Chapter one
Jikan smiled quietly to herself as she entered the dimly lit apartment. Flora moved swiftly in front of her, avoiding the many plants that filled the room and hall. After living with this many, sometimes more, plants in her house her whole life she learned how to avoid them. Once the green haired girl had avoided rows upon rows of plants, she made it to a light switch. Flipping the switch seemed to light up the whole apartment ten fold.
"Seems like you got more plants." Jikan commented quietly as she starred at the new floral arrangements that lined every part of the room.
"You know Grandma." Flora smiled as she grabbed the other girls hand and pulled her into a small kitchen. The smell of pancakes filled Jikan's nose causing her face to light up with a shy smile.
"Well good morning Jikan, you're up early." A woman in her early 60 said walking into the kitchen. The woman's hair a lighter green tied up into a small bun, eyes a light green also. She gave the two girl a bright smile showing some wrinkles on her face. "I'm going to take a guess and say you're out of medicine."
"Y-yes, ma'am." Jikan stuttered slightly with an embarrassed smile.
"Well we'll get you some made." Mrs. Flos said to the nervous young girl. "Flora what ingredients do we need for her medicine?"
"Pretty much everything, don't worry grandma Ji and I are going out shopping later." Flora said as she grabbed a plate of pancakes and sitting down at an old hardwood table which was mostly clear of plants. Mostly.
"But Jikan I thought you had class today." The older woman questioned as she grabbed a plate for herself and the young girl in question.
Jikan quietly shook her head no, "Someones quirk we-went off during class la-last week. They can-canceled school for a few d-days so they c-could f-fix the cla-classroom." The girl stuttered being very nervous talking about her school life.
She looked at the ground trying not to make eye contact since she never like to talk about anything that happened at her normal high school. She never like to have them ask about how her classes were going and if anyone was picking on her again. The girl was never very confident in herself, mostly due to how she grew up and people thinking that she was quirkless. For those that knew she had a quirk, almost all picked on her for how she was too scared to use it thinking it was mostly weak.
The two other females in the room looked at her sadly. They knew that she hated talking about school and figured it was because people picked on her. It made Flora's blood boil, but she knew she couldn't do much to help being that she wasn't the best at picking fights and that she was pretty weak herself.
Rose Flos looked sadly at the girl that she had been almost parenting since she had moved in next door. It always hurt her when her granddaughters were having bad days, but this was different. The girl's childhood wasn't the best model of parenting from what the girl had told her in passing, and from that stemmed the confidence issues that Jikan was pledged with. It made her angry and sad, more sad than anything though. But she knew the only thing her and her granddaughters could do for the purple haired teen girl, was support and care for her in any way they could.
Rose smiled at the two girl trying to lighten the darkness that had started to fill the room. "Well girls if you are going to go shopping today, you better get to eating." The two looked at her somewhat confused.
"But it's only like 7:00?" Flora asked.
"Yes, but Jikan still has to bathe and get out of those sweaty running clothes of hers. And you young lady," She looked Flora in the eyes with a look that most parents had when getting children to do something. "Still have some chores to get done. That headache remedy isn't going to finish itself."
The two girls nodded as they started to eat the food in front of them. The room was silent, not an uncomfortable silence, but one the three had grown used to over the years of eating meals. When the two girls had finished they're food they had gotten up from the table with a quiet, "Thank you for the meal."
Jikan silently walked to the door of the apartment trying her best not to knock anything over in the process. when she reached the door she sighed quietly and walked out. Getting cleaned up after a run was one of the best things in the world to the girl. She loved running and feeling free but feeling gross and sweaty was the biggest downside of the thing that girl love doing most.
Once she was clean of all disgusting sweat, she put on her normal everyday outfit. This was in fact a simple purple skirt, a pair of black leggings, her normal worn purple running shoes, and a black hoodie with small writing at the bottom that said "Eraserhead." She loved this outfit, mostly the hoodie.
Jikan really didn't seem like she had a favorite superhero, mostly from the way she was raised and acted, but she did. That hero was in fact Eraserhead. She knew little about the superhero, being that he wasn't very public, but that's what she liked. Most superheroes that were well known were very flashy, in your face, or just very loud. It's not that she didn't like the hero that were flashy or loud but Jikan wasn't really the type of person that liked that thing. Being quiet and shy probably was the reason. She really didn't care if they were flashy and stuff like that as long as they were great hero that weren't assholes. But what was really interesting to her about the superhero in question was that he wasn't loud and flashy but still effective. So to show support to the not very public hero she got a black hoodie and sewed in the hero's name. Kinda weird, getting merch would probably make more sense but hey it was still something. Plus it was cute and comfortable, along with the fact that it wasn't to flashy.
Jikan smiled softly to herself as she once again tied her hair into two pigtailed and place the two golden hair clips in. As she walked out she grabbed her phone and a small gold purse.
Once out of the apartment she was greeted by Flora who was leaning against the railing waiting. Jikan quickly locked the door and joined her friend.
"Ready?" Flora asked with gained her a small nod from Jikan. "Wait, you're wearing that again?" She asked referring to the black hoodie.
"What?" Jikan asked meekly.
"Ji, I know that your shy and I know he's your favorite hero but just buy some real merch. I mean seriously with how much you wear that it's going to become worn really quickly."
"And buying real merch is going to change that?" Jikan answer quietly but still slightly louder.
Flora was about to retort but just shrugged. "I guess you've got me there. Now where do we start?" She asked as the two walked down the old stairs.
"Probably the herbal shop that's next to the really good tea room."
"Oh yah. Wait, isn't that also next to that weird shop you like to go to?" Jikan's face started to redden. "The one with all the music and cartoon stuff in it?"
"They're not cartoon!" She yelled in a soft voice. "Plus it has other stuff in it too..." The girl's face now red as a tomato.
"Whatever you say Ji, we can stop there." The purple haired girl's eyes lit up. "But I get to choose where we eat."
"Fine." Jikan said as she sighed.
"Great, I know this amazing place that's right next to UA." Upon hearing those two letters Jikan looked at her friend with wide eyes. Flora looked back at the girl and smiled. "Don't think I don't know that you wanted to go there."
"Yah, I should have know." The girl said quietly.
"I don't understand why do didn't go for the entrance exam a few weeks ago. With your quirk..." Flora stopped mid sentence know it would only upset the girl to talk about her quirk. Flora sighed as she saw the slightly shorter girl wipe away a tear. "I'm sorry, I won't ask if you don't want to talk about it. But Ji," Flora stopped walking and turned Jikan to look her in the eyes . "Promise me that next year you'll at least consider it. Please."
Jikan knew that Flora was begging her. Flora was about two years older than her, but they were great friends. Practically sisters. She was the one that somewhat broke Jikan out of her shell. She didn't like to pry that much knowing the girl would mostly start crying. But this was one of the only times Flora had wanted Jikan to do something for herself. And Jikan knew it.
Knowing it would hurt her friend's feelings if she said no. Jikan whispered under her breath shyly, "Promise." Which seemed to satisfy the green haired girl.
"Good, now lets get to shopping."
*************************************
After about four hours of looking around and buying things they did or did not need the two girls needed a break. Both their arms and legs were tired from carrying around all the stuff they bought along with walking for a long time nonstop.
"Okay, time to eat." Flora stated as they stopped in front of a little restaurant.
Jikan was amazed at how close it was to the school of her dreams; right across the street. The girl continued to stare at the building as Flora practically had to drag her in the restaurant. Once the two stopped and sat down at a table by a window Jikan continued to stare in awe. Luckily Flora slipped the waitress a little bit of money so they could have this seat. The two stared at the building, Jikan in wonder and Flora in happiness for her friend.
Lunch was quiet small talk as Jikan continued to look at the building she wished to be at but was too shy to go to. Once she realized how close but so far away it was she looked sadly at her lap. Flora caught every second of how her friends attitude changed.
So to get Jikan's mind out of a sad place, Flora cleared her throat and fake sighed dramatically. "Ji why did you get that?" Flora said pointing to the somewhat big plush grey bear-cat thing that Flora didn't know what it was.
Jikan quickly grabbed the plush and began hugging it in her arms. With fake tears in her eyes she said, "But it was so cute and without a home." Flora smiled warmly, Jikan pretty much only acted confident when the conversation was about UA, music, and anime/nerdy stuff as she called it. Seeing the usually very shy girl act so overdramatically causing Flora to start to laugh.
"Okay, okay. You've convinced me." Flora laugh as she grabbed the bill having finished eating and put down the about of money needed. Luckily it wasn't too much money, they had already spent so much on shopping and they still had more to do.
As Flora finished paying for their meal, she saw out of the corner of her eye she saw Jikan hugging the plush tightly in her arms starring that the school while murmuring the word, "Totoro" over and over again. This made her smile, the girl was so quiet and shy, doing things like this along with her shy nature made her look super adorable, almost like a timid five year old. She certainly looked something like that, maybe a tall five year old with a somewhat not flat chest, but still a five year old.
"Okay Ji, lets continue our quest." Flora smiled as the girl looked over to her with shinning shy eyes.
The two girls walked out of the restaurant holding two drinks that they had asked to go. As the two girls started to wonder the strangely busy streets, Jikan continued to stare at the school that she hoped would make her a hero. Having a drink in her hand while starring at a building and the streets being busy lead to Jikan accidentally spilling her drink all over Flora's new outfit. Flora having just got her new dress soaked, shrieked in shock.
"Oh no my dress!" She shrieked which caused Jikan to get nervous and start to apologize over and over again.
"I'm sorry Flora!" Jikan apologized shyly. She grabbed Flora's hand with very little stregth but it still work at leading the older girl. Jikan walked Flora to a little bench that was in front of UA and sat her down. "I-I'll go g-get you so-some napkins s-so it doesn't st-stain." Jikan stuttered as she dropped her stuff and started to run off quickly in search of napkins.
Being a very fast runner came in handy for the shy young girl for many reason, this included. Along with being fast she had learned to maneuver around things thanks to the Flos resident. Using these two great things of knowledge, Jikan ran pretty fast while doing a good job of moving around people. Once she found a store that had paper towels and stain remover, she quickly bought it and ran back into the fray. She tried her best to avoid more people while running even faster, but that didn't go too well. As she got close to where she had left her friend, Jikan bumped into someone making it so both people fell on the ground.
When Jikan felt the impact to the ground, she knew that she had also knock another person to the ground as well. She knew it wasn't a great thing to do but she was in a hurry and wasn't looking where she was going. When she opened her eyes she found another girl her age on the ground as well. This girl had black hair, blue eyes, and a face full of freckles.
"I-I'm so sorry!" Both the girls had said at the same time as they had noticed each other, this cause the blacked haired one to slightly laugh but Jikan was just embarrassed.
The other girl got off the ground and offered Jikan a hand up, Jikan shyly and slowly excepted. Once on her feet she quietly thanked the girl.
"No problem, s-sorry again." The girl said as she ran over to some of her friends. Once she had remembered that Flora was still on the bench, Jikan started to run again.
As she ran, Jikan over heard the other shy girl that she had bumped into saying something about "Little Timmy!" Pretty loudly which seemed to earn a laugh from whoever was near the girl. Jikan pretty much ignored it, well other than wondering if that girl was from a close by school like AU.
Jikan focus as hard as she could to get back to Flora quickly without knocking down anyone else. When she finally returned to the place she had started she saw a slightly scared Flora being talked to by some guys from her school. Jikan was confused and slightly angry, so she ran closer.
"Come on babe, come shopping with us. It will be more fun." A guy with black hair and dragon wings out of his back said in a sleazy way.
"Yah, now letsssss go." Another guy with a snake's tongue and snake scales hissed.
"N-no!" Jikan's eyes widened, she had barely ever heard Flora stutter. This was bad.
Jikan ran as fast as she could and finally got between her friend and the two jerk guys. Once there she stood her ground and looked at the two guy, obviously pissed as hell. Her purple eyes almost seemed to turn a red-ish purple color.
"Get away from her!" Jikan barked at the guys, causing Flora's eyes to widen in shock and the boys to snicker.
"Tai this girl looks familiar, now doesn't she?" The dragon wing guy snickered at his friend.
"Yah, sssshe doessss. It lookssss like it'ssss the quirklesssss girl from our classsss. Oh isssssn't her name, Weakan?" The snake boy hissed causing the other boy to laugh.
"Oh, yah your the girl that was too weak to even try to go to UA. How funny to see you in front of the place you wanted to go to." His expression changed to an annoyed one. "Now move, we want to have fun with her."
"Oh, go die in a hole you assholes!" Jikan cursed causing the two to look at her with angry expressions.
"What did you just sssssay?!" The snake boy hissed obviously now mad.
"You heard me, come one Flora."
Jikan grabbed Flora's hand, her hands were sweating since she had never really done something like this. Her heart was beating fast, but she wasn't in a mood to be scared. She just wanted her and her friend to get away from the two jerks as soon as possible. But before she could barely even more, she felt herself being pushed to the ground. Jikan looked up to see the dragon boy standing above her mad as hell. When she tried to get up again, he stepped on her ankle. It hurt but she bit her lip to not show much pain.
"It's amazing that such words would come from a girl who doesn't a quirk." He pushed harder down on her ankle. "You're going to pay for that, but first we're going to have some fun with your friend. Tai!" She looked over to see the snake boy grab Flora.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Jikan hissed at the boy as her eyes seemed to start to turn a dark red from anger.
"Like you can do anything to stop us." The boy quickly twisted his foot against her ankle causing the skin to slightly break. Then he walked back to the snake boy and Flora.
"We're going to have fun with you." The snake boy said, but before the could take Flora she ran.
Now Flora wasn't as fast as Jikan, but she knew she had to get out of there. Where did she run? Well she ran straight at the gates of UA. Jikan's eyes grew in horror as she knew what happened to things that went through that gate that weren't in anyway related with UA. That was smashed.
Jikan quickly got up from the ground, even if it hurt and ran as fast as she could to stop the impending death of her only friend. Since Flora was fast she got all the way under the gate before sirens went off and the gate started to fall. Time seemed to slow as Jikan pushed herself and finally got under the gate as well before the were crushed. In a matter of moments Jikan managed to push her friend out of the way of the gate and lift her arms up. She had only one chance at this and she knew it; but it was worth it.
The second Jikan's hands hit the metal that was crashing down of her she screamed the words she had barely said.
"Reversal!"
With this word yelled a purple tornado of a sand like element touched the metal and moved it upward as if reversing time on the gate. The sirens had stopped for a moment once the gate had returned to it's state before Flora had stepped under it. But this was only for a moment because the gate still detected something not UA authorized under it. Now this was the decision that would change Jikan life forever and she only had one choice. Would she jump left or right to avoid getting crushed by the gate again. Since that asshole had pretty much crushed her left ankle which wasn't helped by the fact that Jikan jumped forward and ran on that ankle to save Flora. This meant that instead of jumping right where Flora was, Jikan jumped left to avoid more injury to her already pretty injured ankle. Also to make sure that she made it, since if she jumped right she wasn't sure if she would make it all the way out with the pain in her ankle.
With this jump left, Jikan landed pretty hard on the grounds of UA high school for up and coming heroes. The gate hit the ground right after Jikan did. This made her slight cringe from the horrifying breaking sound, as if it was breaking the ground.
Once Jikan was able to breath again after the rush of adrenaline, she tried to stand. Bad idea. A splitting pain raced through her body coming from her ankle, this pain caused her to fall back to the ground. A small scream of pain escaped her lips, she looked down at the ankle. It was bleeding. Slightly, but it was still bleeding and hurting a lot meaning that it was probably broken.
"Ji!" She looked up as she heard her friend yell for her on the other side of the gate. " Are you ok?!" Flora asked very worried.
"Y-Yah!" She winched in pain. "Are those jerks still over there?!" Jikan yelled hoping the answer was no.
"No," Jikan sighed in relief. "They ran off when the siren went of and people started to gather in confusion. Are you sure you're okay?" The floral girl was obviously worried about her younger friend that just risked her life to save hers.
"I'll be okay! Now get home and tell your grandma I'll be a little late!" She winced in pain again. "And tell her to get a lot of pain killers ready!"
"But..." Flora wasn't sure what to say.
"I'll be fine, don't worry. Get home!" Jikan yelled trying her best not to sound like she was in too much pain. Flora hesitated for a second before yelling back that she was going home and for the purpled haired girl to be okay.
Once Flora left, Jikan waited about thirty seconds before she let out a scream of pain. Tears started to fall from her face as it her ankle started to swell. Through her tears, Jikan knew she had to be strong. She tried to sit up and it hurt a lot. She took a deep breathe and gabbed a handful of sand out of her pocket. Then put both hands with the sand in them on her ankle.
"Reversel, five minuets." The sand glowed a light purple before disappearing. Quickly Jikan stood up and when to the gate. The sirens screamed in the background and she was about to open the gate up again with her quirk. She put her hands on the gate and said the word but nothing happened.
"Stop right there." She turned around to see a man with black flouting hair and red eyes, her eyes widened. Next to the man was a giant rat standing on two feet with clothes on.
"Fifteen." Jikan quietly whispered under her breath to herself as she starred at the two heroes and teachers.
Aizawa's hair fell back to his back and his eyes stopped glowing as he looked somewhat bored at the teen girl that starred in shock in front of him. He had know idea what she was doing or even if she was a villain. He thought is wasn't the case but you never knew. Next to him Principle Nezu had his normal smile on.
"What are you doing here, young lady?" Nezu asked as the sirens stopped blaring in the background. It was lucky that some of the hero classes were out because they were doing training, but the siren was still causing choas inside the school.
"Five." The girl whispered as she looked at the two in fear.
"Aren't you going to ans-" Aizawa started but before he could finished the girl fell to the ground in pain. When she hit the ground the two heroes could see sand scattered around her ankle.
The two looked at each other in shock an confusion. With tears in her eyes, Jikan looked up at the two and shouted something that they didn't expect to hear.
"Please don't take me to jail, I'm s-sorry." The girl said right before she passed out from the pain. The two looked at each other again and sighed. This was going to be interesting.
