Chapter 7: Hostile Encounter• Anwar

Anwar laughed as Nayla mimicked Gina from Brooklyn 99, he had to admit, her impression was pretty spot on. He was glad he asked her to help him with his math homework. She had turned out to be pretty chill. He still couldn't figure out why nobody liked her. She was fun to talk to, and her stutter was adorable.

Nayla stopped talking and her smile vanished. Anwar followed her gaze and saw an angry Madison storming towards them. What did she want now?

Madison came up to them and leaned on the table next to Anwar. "Hey Anwar," she said flipping her hair.

"Hiya," said Anwar, waving at her.

He looked over at Nayla. She didn't look like she was enjoying this at all. And Madison's presence was throwing him off a little.

Madison looked over at Nayla and scoffed. "Why are you hanging out with her?" she asked him, "you can come and sit with us." She pointed towards were her two followers were sitting, and they waved on cue.

"No thanks, I'm good here," he said, brushing her off.

Nayla's eyes were looking everywhere but Madison as she stood up to leave.

"I don't even know what you see in her," said Madison, looking Nayla up and down.

Nayla looked at Anwar as if asking for help. He met her eye and looked away.

Madison laughed and kept the insults going. "She's so ugly. Didn't I tell you, you're out of her league, plus you can tell that her eyebrows are fake right?"

Anwar hesitated, and looked at the table in front of him, "I- I don't know."

Madison stalked off laughing as the bell rang and went back to her followers. He watched her walk away and then turned to face Nayla, who had already left.

"Well shit," he said to himself. That didn't go well at all.
