05 | What Did I Get Myself Into?

For the past few nights, I couldn't stopped myself from watching the video over and over again. There was something wrong with it but I couldn't figure it out even though I analyzed the video, trying to look at this mysterious woman's appearance. Her face was too blur to see since she hide it underneath her hood but I noticed a weird bracelet around her left wrist. It had something . . . glowing in blue and I would missed it if I didn't look carefully at the wrists.

I tried to contact my Grandpa to inform of this unknown mutant but it went straight into the voicemail. He must be busy or . . . asleep again in the office. He really need to take his medicine and arranged his schedule to spare some time for rest.

Soon, I let out a yawn and glanced at the clock to see the time. It was four in the morning. June would scolded me for not having enough rest and say something of being a good example for Jack. Although, I was a stranger and not one of her family members but she took care of me like her own daughter.

I couldn't remember when was the last time that I received love from a mother. Then, my eyelids started to feel heavy, telling it was time for a rest. "I should have a rest. Tomorrow might be a busy day." I whispered to myself. I stood up from my chair and went to the bed before collapsing onto it. The next thing I knew, I was already fall asleep as soon as my head hit the soft pillow.

I hope tomorrow would be a good day for me . . . especially figuring out the riddle I found.

"Not . . . my day." I groaned, glancing at my hoverboard in the garage. I was about to take a fly around before noticing it was broken. I don't know how but someone or something might disturbed and broke it! This was why I preferred to keep it in my room but June banned me from doing it after making a huge mess last week! It was an accident and she should know about it!

Well, it was also my fault for letting the door of my bedroom opened widely and let the hoverboard flew out of the room, wildly. As a result, I ruined the wallpaper and broke . . . a few things in the house.

I sighed, knowing I might had to take a walk or a bus. I turned but stopped, seeing the motorcycle at the middle of the garage. I walked to the door, checking if Jack was in the living room or the kitchen but I didn't saw him anywhere. Slowly, I closed the door and glanced at the motorcycle.

"Looks like it just me and you." I said, walking towards it. Maybe he wouldn't mind if I borrowed it? I just need to see something for a few minutes or longer but I would bring it back before he returned from . . . wherever he went to. For safety measurement, I left a note on the fridge and grabbed my black leather jacket from my room.

I climbed onto the motorcycle, starting the engine after seeing Jack left the key at the garage. Soon, I drove it out from the garage and headed to the town especially the crime scene; the convenience store. Luckily, there was no one around and I parked the motorcycle near the store before climbing off from it.

Taking out my phone, I took a few pictures from the crime scene and sent them to Daniel for further analysis. "What?" I mumbled. My eyes glanced at the ground, noticing the candy wrapper and picked it up. I didn't saw this before when I came here but it could be someone threw this trash when walking around.

"But it also can be a hint of that mysterious woman . . ." I whispered to myself. Then, I started to remember the card I found in few days ago. Was it possible that the one who sent the card involved with this? If she went disappeared, she wouldn't be able to escape for too long because of getting caught by the security camera or people's camera. Solving the riddle was hard especially finding who was the good and bad. There were a lot of them! I don't know where to start with finding the good because I refused to look for the bad, knowing I might had some problem with them.

"There's nothing here." I turned, heading to the motorcycle. I climbed onto it and started the engine before hearing something like an engine revved from my side. "Really?" I mumbled, glancing to find two identical purple cars came towards me with speed. Soon, I yelped when the motorcycle suddenly drove by itself. We avoided from getting crash by those cars and started a chasing game with them.

I was about to jump, deciding to attack them before a voice stopped me from doing it. "Don't let go!" A feminine voice, shouted. "You can talk?!" I asked, looking at the motorcycle in shock. Without a warning, she—the voice sound like a female—moved to the side and I was almost fall off from the motorcycle! "Can you at least give me a warning?!" I exclaimed.

"Just be quiet and you'll be safe!" I wouldn't take any order from a talking motorcycle when knowing I had some abilities to help. I commanded the bracelet to create a visor (picture above) over my face and checked the map, looking for a way to ditch those weird cars. Soon, I found a suitable location where we could fight them without involving any citizen around.

"Hey, talking motorcycle! I have a plan!" I said, then lowering my head to avoid the beam. Those cars really don't know how to give up but they might be the same thing with the talking motorcycle of how their windows were tinted until I couldn't see if they had any drivers inside. The motorcycle didn't say a word but I noticed how her side mirror moved, looking at me.

"Alright. What's your plan?"

I smirked, then keeping a grip on the handles. "I just need your trust." I answered. Soon, I started to follow the plan by taking a sharp turn to the left. I looked behind me, seeing they were still following us. Then, I went into the small alley to lose them for a while. Few minutes later, we were out of the town and I spotted an old building ahead of us. I saw the gate blocked our way and I raised my hand, releasing a red energy ball to open it.

"Your turn!" I jumped off from the motorcycle and rolled on the ground until I stopped myself by using my ability. The cars were able to catch us and I gasped in awe, watching them transformed into . . . giant robots. The motorcycle was also doing the same thing and glanced at my direction.

"Find a safe place to hide!" She ordered, which I nodded without a word. I ran into the abandoned building, then watching them fought through the broken window. I wished I could help her but I don't know if my ability was able to do any damage on those bad robots. Foe the first ten minutes, she was about to win before receiving a beam to the chest. Two against one was totally unfair and I started to think on how to help her.

"Screw this! I'm helping her!" With that, I stepped out from my hiding spot and ran towards them. The purple robots released a few beams but I managed to arrive on time, creating a red energy shield around me and her. "I t—told you to hide!" She yelled, slowly standing up on her own . . . feets?

"And let you die? Jack is going to be so mad if he know you're dead because of me!" I said, then pushing the enemies away with the shield. Quickly, I ran towards one of the enemies and released some energy through my palms, letting me to climb onto its body. My eyes glanced at the gun, forcing the arm to bend and pointed the gun at its head. Then, I pulled the trigger and causing the robot to shoot itself.

It collapsed to the ground as I jumped off, landing on the ground, softly. The others started to shoot at me but I was able to create a shield before it hit me. Unfortunately, the force was too strong and created a crack on the shield. The robot released another beam and I backed away as soon as the shield shattered into pieces.

Looks like I have to use the trump card.

"You're going down, giant robot!" I shouted, lifting both of my hands. "Equip!" The bracelet glowed in red, then releasing a huge amount of nano-tech to create a weapon in my hands. "Demon Scythe!" I said, keeping a grip on the scythe. I jumped and swing my new weapon, sending a crescent wave of red energy towards the robot. The attack sliced it into half before slowly, collapsing onto the ground, lifeless.

A metal hand caught me before I fall to the ground and panting, realizing how much I use the energy to maintain the weapon's form. The scythe started to return into the shape of a bracelet and I sighed, sitting with my legs crossed.

"Man . . . That was really a huge success for the first try."

The feminine robot looked at me with shock and confusion. "Who are you?" She asked, then I smirked in reply. "Just an ordinary girl, who has an interest with technology." I answered.

Jack was really going to explain everything from A to Z when knowing what I got myself into. Maybe it was a good idea for taking his motorcycle without his permission.
