua?"
"Yes?" He answers as he fixed his messy hair with his other hand.
"You can let go of my hand." You whispered as you smiled gently.
"I don't wanna." He replied, straightforwardly; which caused your face to warm up. "Um..." You hummed as he was still insisting in holding your hand.
"...Just kiddin'! Gotcha," He grinned widely as he took off his grip on your fingers and wrapped his arm around your neck, locking you in his embrace and slightly strangling you.
"Ah! Let go of me," Surprised a bit, you exclaimed with a smile. You bit his arm, which you regretted afterwards. He stopped moving, and exhaled deeply.
"Bad butler," He murmured softly, as he lets his face near your face. And next thing you know, he bit your neck, just right near below your ear.
Shivers were sent to your whole body, as soon as you felt his lips softly touched your nape.
Your instincts told you to slap him, but that bite seemed to weaken you. And so, you failed to react.
He removed his arm around you, as you gulped calmly.
"...Sorry." He placed his left hand on his lips, covering it. You turned your back on him, and squirt your eyes closed. Placing your fist on your chest, your heart throbbed. The bite wasn't that hard, so it's not because of that. It's because...of the sensation you felt as soon as those pair of soft, smooth lips of Killua touched your bare skin.
"I-It's fine..." You responded, still shaking.
"Don't... don't tell me that it's fine." He replied unexpectedly, making you avert your gaze at the boy. The light isn't on, so you couldn't see his face. Only his silver hair shone brightly despite the darkness.
"(Y/n)?" Gon's voice resonated around the room, as he called your name from the outside. Without caution, he opened the door, and turned on the lights.
"Is Killua awake?" The light blinked several times before it completely shone. As soon as the light from the bulb filled the room, you could see your face; since the table mirror is facing you. And yeah, your whole face's red, and blushing too much. You looked at Killua, and you could see his cheeks and the tip of his ears very much red as well.
"Eh? Why the two of you look so red?" Gon questioned, which made your heart raced faster.
"Gon..." Killua already settled his façade, and his face was already back to normal.
"Yo, Killua!" The boy beamed a wide smile as he waved at the assassin.
"It's been a while, Gon." Killua smiled pleasantly back at his friend. Gon's eyes glanced swiftly at you, then back at Killua.
"What's wrong, Gon?" Killua calmly asked Gon as if he was missing something.
"Wasn't your face red just now?" He asked the assassin, which got denied by him immediately.
"You're imagining things, Gon. More importantly..." Killua paused, and smirked before he wraps his arm around Gon's neck. "You look so mature now, Gon! Well, physically. Hahaha, it's been two years! And your face is still the same," Killua chuckled as he mocked his long-awaited best friend, showing a huge grin.
"I could say the same to you! Hahaha!" They laughed in an adorable manner, just like they used to do.
Killua removed his arm, and crossed his pale arms; as he deeply exhaled. "So, how did you get here?" The assassin asked, as he slowly averted his glance at you; trying not to be noticed by the boy he's conversing with.
You furrowed your eyebrows, and stuck out your tongue; as he teased you with his gaze.
"Oh, well, (l/n)-san and I bumped each other at the market. It seemed like she was short on jennies, so I lend her some." Gon explained politely, and looked at me as well. "But no need to pay me back, (l/n)-san! It's okay," The boy smiled at you, and you did the same.
"Oh." Killua hummed out as he brushed his hair upwards, exhaling once again. "Anyways, I am hungry." He stated.
"Oh, Killua, how are you feeling? How's your fever?" You were now able to speak, after what has took place. You just pretended that nothing happened; and placed it behind your thoughts.
"...I'm fine now," Killua reassured, and glanced mildly at you. "Thanks to you." He added.
Your face warmed up, as the sensation earlier came back to you. You blew a fuse, which surprised Gon; and so you threw a pillow at the silver-haired boy.
"Pervert!!" (Y/n) screamed as she aimed for Killua, but was able to dodge her attack. Gon also moved away, still in shock and unaware of what they're talking about.
"I'm just kidding, (y/n)! Hahaha!" Your 'Young Master' defended as he picked up the pack of cotton that you threw, and opened the bedroom's door. "But, I'm really fine now. No need to worry," He placed the purple wrapped pillow at the bed and smiled. "Come on Gon, I'm starving."
"Okay..." His friend nodded as Killua went out. Gon signaled you to come as well, and so, you did.
"Woah, this looks delicious! Who made this?" Killua exclaimed, and his blue eyes gleamed accordingly.
"(Y/n) did. She made it for you," Gon answered while he walked towards the assassin, with a smile; as you followed him to the table.
"Woah, so you can cook, huh?" He commented, as you and Gon sat with him.
"Of course. I mastered it while you were away, taking the exam and stuff." You added as you hand the two boys plates, spoons, forks, as well to yourself.
They both helped themselves by getting spoonful of the curry you made, and gave thanks. "Thanks for the food!" The two boys chanted before they dig in.
"Why haven't you told me that you can cook this good, (y/n)?" Killua praised you, quite enjoying his meal.
"Well..." Was all you could mutter.
Gon agreed with his best friend as they continued to eat. They even brought up a game that who eats the most will get a prize.
You giggled secretly, as you watch Gon and Killua smiling together.
* * * *
(y/n)'s P.O.V:
"Man, I'm sooo full," Killua groaned softly, as he slowly slouched at his wooden chair.
"Me too," Gon supported.
"Well, who wouldn't," I felt my right eye twitch, as I one by one collect their plates and the utensils they used. "If you just consumed 1000 worth of curry in just one hour! Jeez," Exhaling deeply, I placed the dishes on the sink, and washed my hand soap. Seriously, these guys...
"I'm heading in the bathroom first..." Gon stood up, and slowly headed towards the restroom.
I sighed once again, and remembered there's still some food left. "Oh, I forgot."
"What is it?" Killua asked as you brought the Chocolate Chip Cake that you made earlier to the glass table.
"I forgot to tell you that I prepared you a cake as well..." You scratched your head, as you stared at the fresh baked chocolate cake. "But since you're already full, I guess we can save this for tomorrow--"
"No, leave it there." The boy interrupted me from talking, and from putting it away. "There's still room for dessert," He stood up, took a ceramic, white plate, a knife and a silver, shiny fork.
"Are you sure?" I asked, as he sliced the chocolate chip cake and divided it into 8 parts.
"Yep. Besides, looking at it makes me drool, so it better be delicious," Killua placed two slices at his square-shaped plate, and sat down to eat.
"Why, of course! I practiced so hard to get the cake to taste so well for--"
"Me?" The assassin interrupted my sentence, and then gazed at me with those most dazzling eyes of his. Damn, he got me right...
"...Y-Yeah." I replied as I turned my back and headed towards the kitchen sink to wash my hands.
"I saw your face blushing! Hahaha," That damned boy yelled, as if he was announcing that he actually saw my face warm up--which is actually quite true.
"Shut up, pervert!" I shouted back with an insult, and my cheeks still very hot. But he didn't responded back. Hm... weird. I expected of him to react more violently. Oh well.
I just shrugged it off me, and continued washing my hand, also the stained utensils I used.
Minutes later, still no sign of Killua. Something's wrong... After washing and cleaning my workplace, I brushed my hair up, tied it into a pony and took the apron I have been wearing ever since I've cooked--since I forgot to take it off.
"Oi, Killua--" My words were cut off by the sight as soon as I reached the dinner table.
He's on the floor, unconscious, bits and pieces of cake surrounding him.
"K-Killua! Oi! What happened?!" I knelt down before him, and turned his body to face me. He's breathing very deeply, sweats covered his skin and his flesh very warm. "Gon! Help!" I called him out.
"Hang in there, Killua!" I grabbed his wrist and let his arms go around my nape, assisting him as I stood up with him. My other arm was at his waist, and gave support also. "Gon! Help me! Gon!" I repeated, and finally Gon shows up at the door.
"What happened to him?!" Gon exclaimed as he saw his best friend in my arms, still struggled to stand up.
"I think it's the curse! It's activating again..." The black-haired boy offered his help in carrying Killua, on the way to the bedroom. Damn it... why now? I thought it's gonna disappear since I agreed to the black guy's request...!
We brought him all the way to the bed, and when we reached it, we gently lay him down with a pillow for his head to rest on.
"You think he's gonna be alright?" Gon questioned me as he sat the chair near the bed and, while I open the air conditioner.
"Yeah... I hope so." I replied weakly, as I placed the air cooler's remote down the side cabinet. "I'm going to give his medicine, so let's hope for the best."
"You're right." Gon added as I head outside to get his meds and clean the mess the cake made.
I thought everything's gonna be alright...
While Gon looked over for Killua, I weakly dragged my whole body the medicine's destination. 'My hands are shaking. His condition is getting worse, as minutes passes by. In the end... this is all really my fault.' I whispered to myself as I search for his medication on the small bag, where I am very sure I kept it there.
"Yep, that is all your doing. Because of your stupidity, you got your precious master in grave danger."
"Ahh!" I suddenly yelped as a dark figure appeared before me, floating. He had this creepy, smug grin in his lips, as he played with the mouse in his palm. Eventually, this dark nails pierced through it, and blood started to drip out of his wrist. It's that man from before.
"It's so unfortunate that someone as strong as your Young Master is gonna die just because of Almighty Astra's simple curse. Such a shame." He stated with disdain.
"He's not going to die," I calmly countered as my hands slowly balled into a fist, crumpling the medicine in my palm.
"You can stop fooling yourself right now, (y/n). Really." He suggested with such bored, dull eyes. "You saw it with your own two eyes. One moment, he's alive and lively like a child, and then, the curse activates, making him as weak and fragile as an old man."
"He's not going to die. Not as long as I am alive. As his personal butler, I--"
"Shut your crap, (y/n). You and I know that from the start, you were never fit to protect him. You were never the personal butler you think you are right now." He walked with confidence, and trudged around me. "After all, you almost killed him."
"I... killed him?" I murmured weakly, as my voice slightly trembles. Slowly, I started to doubt myself. My head started to ache, and made it hard to breathe.
"Yes, darling. It was your fault that he's in pain right now. It must hurt a lot, you know. Poor, poor thing." The black man shook his head as if he was concerned for the assassin. "After what you did, telling and involving that young man named Gon, you just simply made the silver haired boy's life even shorter."
"...What do you mean?" I glanced at him, as he grinned widely.
"I told you that you had 3 days, right? Well, I know that you carelessly shared the information I gave you to a total stranger. What a bad, brainless girl you are. Not even thinking the consequences are gonna be. So, I shortened his time limit into... 2 days." After the last word fell out of his mouth, my knees suddenly felt weak, and so I knelt on the ground in anguish.
"Yeah, that's right. You--"
"What do I need to do?" Interrupting him, I stood up and looked at him with conviction.
"Huh?"
"The cure. There is one, right? What do I need to do acquire it?" I repeated as I straightened my focus and gaze. That's right. I can't afford to be affected on everything on what he is saying. I need to act tough..
"My, my. Yes, my prey. There is a cure, certainly. But to attain it, you must also sacrifice something. Something very important to you. An eye for an eye, per se." He explained as he leaned towards me with a victorious smirk.
"It doesn't matter what happens to me. All I want is definite health for my master. Can you keep your word for that?" I lifted my eyebrow, and kept the serious tone.
"My dear, I swear on the name of Astra. And when a servant of Astra gave you their word, he or she will keep it." He declared as he crossed his fingers.
"I see. So, how will I get the cure?" I questioned.
"Meet me tomorrow behind the Prime Sakura Tree, at 8 o'clock PM." As he placed his fingers around my chin, he replied with a growling voice. "Tell no one, okay? I'll be waiting." With that, he snapped his fingers and vanished into thick air.
I was left alone, and my tears were finally came up. They slowly flow from my cheeks, as I bit my lower lip in frustration. I screamed internally, and knelt in distress.
And there was nothing I can do, but blame myself.
