Heiji gasped in disbelief as she covered her mouth with her right hand. It was the 5th murder case in the same month and she was already sick of it. "What's happening in Korea? What does the killer want? He's killing so many people." She said to herself while looking down at her bleeding knee and palm.
The guy on the bike pushed her a little too hard that made her had some injuries. Thankfully it was nothing serious so she could just treat herself at home. Since last night, she kept thinking of the guy who pushed her.
She was certain that the guy was someone she knows. They made eye contact for a few seconds and she was confident that she knew who he was.
"I'm very sure it was the guy who I helped the other day. But why did he look so fine as if he had fully recovered from his wound?" She sighed. "I know it was him. I remember his eyes." She said to herself then leaned back to the couch. "But why'd he chase the guy?" She kept thinking about it since yesterday and the thought had been bothering her mind.
The memory of yesterday when the first guy tried to hit her flashed back on her mind. She slightly flinched due to the shock and trauma. She was sure that the guy wanted to hit her, for some reasons. She wasn't blocking his way but he still wanted to hit her. Then went Jimin took out his gun and shot the guy, she started to think, "Does he own a gun? Isn't illegal for a citizen to own a gun?". Stupid theories were ghosting her.
She groaned. "At this point, everything seems to be so ridiculous."
Taehyung decided to give Heiji a visit since he was told that she had a rough day yesterday and her knee was bleeding. He felt bad about it and yesterday was pretty hectic for him so he couldn't make time for her. But today, he tried to meet her, at least for 10 minutes.
He reached her apartment and was about to ring the bell until he realised that the door was already unlocked. Quickly, he took his shoes off and went in as he searched for her figure. "Heiji, are you home?" He called for her.
"Yes I'm in my room." He heard her answering from her room.
"Coming," he said. He stepped into her room that was filled with lavender scent and spotted her who was on her phone, looking so focus. "What are you looking at? Are you chatting someone?" He wanted to know in case his best friend since highschool already had a boyfriend. It'd be fun to tease her if she does.
Rolling her eyes, she gave him a death glare. "I'm scrolling through the news, you idiot." She scoffed before throwing her phone away.
"Taehyung." She said his name and he got the early warn that she was probably wanting to have a serious conversation because her tone was kinda strict. Besides, she never only said his name. She would usually say something afterwards. He breathed and looked at her. "Since you're a cop, may I ask you something?" She asked.
"Sure. Anything." He nodded, didn't want to waste any time.
"Isn't it illegal for a normal citizen to own a gun? Do cops will arrest people with guns?" She seemed curious and really wanted to know.
Didn't know whether she was being serious about it or not, Taehyung decided to chuckle softly before answering her question. "Well, it's true that people aren't allowed to own a gun. Like pistols, rifles and etc." He added, "But a normal citizen is actually allowed to own a gun if they have a license for owning it. I'm not sure if you'll understand about the procedure but they can have it. Especially when they have strong reasons." He explained to her.
She nodded while analysing the theory she made up in her mind. "Now tell me why you suddenly ask me that? You're never interested in this kind of thing." He stated, knowing his best friend so well.
"Well—" she hesitated. "It's actually nothing. I'm just curious." She smiled softly.
He knew that she was lying. He has known her for too long. But he didn't want to force her to tell something she wasn't comfortable about. "Okay then." He nodded before looking at her knee. "Now let me see your wound. It looks kinda serious."
10:35 a.m.
Inspector Seokjin barged into Taehyung's office with a panicked look. But he managed to make it as if nothing was serious. Quickly, he looked at Taehyung who was discussing with the junior cops and asked to meet him outside.
"What's it?" Taehyung asked as he had a bad feeling because it was the first time of him seeing Seokjin being so panicked. "What's wrong?" He asked.
Clearing his throat, he fixed his tie before starting to tell him, "You heard about the murder yesterday, right?" He asked, his eyes were making eye contact with Taehyung's.
Taehyung nodded his head right away. "Of course I do. It's confirmed that the murderer is the same person as the one who has killed the 4 other victims. He's so tricky. He didn't even leave any evidence." He stated but Seokjin didn't look like he was okay. It wasn't what he wanted to hear from Taehyung.
"Do you know who was killed yesterday?" He asked.
"Lee Hongjong, right?" He sounded a bit hesitant; afraid that he might be wrong. But it wasn't what Seokjin wanted to tell him.
"Do you know who's him? His background?"
Taehyung shook his head.
"He's a mafia's son. Lee Ruan, 45 years old is the leader of the biggest gang in Korea." Taehyung's eyes widened once he was told about Lee Hongjong's background. Then, Seokjin added, "All this time, we were suspecting that the murder cases are because of the mafia gang. But now it just proves that we're wrong. The murderer isn't from the gang." He said, Taehyung could hear the tension and pressure in his voice.
"But how can we confirm about that? What if his father actually wants to kill his own son to cover his doings? A mafia can do anything, including killing their own children." Taehyung debated as he think that it would make sense.
Seokjin shook his head, giving Taehyung an early signal that something bad was going to happen. "You don't know him, Taehyung. He may be a mafia but everyone knows how he loves his son. He loves him so much— more than anything. He even killed his best friend because of his son." He told him the real story of the Lee's family. "Everyone in Gwacheon knows him well. He will never kill his son. He loves him too much. Trust me."
"So, this mean.." He tried to conclude everything up.
"This murderer that we've been searching for isn't just a normal murderer. He's probably a mafia— or something more than that. He's so brave to mess up with the mafia leader. That's why he's so hard to be caught. He's a professional killer. Imagine being brave enough to kill the mafia's beloved son. Can you ever imagine how brave and fearless this person is? Because I can't." He confessed.
"Now, we have to get all the team and go to Gwacheon to investigate this case. We have to work hard. Really hard." He emphasised.

Heiji, I'm sorry. We can't have dinner tonight. I have to work outstation. I promise you to make it up to you once I come back. Take care.
Heiji was disappointed and sad reading the text from her friend who had been extremely nowadays and they barely get to spend time together. She understand him as a cop. But she felt lonely because she wasn't used of being alone.
She did have several friends besides Taehyung. But they weren't the one she wanted. She wanted a friend who she can be wild with; someone who wouldn't judge her when she does something she loves. Even until now, she didn't think she has found one except for Taehyung.
He was the only one who didn't judge her and would always be there for her. He was her true friend.
With a sigh, she replied to his text; saying she was fine and wanted him to be safe. She knew that he had to do it because he wanted to be an inspector. It had been his dream since forever.
She was hungry which mean she had to have dinner alone. She planned to have dinner with Taehyung at their favourite restaurant. They were aware of the fact that it was very dangerous for them to be outside at night. But since Taehyung is a guy, she think he could protect them from any danger. But since he couldn't make it tonight, she think that it was the best for her to just have dinner at her place. She still remember what happened to her yesterday so she didn't want to take the risk.
But it happened to be a plot twist there. She was out of rice. She hadn't eaten anything since this morning and thinking that she might have gastric if she doesn't eat, she decided to go out really quickly and get home right away.
"Going to the convenience store won't put me in danger, I guess." She mumbled then grabbed her purse.

Heiji didn't read the news as she quickly left her apartment to go get some groceries. When she stepped out from her apartment building, she noticed that the environment was quiet more than usual. No cars, no guards— only some lights and a few people walking around in rush.
But she thought it was normal because they were scared since the murderer wasn't arrested yet. The night was cold— gladly she wore a jacket so at least she won't get a cold.
She had walked a few metres away from her apartment area and now was walking at a quiet isle. There was barely any people who could be seen there. She started to get curious of what was happening. Yesterday wasn't this quiet. A thought crossed her mind, saying that she could just stay at home and drink a glass of milk for dinner. But her tummy said the otherwise. She was hungry and needed food. Or else, she might get gastric.
She took a few steps towards but when she heard a loud bang sound, she stopped. It sounded like cars crashing. Her heart beat so fast as she got an uneasy feeling about it. "Maybe I should had just stay at home," she mumbled and turned her heel around and that was when her eyes met a very sharp gaze that was already looking at her. A tall, big man was already in front of her out of nowhere; making her so terrified.
But not wanting the person in front of her to know that she was scared, she randomly apologised to him. "I'm sorry for blocking your way, I— have to go now." She low-key stuttered while talking to him. She quickly stepped aside and went she was ready to walk away, she noticed that the big guy had a gun in his hand.
Her pupils grew wider; full with fear. The trauma she had from yesterday's incident was still there. And just by looking at the gun in his hand was enough to traumatise her. She gulped down her saliva and tried to walk away with her shaking knees.
"You, stop there."
Heiji
My knees were shaking in fear and trauma; having the feeling of worry that the guy behind me might use his gun to hurt me, just like how the previous guy tried to do to me although I had never known who they were. He asked me to stop from walking any further, which made me doubt my decision to take another step, thinking of the fact that he had a gun with him.
The chance of him to shoot me was high. I did stop for a few seconds but didn't turn to look at him. I didn't even dare. But since he didn't say anything, I embraced myself and tried to walk away again before he started yelling at me.
"Hey woman, I said stop!" He yelled out aggressively, making me to flinch. I stopped.
My hearing ability was functioning well at the moment; allowing me to hear that he was filling up the gun shots. I closed my eyes in fear. God, I didn't want to die like this.
Scoffing, he asked me to turn around. Having no choices, I did as he wanted because my life depended on him. It depended on his mercy. With my eyes still closed, I turned around.
"Open your damn eyes." He ordered.
I didn't want to. But I had to. Or else he would end me.
Shaking, I slowly opening my eyes and looked at him who was already pointing the gun at me. I heart dropped for a damn second. "Wh- what are you trying to do?" I asked.
He scoffed. "You're not supposed to be here. What are you doing here at times like this, hm? Trying to show that you're so brave?" He rolled his eyes but Heiji had no idea about what he was talking about. But she didn't give a shit about it because what was important for her at the moment was the gun he was holding. Once he pulled the trigger, everything ends.
"N–No, Sir." She shook her head. "I'm just trying to get food. I promise," she stated.
He laughed sarcastically. "Do you think I'll trust you? Who sent you? Are you one of the stupid cops?" He asked because he thought that she was a cop who was in disguise to spy on them. "Where are they? Call them now, I want to see what happens if I shoot your head." He had a vicious smirk.
It terrified her. "No, please don't. I swear I'm not one of the cops! I'm just trying to get food." She denied.
"No one is gonna believe you, little thing. Even if you're not a cop, I still have to vanish you. You aren't not supposed to be seeing this." He pointed the gun right at her head, aiming to shoot her.
She was scared af and he was scaring the shit out of her. She hurriedly kneeled down to the ground and begged him to not shooting her. "Please, don't." They were the only thing she could say in that situation.
He smirked while looking at his victim who was begging for her life.
