Chapter 9: The Crush
Camille felt her world shifting as she woke up, her body moving despite her not making a move. Her arms flailed about as she snapped into awareness, her legs frantically kicking outward in an attempt to get away from the one who was lifting her up out of bed. She lets out a high-pitched squeak as her body tumbles back to the bed and her eyes snapped open to be met with a pair of amethyst ones.
Her body tensed under Tamaki's as she stared up at him, her breath coming out shakily before she glared up at him. The glare was enough to send him reeling backward as if she had hurt him. "I'm sorry Camille! You wouldn't answer your phone and we are leaving soon! You're always the last one to be ready and I was going to let you sleep, but you woke up."
Camille kept her glare fixated on him as he sat down in one of the chairs near her window, still looking freaked out. "You could have just woken me up instead of giving me a heart attack and I was ready before you guys came to get me the day we went to Haruhi's, but you guys were late picking me up!" She grumbled before she stood up and began walking toward him.
"What are you doing?! Please don't kill me! Ahhh!" He yelled frantically as Camille grabbed his ear and then threw him out into the hall.
"Let me get dressed you pervert! I'm not going dressed in this!" Camille yelled before gesturing to her purple tank top and short shorts that matched them. Tamaki looked up at her as if he had not noticed how she was dressed, a deep blush crossing his face as she slammed the door to get ready.
Tamaki went downstairs to wait with the rest of the hosts, his face still red and frozen in surprise. His movements were mechanical and there was a bit of blood dripping out of his nose.
The twins slid over to him and stared at his face before blinking a few times, erupting into laughter a few moments later. "You saw her in her pajamas!"
Their laughter was cut off, however, whenever footsteps were heard coming from the stairs. Camille rolled her bag down the stairs, adjusting her camera on her shoulder as well. She wore an irritated face and there was a light blush on her cheeks. Her clothing consisted of a navy blue skirt with a high waist on it, suspenders coming up over her shoulders. Under it was a white shirt with a bow in the front at her collarbone. Her legs were encased in white thigh-high stockings and her feet were covered by black shoes. "Let's go before I decide to punch him in his pervert face." She grumbled before she scanned the expressions of the hosts. "What?!" She asked in the same irritated tone.
"You look really pretty Cam-chan!" Honey said, bouncing over to her with a beaming smile on his face. He hugged Usa-chan as he did this, but nothing could stop her face from heating up more with a renewed blush. The rest of the hosts were staring at her as if they were seeing her for the first time.
"Thanks Honey-senpai..but I'm really not pretty and it's not like you guys haven't seen me dressed up before.." She murmured before she looked at the rest of them again,"Hey, where's Haruhi?" She blinked rapidly before looking over at Kyoya for answers.
He cleared his throat before starting to walk toward her front door,"Haruhi is a commoner, as you know, and does not have a passport. We would have gotten her one, but the time it would take would be too long for it to get here. She decided to stay behind and work on homework." He opened the door to let the hosts start filing out. Tamaki was being drug by the twins, blood still coming from his nose. Mori had taken her bag and was rolling it behind him despite her protests.
"That's too bad.." She murmured as she followed them, knowing full well that Kyoya could have easily pulled some strings to get one in time. She wondered what his motives were for not doing so, but forgot all about that as they got into the car that would take them to the airport.
--------------------
The plane ride to the United States was a boring one, for the most part, that consisted of Camille sitting by the window and staring out at all the land or ocean that passed by. She had done the same on her trip from France to Japan, but this time she was accompanied by friends. These friends threatened to drive her mad the first hour they were in the air.
The twins, Tamaki, and Honey had been full of energy and excitement upon boarding the private plane that they were practically bouncing in their seats. Mori, Kyoya, and Camille had found their seats with little to no words said and did their best to ignore the other four who had taken to pressing their faces to the windows every five seconds. They act as if they don't travel all the time. She thought to herself, sinking down in the seat with a pointed glare at the twins who had finally sat down beside her.
"You know, you're going to be the only girl for a whole week." Hikaru smirked at her.
"How does that make you feel, Camille-senpai?" Kaoru asked before pulling an identical smirk.
"If you get scared or loney..." Hikaru began, running his fingers along her jaw.
"You could always come to our room and we will take care of you." Kaoru finished, making her blush crimson red.
Camille's hands flew up to her face and covered it, trying to hide her blush as she yelled at them. "Stop talking like that you perverts! You know I'd never do that!" This caused the two of them to retreat back to their own seats. After this incident, the trip went on as boring as could be.
She must have fallen asleep at some point because when she stretched and opened her eyes she found herself in a large bedroom. The bed she was laying on was a four poster with sheer, green curtains that had been pulled back to allow her a clear view of the room. She rolled to her feet and found the mossy green carpet felt nice between her toes as she walked over to a table on the other side of the room. On this table was her camera bag and next to it was her luggage.
Whoever had brought her to this room had been caring enough to make sure her shoes were off, the covers were pulled over her, and her camera bag was in plain sight. This left her to think that it had to be Kyoya, Mori, or Tamaki.
"Kyoya would be busy organizing so it couldn't be him. Mori-senpai could be the highest ranking on the list due to how he acts, but if Honey-senpai needed him then that is unlikely. The twins would have made sure to stay because they would want to take the opportunity to play a trick on me judging by how they acted on the plane." Her red-brown eyes blinked rapidly as she came to the realization that it had to of been the leader of the host club. "If he did this, then I need to thank him somehow. He could have woken me up or something."
She found herself rambling on as she went downstairs, her nose catching the hint of the smell of chicken as soon as she made it to the ground floor. It made her mouth begin to water and her footsteps quickened across the plush carpet toward the smell. Voices hit her ears, causing her to hesitate outside the slightly open door to the dining room.
"Should we go wake up Camille-senpai, boss?" Hikaru and Kaoru asked Tamaki in unison.
"No, let her sleep. She has been stressing out about our next exam and looks like she hasn't been getting enough sleep." His answer held a thoughtful tone to it.
"You could tell that easily?" Kyoya's voice came next, sounding like it was laced with surprise.
"Of course! I'm not completely dim-witted. She mutters to herself during lectures when she doesn't understand what's being said. I think sometimes the teacher speaks too fast for her and she can't translate it fast enough." There was silence that followed his statement. He really does pay attention to everything around him. Whether he lets on that he does or not. She thought before he continued in a frustrated tone,"I just wish she would ask for help every once in a while."
"I agree and have told her that she needs to." Kyoya said, surprising her. "She may be talking to us now, but she is nowhere near trusting us to ask for help."
"Have you asked Cam-chan if she wants help?" Honey finally spoke up in that adorably innocent voice of his.
"No...but I've been meaning to. She does so much to keep everyone else happy, but she doesn't keep any of that happiness for herself." Tamaki murmured just loud enough to be heard through the crack in the door. Camille felt guilty when he said that, knowing that she was hurting their feelings.
"I think someone has a crush on the broken one!" The twins teased Tamaki with a laugh.
"No! You guys are wrong..I just...I uhhh" Tamaki seemed flustered and it caused Camille to back up from the door a few paces. What?! He likes me? What about Haruhi? She wouldn't like it if she heard that...She said before turning around and running off back to her room.
