Chapter 6: The Book
They open the book and read it. They were not that surprised yet... And then their faces widened up and they were speechless! They couldn't absorb the book's content! It was about them reading the book!
"Phemie! Where on Hope did you ever get this?!" Emmett says as he looked at it with awe.
"Oh, I wouldn't even want to ask if I were you..." She replies. Emmett thinks rationally.
If the book has a part about them, then surely it would have the part when she took the book from somewhere... Or someone? He takes the book and turns a few pages back to find the moment and he found it. It was the moment when the dark guy gave her the book. Phemie took the book away from his hands, knowing what he read.
"Phemie, I have a really bad feeling about this book!" Emmett says after reading that part.
"What exactly are you talking about?!" Phemie says "The guy was a bit good to me. You just don't understand him! You don't know what Lucas has been through!" Suddenly she realizes that she was fighting for the guy who kidnapped her before.
"Phemie, It was no one's fault that your mom loved the mayor and that he loved her! Your dad loved your mom!" He held her arms with conviction. "He..." Emmett hesitated. Phemie is close to tears.
"This book will show you probably..." He says this as he gives her the book. "Move a few pages back..."
She did and she read...
It was a year after Phemie ran from her daddy and his Arch-nemesis' plan to use his princess as a hostage for ransom was ruined by her um... Knight in shining armor!
She giggled a little, whoever made this book was a little juvenile for her ,like a fairy tale.
A night like never before, a year after the tragedy before
He struggled to run through the maze of his big grand mansion therefore.
He was cornered! The mayor was cornered!
By no other than Mr. Lucas the Scorner
"When you are dead, no one but I shall rule Lemington!"
He laughed a laugh like a part of an evil baritone.
"No one shall rule this land, not even me...
It is for my daughter...
Princess Phemie"
Wait... What?! She was choking a bit... But Emmett helped her up and gave her a mug of water ( where did he get that?) as soon as this happened she realized a third person in the party was there all along. Amanda was reading with her and was the one that gave the mug. "Why did you get a mug of.."
"Read. There's more..." Amanda interrupts.
"Oh ok..." She said and then laid her eyes on the book once again.
"Gee, Old whiner, I wish you'd shut up.
Oblivion's royal jester -that's me- is surely not amused"
Said the angry jester Lucas, but the mayor looked up.
"There is a magic in this land I cast, no one else can use."
Emmett knew the dying wish all along.
They hid it in for too long.
When the mayor dies, time will stop
And to Princess Phemie this land belongs.
She wanted to cry so much and she really did. Emmett explained further and Phemie never hated her father no more. The seed of hatred was dead, and was now sown with one of understanding and compassion.
She had always spoken ill of him but now... She doesn't want to remember all those things she said. She gave up the hatred. Like the plants around letting go of the flowers to fly away in the wind.
"Phemie, Noone is perfect. Emmett couldn't have remembered that that was it, Your father couldn't explain out of joy in happenstance." Amanda says, unexpectedly sounding authoritative. "You couldn't have known either. I couldn't have told you."
"But... The book... Was it really something good? It's from Lucas." Amanda says as Phemie cries on her lap.
"Lucas was not only a royal jester, He's a half-demon!" Emmett says! Phemie dries her tears and says...
"Why did he give me this book?" No one will know... But perhaps someone lost it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is the book with them? What did the father mean by "it is for... Princess Phemie"?
Is this story intriguing enough? And am I asking too many questions? Heh...
Stay tuned for more!
