Epilogue

The annoying sound of beeping filled the air. The sound was faint at first and then gradually became louder as consciousness came upon the figure laying in the bed. Even though the lights were dimmed to a tolerable level, they still like knives were puncturing into their eyes as they groaned and slammed them shut once more. The only reason their eyes opened again was the gasp that hit their ears shortly after.

From across the room, a figure with long red hair slowly faded into view. Camille was frozen at the end of the hospital bed with eyes the size of moons as she looked at the figure. Her muscles were tense as she felt her breath still within her body,"Hey...You're finally awake!" She exhaled quietly as they watched tears form in her eyes.

One hand grasped their's as she moved around the bed and hit the nurse's call button with the other. Her face was as pale as a sheet and covered in tears by now. Her body was still tense as if she was holding in her uncontrollable sobbing that they knew would be soon to come.

"How long was I out for?" The hoarse voice grated out hesitantly from their lips as if afraid of the answer.

"You were out for four months." She cried softly before latching onto her brother carefully. "They restarted your heart, but you were in a coma. The doctors finally decided to try one more thing..and it worked! We were surprised and relieved when they told us. I'm so happy you're back. I missed you."

"What did they do?" Cameron asked while hugging his sister weakly. It felt odd to move, but he could tell something was different. He felt a bit stronger than he had before and it was as if his muscles were actually listening to him for once.

Camille tensed against him once more before letting out a loud sniffle. "I donated bone marrow because I was a match. It took...You're still recovering and will need more therapy and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember because I'm freaking out right now!" She hugged him a bit tighter as she continued to wail into his chest.

Cameron blinked rapidly as it all sunk in. His sister had risked a donation for him and it had taken. He had gotten lucky and he was going to get better from the sound of everything. He knew that it was not going to be easy, but he was happy to spend more time with his family and sister. His hand stroked his sister's hair as a smile crept onto his face,"Where's mom and dad?"

As if on cue, their parents came rushing in to hug him. In the process they almost knocked over the stunned nurse and doctor who had been standing there quietly, listening to the exchange between brother and sister. They had thought that the button had been hit by accident or something, but were stunned into silence upon hearing two voices from the room.

After some crying and happy exchanges between the family, the doctor and nurse finally began checking him over. Everything seemed fine, but they overloaded him with information about what would be happening the next few months. He was doing better than expected and they told him it was a miracle that he had been able to come back from the brink of death.

When they were done overloading his dazed brain, he gestured to his sister and smiled as their parents followed the doctor out to continue talking. "Come here, Cammie. I have to tell you about this crazy dream I had while I was out. It was like I was watching you from a third person point of view, but I could also hear some of your thoughts." He said quietly before laughing softly at her expression,"I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out! You'll love it!" He patted the bed and waited for her to get comfortable before launching into the story of everything that had occurred.
