Part Three
-3 years later-
Allon and Ash have been friends for a while, now. Ash invited Allon to move in with him. He gave her a room of her own, and even helped her to find work. She began to work as a cook at a small diner until eventually opening one of her own.
It was successful and even gave people jobs. The town began to prosper with the ideas Allon brought with her. The townspeople were showed proper ways of farming and hunting. They soon began to open up trades with other towns and villages, including the one Allon was born in.
Which leads to the fall of Allon's heart.
Allon was invited on a trip to her hometown to trade with a farmer that lived there. The address was familiar, but she thought nothing of it. She had agreed to go on the trip with the people as long as Ash got to go as well.
They arrived to town within a few hours. Allon didn't stick around long once they entered the city boundaries. She was off to find her old house. Yes, her family never cared for her, but that didn't mean that she hadn't cared for them.
After a few minutes of running and memorial navigation, she approached the familiar walls of the house that she once occupied. It looked a bit worn from since she left, but it was still recognizable. She new almost every nook and crevice the building had to offer. Especially since she had to sleep in some of them when it rained or snowed.
She walked up to the old, rusted door and knocked lightly, worried about damaging the already cracked wood. She wanted to see her sister. She wanted to see her mother. Her family that she hadn't seen in three years. She didn't care about how awful they had been to her in that moment, she just wanted to see their faces again.
Sure enough, her sister was home that day. Kat answered the door, it squeaking as she did so. She seemed sad, her face in a deep frown until she saw just who was at the door. What surprised Allon, though, was her sister's outfit. She wore a bright gold crown with red and pink gemstones in it. A long fur cape was draped loosely over her shoulders, held in place by a Pink gem that reflected the light of the sun beautifully.
"Allon! You came back to me!" Kat said loudly in joy, pulling her twin into a hug. Allon hugged back, missing the feeling of being in her sister's arms. Yet, not as much as her mother's.
"Where's mother, so that she too may partake in the welcoming gesture?" Allon questioned the other girl as she pulled away from her embrace. Kats face went back to its sad, deep frown with a tint of tear in her eye.
"Mother has left us to return to her true home in the sky," Kat sighed, turning her head away from Allon, light pink rays bouncing off of her crown. Allon was surprised, to say the least. Her mother hadn't been that old, so age was out of the question. Did she go from disease? Was it murder? The forests monsters? Allon didn't know, but strangely wasn't all that sad about the news.
Her mother had been terrible to her and was going to just let her die from starvation. Either that or the cold. All of the pain that Allon should have felt for the death of the lady was used up in the previous years of torture. It was only natural that she lacked negative feelings for her mother's passing.
Allon hugged Kat again. Allon wasn't affected, true, but Kat had stayed with her mother. She had a strong bond with the woman, so her death was hitting her rather hard. Perhaps Allon could cheer her up in some way? It was worth a shot. Allon took Kat's hand and pulled her from the door.
"Let's go to the town and play, just like before. We can have fun today, before I have to go back to my home," Allon said happily. She wanted to relive all the fun times she had with Kat.
Kat seemed hesitant, but decided to go with Allon. She grabbed her house key and locked the door before joining Allon on the porch. Allon skipped in excitement as they made their way towards the familiar streets. They talked the entire way, learning all about the others accomplishments in their years apart.
Kat had found herself work as a librarian, and a successful one at that. She worked hard and always participated in town events. The people adored her and her charming personality. After many months of labor, the people crowned her to be their new queen. That explained all the impressive clothing.
She really had her life together, despite being tormented by depression. Kat listened closely when it was Allons turn to recall her tale. She was surprised at all the things that had happened to her. She talked oh so fondly of a hero with dirty blond hair and purple eyes that would always be lit up with life and passion for adventure. Kat never caught his name, though.
They soon arrived within the town square shortly after they both finished their stories. Memories flooded Allons mind, both good and bad. Many fights she had gotten into, forever imprinted on her from faded bruises. Yet, many fun times had happened here, as well.
They relived many of their favorite memories here. They skipped around while singing little tunes from their childhood. They bought some rather odd dish similar to a cheese. They played along the walls of the center fountain. Many fun times, indeed.
After a while, they sat down to rest when Kat got an idea. Excitement shined in her once dull eyes. She pulled Allon to her feet and lead her down a path to a large building. It appeared to be made of marble. It looked very fancy, making Allon look up at it in awe.
They entered through the massive doors, and what they saw made Allons jaw drop. In the center of the large room was a statue. It looked like... her. Except, there was something that threw her off about it. It had darkness where the white of the eye was supposed to be, and the irises blue as they held a white pupil.
The ears and tail were a bright blue and dark black instead of the colors of hers. Finally, the statue held two large objects that looked like one of the old drawings in the library. They were called 'guns' from what she remembered.
It was an odd sight. Allon didn't quite understand why the people would make a statue of her. For all they know, she had been dead all those years. So why? She was never important to them. They never before were nice to her, so why start now? No one had looked up to her before. It hurt her head to try and understand it. One thought repeated itself to her.
'I am not important.'
"It's the evil! The bad one is here!" A feminine voice screeched from somewhere else in the room. Allon turned her head to see a lady pointing at her with a look of horror coating her features.
This was why. The reason they had made this statue. They didn't look up to her. They didn't see her as a hero. A good person. Someone worth while. No, they didn't love her.
They feared her.
She was a bad person to them. They always thought of her as bad, so why change that just because she disappeared for three years? She never did anything wrong, so it bothered her greatly to know there was such hatred towards her. So, why? Why did they hate her so much? It wasn't fair.
Kat turned to her, confusion and worry on her face. She hadn't known about the statue. She never been to the building before, and thought it would be fun to go with her sister. She hadn't known the people's hatred for her twin.
Tears began to sting in Allons eyes, threatening to spill over. A crowd had formed around them, hundreds of eyes glaring at her, filled with anger and hatred, and some even holding hints of fear. It was all too much for the 17 year old. She ran from the crowd, people jumping out of her way out of fear of an attack. She ran away from the crowd, away from the statue, the building. Her sister...
The one who had brought her to the statue in the first place.
She ran until she reached the forest's edge. She hid behind a tree, wishing to be alone. Tears trailed down her flushed cheeks. Her mouth was dry and her lips chapped. She desperately tried to catch her breath. Her head throbbed and her legs ached, not to mention, it felt like her lungs had caught fire.
Yet, over the rushing blood in her ears, something caught her attention. She whipped away her tears and stood up, listening closely. There was a distant whimpering, barely noticeable on the wind. It sounded almost human...... Almost.
She followed the whimpers deeper and deeper into the forest, it getting louder by the minute. She traveled for a while, forgetting about her ordeal. She eventually found the source of the whimpers.
It was a giant.
A very big one, at that. It had blue hair with brown scruff. Its eyes were also blue, going with the purple horns on the top of its head. A blue and purple tail was wrapped around the giant, being coated with purple spikes that went up the creatures back.
It was whining from what, Allon couldn't see, but it sounded pained. It broke Allons heart to hear its distressed cries. She knew something was making it suffer, but she was scared to leave her hiding spot. Who was to say that this giant wouldn't kill her?
It whined again and turned over, revealing its hand, it being covered by bear traps, blood dripping from each one. The sight was saddening, and pity won Allon over. Before she could stop herself, she had left her hiding spot. The beast's eyes landed on her, the giant curling its lip back in a snarl. Allon froze, fear striking her dead in her tracks.
Yet, it didn't reach for her. It only winced and whimpered again. Allon shuddered and walked closer, forcing herself to not think of the giant as a threat. The man watched her, but didn't move. She put up her hands to show that she was unarmed, hoping the giant would understand and not lash out.
It didn't, so Allon continued to get closer until she was right next to the gigantic being. It stared at her for a moment before lowering its injured hand down into Allons reach.
Allon shakily reached forward and gripped one of the bear traps, prying it open. The giant relaxed a little, some of the pain being taken away. Allon kept kept removing bear trap after bear trap until there were none left, but something else had caught the girl's eye.
A single blade had been stabbed into the middle of the giants palm. She would need to climb onto the hand if she were to remove it. Wearily, she stumbled onto the soft surface. The giant only tensed and occasionally shuddered as Allon approached the dagger. She got to her knees and stared at the weapon. It was in there pretty deep, and would most likely sting coming out. Her hand hovered around the handle as she took a deep breath. Squeezing her eyes shut, she quickly grabbed the handle and yanked the blade out.
The giant let out a pained yelp that sounded more like an angry roar to the teen. The dagger fell from her grasp when she flinched from suddenly being lifted up to the giants face. She expected to be thrown into the beast's mouth or it to clasp its hands together, crushing her. She shook uncontrollably at the thought, but her mind went blank at the feeling of something warm grazing her back.
Allon looked to the giant in confusion, being met by those ocean eyes. Turning her head, she found that a large hand was gently petting her as if she were some kind of animal. She began to relax at the touch, finding it to be oddly soothing. She looked back at the giant's face. It- no, he- seemed nice enough. Mabey Allon had tamed him? Befriended him? She wasn't sure, but was more than happy that he hadn't killed her.
Time lost its meaning to her. She stayed there on the giant's hand for hours. She was amazed to find he was able to form human words. Only a few of them, though. The sun had set and going through the forest at night was practically suicide.
The giant struggled with its words, but Allon finally managed to coax a name from his lips. He was Shane, a twenty-eight year old. He lived alone in a cave that he found. He had made himself some furniture out of the giant trees that hid the entrance. Giants wouldn't usually live together due to their territorial instincts.
Shane was lonely, though, so he would always go out into the forest in hopes to find someone or something to keep him company. That was how he had gotten himself caught in all the bear traps. He had found a small camp where two humans had settled for the night. He approached to try and talk to them, but got his hand stuck on the bear traps and caught their attention. He tried to reach out for one to ask for help, but they stabbed his hand with the dagger and ran. He hadn't gone because the bear traps were chained deep into the ground, and it hurt to move.
Allon was actually rather thankful that he had no intentions of hurting anyone. It meant that she would be safe with him. They continued to chat, it being mostly one sided since Shane could only say so much. Every word he said sounded as if he had to growl to pronounce it properly, so it was very gruff and kind of animalistic.
Hours passed and the sun had began to rise in the distance. Allon had fallen asleep on Shane's hand. He had her held against him to block out the light. He was carrying the maiden to his cave so that he too could rest. He would every so often glance down at Allon in awe. He hadn't seen a human with animal parts before. Yet he didn't question it, just admired it.
It took about an hour or two, but he had soon reached the familiar sight of grey walls and a giant stone he used as a door. He entered and took a deep breath at the sight. His home was rather bland with the stone walls, but he couldn't really do anything about it. He placed Allon down on a pillow he had made from tree leaves and went to his room. He crawled into bed, exhausted, and the moment his head hit his own pillow, he was out like a light.
