Chapter 30: Be Happy
AN: A short filler chapter because everyone wants an update. It's an important one though :)
----------
Camille had no idea how long she cried after Kyoya left, but she kept herself in her room the entire day. In fact, she kept herself in her room for several days. Those days consisted of laying in bed ignoring anyone who may come in. Someone brought her food a few times a day, but she never looked up from her fortress of blankets to see who it was.
The only time she left her little haven, that smelled very much like Kyoya still, was to eat or use the restroom. The other few times were to stretch and feed Bell who had taken to sleeping because he knew there was nothing he could do. She was convinced that Kyoya hated her now and wanted nothing to do with her. It was another case of her mind jumping to conclusions again, but she had a feeling in her stomach that she was right. She had heard nothing from him and the only messages she received were from the other hosts on her cell phone.
Tamaki was being obnoxious as ever and had texted her almost as much as Honey had. His messages consisted of him trying to get back in her good graces, him making a fool of himself, trying to make her laugh, or to get her to answer him in general. She never answered him or showed emotion while reading them.
Honey was a close second to Tamaki. His messages were mainly him talking about his day, cake, Usa-chan, and even going as far as to ask her what was wrong. He offered to take her to a cake shop to talk as well, but she never answered him either. There was a little guilt at this because she knew he meant well and it would likely hurt his feelings.
Haruhi had barely messaged her at all. She had asked how she was and what happened, but Camille assumed that she was trying to save money and minutes. That was what she told herself as she moved onto her other messages.
Hikaru kept trying to get her to tell him and Kaoru what was wrong. He was pretty persistent and she had had a little trouble resisting the temptation to spill the beans. Instead she had moved on to Kaoru's texts.
Kaoru kept asking how she was and apologizing. She assumed he was still feeling guilty about the kiss because he had no clue what had happened with Kyoya. If he did, he would not be asking her how she was.
She had done a good job of ignoring all of their messages despite the conflicting emotions she felt. She had grown close to them and it was starting to hurt her more than she thought it would to keep things from them all. That was until Mori messaged her, making her realize they must be pretty desperate to get her to answer. This time she had taken the bait.
Mori: Hello.
Camille: Hey...
Mori: Everyone is worried.
Camille: I can tell if you're messaging me now.
Mori: They didn't ask. I did it myself.
Camille: If you say so. You're a lot more talkative in texts...
Mori: Yeah...
Camille: I spoke too soon :/
Mori: What happened?
Camille rolled her eyes as he cut to the chase. Biting her lip, she sent a very long text explaining what happened. There was a long wait before she got a reply and in that amount of time she was about to take a nap when her phone chimed. She jumped and flailed slightly as she woke up, her phone slapping her in the face hard. A groan escaped her as she rubbed her face and tried to soothe the ache while reading his reply.
Mori: I'm sorry. Do you need anything?
She sighed and shut her eyes for a few moments. This could be a pivotal moment in her life. If she left there would likely be no coming back. Though staying had not been appealing thus far. If she left, she could could take the money she had saved up and find a place of her own. She was against going home again and she was able to be on her own now.
Camille: Can I stay with you or Honey-senpai for a few days until I find a place of my own?
The wait was agonizing between messages. She hated asking for help and hated being a burden, but he had offered. Not to mention, she needed out of here.
Mori: Yeah. Come stay with me.
She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled slightly before thanking him and getting up to start packing her things. A newfound energy was flowing through her veins that she had not felt in a while. That energy was what would get her through this. She had to stay strong and think of a plan.
That moment, something her brother said caused her to pause in folding a shirt into her suitcase. He had always told her to do what she loved and make sure she was happen when she did it. A shaky hand came up to her mouth as her eyes stung with tears for the millionth time this week. The exception was that these were happy tears.
Camille glanced to her camera case as she nodded her head to nobody in particular. Her tears dried as she balled her hands into fists. "I will do what I love and enjoy it! You just wait and see, brother! I'll make you proud and do this on my own." She swallowed hard and walked over to the window, her hands pulling the curtains open to look at the setting sun. "I'll no longer be broken. I'll do everything I can to be happy from now on. I promise."
