Chapter 17 ~ Going Back in Time (Again)

The bathroom was empty when we arrived there. I was glad about that, because I wasn't sure how Albus and I would've been able to tell a group of girls that we needed this bathroom. That would've been very awkward.

"This is it," Albus said.

"Okay, so what's the plan?" I asked.

"Engorgement," Albus answered. "Can you hand me the soap?" I fished a bar of soap out of the sink and backed away, eyeing Albus. "Engorgio!" he shouted, causing the soap to get bigger.

I widened my eyes, then nodded my head. "Nice. Consider me engorgimpressed."

"Sounds like something your mum would say," Albus said.

"Maybe, if she was actually impressed," I muttered.

"True. Maybe everyone was right about you and Aunt Max. Anyway, the second task took place in the Black Lake. The champions had to retrieve something that was stolen from them, which turned out to be--"

"--people they cared about," I finished for him.

"Yes. Cedric used a Bubble-Head Charm to swim through the lake. All we have to do is follow him in there and use Engorgement to turn him into something rather larger. We know that the Time-Turner doesn't give us long, so we need to be quick. We have to get Cedric, Engorgio his head, and watch him float out of the lake, away from the competition."

I nodded my head, still a bit confused. "Okay, so how are we going to actually get to the lake?"

All of a sudden, a jet of water emerged from the old Victorian sink, ascending a very familiar ghost. "Woah, that feels good. Never used to enjoy that. But when you get to my age, you take what you can..."

I laughed a bit. "Of course. You're a genius, Albus. Why didn't I think of Moaning Myrtle?"

Moaning Myrtle widened her eyes in disgust and scooped down to my face. "What did you call me?! Do I moan?! Am I moaning now?! AM I?!"

Scared, I shook my head. "No."

"What's my name?" she asked.

"Myrtle."

She shot me a creepy smile. "Yes, it's Myrtle. Myrtle Elizabeth Warren. A very pretty name, if I do say so myself. No need for the moaning."

I rolled my eyes. Yeah, whatever.

Moaning Myrtle began to giggle. "It's been quite some time since boys have been in my bathroom. That's not right. Although, I've always had a soft spot for the Potters, and I was moderately partial to a Malfoy, too. Now, how can I help you two?"

"You were there, Myrtle, in the lake. They wrote about you. There must be a way out of these pipes," Albus said.

She sighed, kind of like she was bored. "I've been everywhere. Is there a specific place you're thinking of?"

"Well..." Albus began, unsure of how to explain it. "The second task. The lake task. You know, in the Triwizard Tournament. Twenty-five years ago. Harry, Max, and Cedric."

Moaning Myrtle now had a sad look on her face. "Such a shame the cute Diggory boy had to die. Not that your father isn't pretty, but Cedric Diggory...you'd be surprised at how many girls I had to hear doing love indications in this very bathroom...and the weeping after he died."

"Does my mother know about this?" I questioned.

"Doubt it. She didn't care about anyone else, because Cedric picked her."

Wow. They must've really loved each other.

"Help us, Myrtle. Help us get into that same lake," Albus begged.

"You think I can help you two travel back in time?" she inquired.

"We need you to keep a secret," Albus said.

She gasped. "Oooh, I love secrets! I won't tell a soul. Cross my heart and hope to die! Or the equivalent of that...for ghosts, you know."

Albus nodded his head and pulled out the Time-Turner from his pocket. "We can travel back in time. You're going to help us travel the pipes. We're going to save Cedric Diggory."

"Well, we're going to try to save Cedric Diggory again," I corrected him.

Moaning Myrtle grinned. "Well, that sounds like fun."

"And we've got no time to lose," I added.

She nodded her head and pointed at the large sink. "This very sink empties directly into the lake. It breaks every bylaw, but this school has always been acquainted. Dive in and you will be piped straight to it."

Albus and I pulled ourselves into the sink, leaving our things on the cold and dirty floor. Albus reached into his pocket, revealing some green foliage in a bag.

"Albus, is that what I think it is?" I asked, shooting him a concerned look.

"Really, Scorpius?" he replied, rolling his eyes and handing me some of the green stuff. "Here. Some for me and some for you."

I took a closer look at the substance and realized what it actually was. "Gillyweed? We're using this to breathe underwater?"

"Just like my dad and your mum did. Now, are you ready?"

I nodded my head. "Remember, this time we can't be caught out by the clock."

Albus nodded his head in agreement. "Five minutes. That's all we have before we get pulled back to the present."

"Albus?"

"Yeah?"

"Please tell me this is all going to be okay."

Albus gave me an assuring smile. "It's all going to be okay. Are you ready?"

Before I could respond, Albus popped the Gillyweed in his mouth and disappeared down. "Albus!" I shouted.

Moaning Myrtle sighed once again. "I sure do like brave boys."

I looked down below me and swallowed hard, feeling scared and brave at the same time. "Then I'm entirely ready for whatever comes at me." With that, I put the Gillyweed in my mouth and jumped after Albus.

I felt myself slow down as soon as I hit the water. Opening my eyes, I saw that I had gills as well as webbed hands and feet. I felt like a cross between a fish and a duck. I looked over and saw Albus swimming beside me. By the sounds of the muffled cheering, we were very close to the surface, more specifically, the pier where the champions jumped off from.

BOOM!

After the cannon went off, three of the champions dove into the water, one of them being Cedric. With a bubble over his head, Cedric approached us, not noticing our presence. Albus and I rose our wands together and fired an Engorgement Charm through the water. Cedric turned around, seeing us for the first time. He shot us a confused look and then widened his eyes when the spell hit him, causing the water around him to turn gold. He began to grow and grow, making him panic. Albus and I watched as Cedric ascended helplessly through the water.

I turned to face Albus, who shot me a smile, and high-fived him in the water. I smiled back as we started to swim up to the surface. When Cedric got to the surface, people began to laugh. Suddenly, everything was becoming darker. It seemed like I was losing my vision. Before I knew it, I saw a flash of white light, and the Time-Turner stopped ticking. I finally emerged from the water, gasping for air.

"We did it! We did it, Albus!" I yelled in happiness. I was about to splash Albus when I realized that I was completely alone. "Albus?" I looked around me in worry. "Albus? ALBUS!" I was beginning to hear the sound of someone speaking Parseltongue in whispers.

"Scorpius Malfoy, get out of that lake right now!" a shriek came from behind me. I turned around to see a lady in pink standing at the edge of the pier, her arms folded over her chest, looking very upset.

I swam over to the ladder and got out of the lake, standing right before the lady. "I need your help!" I blurted out.

"Excuse me? I'm Professor Umbridge, the headmistress of Hogwarts."

"You're the headmistress? But--"

"I am the headmistress, and however important your family may be, it doesn't give you an excuse to dilly dally around."

"There's a boy in this lake," I explained, ignoring everything she just said. "You need to get help. I'm looking for my friend, Professor. He's a student at Hogwarts. His name is Albus Potter."

Professor Umbridge looked at me as if I was dumb. "Albus Potter? There's no such student. In fact, there hasn't been a Potter at Hogwarts for years. Those Potter twins didn't turn out so well. Not so much rest in peace, Harry and Maxine Potter. More like rest in perpetual despair. Total troublemakers."

"The Potter twins are dead?" I asked, feeling my heart drop a bit. Mum and Uncle Harry were dead? No, that wasn't possible.

"Dear boy, don't you pay attention in History of Magic? The Potter twins died as part of that failed coup on the school. They were those Dumbledore terrorists we bravely overthrew at the Battle of Hogwarts. Now come along. I don't know what game you're playing, but I will not let you ruin Voldemort Day."

I froze. "Voldemort Day?"

~~~~~~~
A/N: Wow! I actually posted on Harry and Max's birthday! Just beat the clock!
What do you think now? Why do you think Albus no longer exists, but Scorpius does, despite the fact that Harry and Max are dead?
Comment, vote, next chapter will still be in Scorpius' POV (I can get used to it tbh).
