2 ⚔️ 'Cause I Love You
A sudden wave of shrug hit him when the cold wind kissed his hair. He glanced up at the blue sky without any clouds. He turned a little right to see the sunrise. All the clouds seemed to gather around the sunrise as there were none above him when he looked.
The sun rays refracted from the clouds, forming a triangular path for the rays. He glanced a little down, where Terra was sitting next to him, with her gaze locked at the willow Lake. She was sitting on the ground, with one of her elbows rested on her knee and the other leg lying around carelessly. He was sitting on the ground with his feet spread in front of him, and his arms balancing his back.
"Have you ever found yourself naked in a dream?" Diato began, locking gaze with her.
"Who the fuck starts a conversation like that?" She turned to him, slightly squinting her eyes.
He went back to gazing at the sunrise, with an expression that said 'Fair Enough', and a shrug. Surprisingly enough, the sunrise was faster than he had expected.
The whole sun was visible now. He felt another chill as the wind struck him again. A light grassy scent hung in the environment as he took a long breath. 'Oh not the stuffed nose!' He thought, getting annoyed of his nose.
"I've heard that James is planning to kick us out of the organization" Terra started with a neutral face,
"There is nothing we can do" He replied, as a picture of nepoleon popped in his mind, "I think we should quit first so that we can maintain our dignity." They didn't look at each other.
"It's easy for you to say." She sighed, finally glancing at him with tired eyes, "you haven't spent years grinding to get a higher rank. I have." Her leg received a small tremble.
"James took me in the organization and trained me. " She added, "Ever since I passed the selection, He always pointed out little mistakes. Only when I reached the A rank, He told me that he really appreciated me." She blinked twice before continuing, "He intentionally made me feel underappreciated to make me the best version of myself." She finished.
"And you smacked his head with an electrified boomerang" Diato added shortly with a sideways nod
"Yeah." She gazed down, "and He hasn't confronted me or tried to understand my perspective."
"Don't take anything for granted, Terra," Diato's voice suddenly went coarse, as if he was holding in something. He gazed at her for a second and then back at the sunrise, "I took your friendship for granted; right before you left the orphanage."
"Can you even talk to me normally without bringing that up?" She requested, her eyes slightly squinting.
"I can try" He sighed, "but that doesn't mean I forgive you."
"Come the fuck on Diato," She raised her voice a bit, "My brother told me to stay away from you when he died. You think I wouldn't obey him?" Her fist clenched and unclenched
"I'm sorry, okay?" He gazed down, shrugging, "I don't know how to feel about all this."
"I get it." She lowered back her voice, still looking at him, "but at least don't blame me."
"Again, I'm sorry" He again shot her a moment of glance.
She sighed again, and went back to gazing at the lake. The smile on her lips faded, as her back relaxed, forming the laziest posture Diato had seen.
"I don't know what your brother thought of me," He started after a while, "like, I'm not a monster, right?"
"Well, technically... You are" She pointed out, straightening her back again, "But as far I know you, you wouldn't do any monstery deeds, other than killing your enemies."
"I think your brother was just a bit worried about you." He explained, rolling his feet - back and forth - on the ground while staring at them, "I didn't know I was a dragon from birth, maybe he sensed it when he turned into a dragon himself."
"Possible," She pointed her finger at him while nodding once, "who told you he turned into a dragon, by the way?" She rested her hand back.
"Ever since you left the orphanage," He shrugged once, "the word was everywhere. The guardians, of course, didn't believe it but man those conspiracies."
"Well," She gazed into Diato's eyes, "I'm just glad we got to be friends again." She smiled at him.
This brought a smile on his face too. "And what makes you think you are now eligible to not obey your brother?"
"It's the fact that I'm not a blind obeyer anymore," She replied, she took a breath and continued, "I read your diary and found out you meant no harm to anyone. Not even me. Even though I kinda betrayed you."
"Yeah yeah," Diato rolled his eyes, shaking his head and glancing at her for a second, "But I warn you. Don't read my diary ever again" He calmly spoke. He shifted his glance to the lake, finally stopping his rolling feet.
"I know" She nodded a little, "But why did you miss me, even though I ended up ghosting you in real life?"
"That's 'cause I love you -" He finally glanced back at her, locking the gaze.
She raised one of her eyebrows, with a slight smirk. She was about to say, 'Really?' In an annoyed tone.
"- As a sister" He added, still locking the gaze.
She raised a pinched finger at their eye level and said, "This Close" She grinned, "You were this close to making me obey my brother again!"
Diato burst out in laughter. He let the hands, supporting his back come ahead of his stomach and laid down on the grass. He rested the palms on his stomach and continued to laugh.
Suddenly the laughter disappeared. He stopped laughing. With a straight face, he glanced at Terra. Suddenly transitioning from extreme laughter to a straight face threw Terra off guard. She burst out of laughter as well. But not as extreme as Diato. She laughed a bit and smoothly transitioned to a smile.
"Anyway" She started when her face went back to neutral, "Good luck convincing Shez that we're not a couple."
"What?" He was confused, "Why? Does he have trust issues?"
"No, " She replied, "He really thinks I'm your girlfriend because I fought against my own teammates to save you."
"And why did you tell him that you did that?" He asked with skepticism.
"I didn't" She shrugged, "that motherfucker's a mind reader."
"Well, He never read my mind" He pointed out, still lying on the ground, "He just knew my backstory 'cause he was the side character in it."
"Honestly" She cringed, "If I could read minds - I wouldn't waste it on you either." She spoke with a smile.
"Ayyy" He knew she was joking, "Nice one by the way. Instagram?"
"Nah" She replied, "Saw it on YouTube the other day."
"Knew it"
They fell silent for a while. Diato continued to gaze at the clouds with some song playing in the back of his head that he heard this morning on some Instagram reel. Terra continued to gaze at the boats in the middle of the lake, with some fishermen in them. They heard a weird bird sound in the distance that they had no idea what it was. It wasn't a sparrow, or a crow. It was something else. Something soothing. They were sure it was a bird but not sure which one.
"Tell me now" Diato started, "would you break me out if I even went to prison?"
"Nope" She replied, not glancing at him, "I would bail you out though." She shrugged.
He hauled his upper body back up and supported it with his hands like earlier, "What if bailing wasn't an option?" He raised an eye brow, "would you still break me out of there?"
"You are a dragon," She mentioned, "remember that?" She glanced at him, "who the fuck has got the balls to keep you behind bars?"
"I don't know" He gazed at her with a slight shrug, "Other dragons, maybe"
"Yeah yeah" Terra rolled her eyes, "Then I'd break you out on a magical flying chariot." She shook her head
"Should've expected that" He pouted. "Well, I would break you out if you went to jail."
"Yeah, 'cause you're a dragon" She pointed out, smiling.
"Aren't you a dragon slayer then?" He stopped pouting and raised an eyebrow again,
"Exactly. A dragon slayer. Not a human slayer." She gazed back at the lake.
"Okay, Chill" He blinked. "Do you have water?"
"There's a fucking lake in front of you." She rudely replied. He knew she was joking.
"No, I mean to drink"
"Oh, yeah - no I don't have any water." She didn't even bother looking at him.
He sighed in disappointment and hauled himself in a standing position.
"I'm hungry" He told himself aloud.
"Hi hungry, I'm -" She joked but was interrupted,
"Don't. You. Dare!" He shot her a glance.
She burst out laughing. But unlike Diato, she was actually good at transitioning between laughter and a straight face. She laughed a bit and transitioned to a straight face slowly. Diato stood there, towering in her - wondering how she was so good at that.
He glanced up and saw two different colored dragons flying over their heads. It was hard to tell if they were even dragons but He recognised them as a Black dragon and the other was a purple one. He had never seen dragons in other colors than red. 'So they come in colors now?' He thought to himself. But he was sure they were not normal dragons.
