Chapter 9| Things She Still Doesn't Know

Y/N was reading a text book to himself in class, as it was currently homeroom at the moment. Fuutarou told him and the quints that anything below a thirty would be considered a failing grade, so he urged them to study hard on their own.

While Y/N was studying by himself, so was Itsuki, sitting at her own desk. However, she was surprised when Fuutarou walked on over to her.

"Itsuki."

The red-haired girl looks at him annoyed. "What is it?"

"Oh, nothing. I just thought you were really trying hard. ...Working so hard even during a break, good job!" He abruptly yelled, making Itsuki flinch. "I heard that you also study at home. Never tardy, never absent, never absent-mindedly leaving your books at home, since we're in the same class, I know you're the most hardworking of the quintuplets."

"Am I?" She asked him with slight curiousness.

"Yes! You're only slightly dumb!"

She looked at him with a surprised and blank stare. A rising anger seemed to be welling within her, a cute but angered pout coming to her face.

"Come on, stop being stubborn and join our private tutor group!" He urged.

Suppressing the urge to snap at him, Itsuki puts on a smile. Rather, it was a fake one she was giving. But Fuutarou took it the wrong way and thought he was victorious.

"You're right!" She said, getting out of her seat. "It's true that there are some limits to studying alone. Can you explain to me this problem, sensei?"

"Of course...!"

He soon realized that she wasn't in front of him anymore. Fuutarou looked to the front to find Itsuki talking to the teacher.

"Okay, meet me in the staff room after school," the teacher replied to Itsuki's question.

"Thank you!"

He looked at her shocked for a moment, but a visible tick mark appeared on his head as Itsuki turned around and gave him a taunting look. He only grew even more annoyed, but he definitely wasn't going to give up.

As Itsuki headed back to her desk, she heard a conversation that was directed to a particular L/N teen.

"Ah! L/N-kun!" Y/N jumped in surprise at the call of his last name. "This bakery is run by your family, right?"

"Eh?" He began to grow nervous when the girl showed a magazine in front of him. She then pointed to a picture of the inside of his family's bakery. "Uh... Yeah."

"I guessed right! That sounds awesome!" She exclaimed with excitement.

A few more girls came over, one of them speaking up, "What are you talking about?"

"The magazine interviewed the bakery of L/N-kun's family!"

"Really?" The other girl asked. "That's incredible!"

Another one of the girls there spoke up. "Ah, I know this bakery!

"So you also know how to make cake, right, L/N-kun?"

"Yeah, a little bit," he meekly replied. He was shrinking in his seat.

"Eh? That's amazing!"

Fuutarou then appeared next to Itsuki. "Y/N is now surrounded by so many girls."

Anger began to rise within her, but she didn't show it. "Hm? Ah..."

"Well, it's rare..."

The boy then shrieked a bit, hearing a snapping noise. He then looked down at Itsuki's hand, the pencil she was using to write with was snapped in two. Fuutarou then looked up at her to see she was covered with a red outline? Either way, she seemed pissed.

"I-Itsuki...? What's wrong...?"

"I just broke my mechanical pencil accidentally. Lend me one, Uesugi-kun," she asks with a close-eyed smile. Well, it was more of an order than a request.

'"Mechanical pencil!?" She just broke it accidentally!? What we usually do is break pencil lead at most, right!?'

Y/N shivered in his seat slightly. 'Gee... I can feel some resentment behind my back.'

One of the girls from before spoke up, "Why don't you talk, L/N-kun?"

"Wh-What? This photo!" One girl said, pointing towards the magazine.

They all looked and Y/N froze in his seat. In the picture was him. But it wasn't the appearance people always saw of him. It was his more casual appearance, the one the quints and Fuutarou always see whenever he's out and about or if he goes home to change into. He then began to sweat profusely.

"Who's this guy?"

"...A... A boy who does part-time jobs in our bakery..."

"Eh? Will he be there when I go to the bakery?"

"He... He only works there during daytime on work days!" He said off the top of his head.

Another snap was heard. "Ah... I accidentally broke my ruler too..."

Fuutarou deadpans, handing Itsuki another ruler. "...Here you are."

--: Chapter 9| Things She Still Doesn't Know :--

After class, Miku, Ichika, Yotsuba, Y/N, and Fuutarou were in the library. However, they looked at the yellow-eyed boy questionably as a red hand print was on the side of his face.

"Are you okay, Uesugi-san?" Y/N asked.

"You don't have to worry, Itsuki and the rest of them will change," Fuutarou remembers his father's words from sometime ago. 'I haven't seen any changes since then... How am I supposed to make them change now...?'

Yotsuba then skipped in front of the boy. "Uesugi-san!~ Question! Do you notice anything different about me today?"

The orange-haired girl flashed him her usual grin, awaiting a response. However, she soon found that Fuutarou was no longer in front of her, instead in front of the others. He put his hands on the table, a desperate look on his face as he looked at the three of them.

"Do you guys even realize what's coming?"

"You're gonna ignore me!?" Yotsuba then recomposed herself. "A hint, then, it's from the neck up--"

"Ah, right! The camping trip!" Ichika interrupts her sister.

"I'm looking forward to it," Miku monotonously replies.

Y/N tilted his head. "The camping trip? When is it?"

Fuutarou's face darkened a bit, as if giving them a death glare. "Have you forgotten about the mid-term test? I'm speechless."

"How could I not know?" Ichika weakly laughed, sweat dropping in the process.

The boy sighed, "Do you even understand..."

"It seems like it's hard for Uesugi-san to understand," Yotsuba says, in a thinking position. She then gestured to her bow with a bright smile, "It's my bow! The pattern's different from usual! I heard that a checked pattern is in fashion this year!"

In quick motion, Yotsuba let out a yelp as she grew nervous. With an emotionless look on his face, mixed in with a deadpan expression, Fuutarou grabbed the girl's bow. He then yanked on it, shoving Yotsuba's homework into her face.

"It looks like your homework is in fashion then, all it has is checks, you must be so happy."

"A-Ah--It's so fashionable--" Yotsuba was sweating profusely.

Fuutarou then hears Ichika and Y/N chuckling to themselves, turning to the two with an annoyed glare. "You're laughing now? Yotsuba's still better, at least she still wants to study."

Y/N felt like he was stabbed in the chest, the words of Fuutarou impaling him. Figuratively, at least.

The boy then slams Yotsuba's homework onto the table.

"If things go on like this, none of you are going to pass! Don't even dream of going on the camping trip! The mid-term test is five subjects: Japanese, math, english, science, and social sciences! Starting now, we have to follow a study plan for a week."

The four of them collectively groaned. Fuutarou sighed in annoyance.

"That's why Miku should also study something besides history..." He soon stops himself short, gaining a shocked look as he looks at the material Miku was studying, "Miku is studying English, the subject she hates the most... Do you have a fever? If so, you shouldn't study, and get some rest!"

The girl with headphones pouted at him. "I'm fine. I just want to work a little harder," she said, tugging her headphones a little bit.

'I don't know why, but this is good...! But. Miku's grades are the same as before..." Sighing a little bit, Fuutarou puts on a small smile. "All right, everyone, let's try our best!"

---

It was now the end of the day. The school bell rung as it signaled the students that school was now over and they were free to leave.

Y/N was walking alongside Fuutarou, who was deep in thought. Yotsuba was the first to leave the building's front door, prancing off with a smile as the other two sisters followed slowly behind.

"Ah!~ I'm so tired!" Yotsuba yells.

"I just want to go straight home..." Miku mumbles to herself.

Whilst listening to her sisters' conversations, Ichika turned her head around slightly. Fuutarou was still deep in thought, planning out on how their study plan was to work when the mid-term tests were just around the corner in about a week. Y/N on the other hand.

'...I want a latte.'

'Hmm... There's not enough time if we study only after school... I wonder how much we can study during the weekend.'

Fuutarou's train of thoughts were soon caught off when he felt a gentle blow on the side of his face. He turned his head over slightly to see Ichika, to which she was blowing lightly. He jumped in surprise, his elbow hitting Y/N's face as the glasses teen grunts slightly, holding his face while Fuutarou looks at Ichika annoyed.

"Ow..."

"You don't have to think about it so much, you know?" Ichika says, tilting her head in a teasing-like manner. "The mid-terms aren't for expelling students. We'll also try hard. We'll definitely cooperate with you!"

Fuutarou began to feel hope... But those were soon shattered.

"And if there's a reward, we'll even try harder!"

Yotsuba rushes over to the three with stars in her eyes. "Ah, the fruit flavored parfait from the store in front of the station will be fine!"

"I want the matcha flavored one," Miku soon joins.

"Do they sell lattes!?" Y/N asks, disregarding his injured nose.

"L/N-kun, they sell parfaits only," Ichika explains with a sweat drop.

"Eh!? They don't sell lattes!?"

"Just talking about it is just making me hungry!" Yotsuba cheerfully explains.

Miku looks to her older sister, "Should we invite everyone there now?"

Fuutarou deadpans at all of them. "So you're not gonna go straight home?"

"There's no need to rush.~" Ichika calls out.

"Uesugi-san!"

Upon hearing Y/N's voice, he looked up. The boy was met with inviting smiles from the four of them, Yotsuba waving her hand over and gesturing for him to follow behind.

"If you don't hurry up, we'll leave you behind!"

He was stunned for a moment before he ultimately sighed and smile. As he began to walk along, hurried footsteps could be heard coming from behind. A voice would then call out to him.

"Stop right there!"

Y/N waited for Fuutarou to catch up, so he stopped as the three girls had went on ahead. The two turned around to see Itsuki running up to them, panting heavily as she was hunched forward, her hands resting on her knees as she was exhausted from all the running she was doing.

She then recovered and looked at Fuutarou annoyed. "How can you just leave by yourself after that? In that situation, usually you'd go together, right?"

"First of all, I wasn't alone," Fuutarou began, "And secondly, it's because I have to go home and study. Why did run after me just to say that?"

"No," Itsuki shook her head, extending her phone out to him. "There's a call you need to take."

"Huh?" Both boys were puzzled.

Curiously, Fuutarou took Itsuki's phone. "Hello?"

"Uesugi. My daughters have been troubling you," a familiar icy, cold tone comes in through the phone's speaker.

"Oh! Dad! Long time no talk!"

"You have no reason to be calling me 'dad,'" Mr. Nakano said, his tone devoid of emotion as usual.

Both Y/N and Itsuki deadpan at him. "There's no reason for you to call him 'dad.'"

"I'm sorry that I can't meet you in person. How are you? Is your tutoring going alright?"

"It's fine! I'm still doing my best!" Fuutarou proclaims. "Hey, hey, Itsuki, ask me that later."

The girl's deadpan expression only increased, Y/N standing next to her with a poker face.

"Everyone's paying attention. If they keep it up, there shouldn't be any problems."

Mr. Nakano let out an audible hum. "That's good to hear. I heard the midterm is coming, but, I'm happy to hear you're all studying so hard."

"...Eh?" Fuutarou froze in his spot.

"Even though it's a bit unfair, I'd like to use this as a test of your achievements as well. The midterm is in a week. If just one of the quints gets a failing grade, I'll find them a new tutor."

The yellow-eyed boy choked on his spit. He then abruptly shouted into the phone's speaker, making the other two jump a bit.

"Please reconsider! There's still a year and half before graduation. Aren't you being too hasty? Just dealing with five people alone is hard enough..." 'I'll be let go if anyone fails...? The midterm is next week...!'

The red-haired girl stood there, confused. Same thing with Y/N. They were confused as to why Fuutarou was talking so long with the phone call, as well why he just suddenly screamed in a desperate tone. They wondered if something had happened.

"I wouldn't feel at ease leaving my daughters in the hands of someone who can't handle a request of this level. Please allow me to give you this challenge," Mr. Nakano spoke, only Fuutarou hearing his voice.

"Uh..."

"Well then, I wish you luck." The phone let's out an audible click.

Mr. Nakano was now off the phone and hung up, leaving the boy stunned and speechless. He didn't mention the fact that he was already tutoring one other person, adding on five more making it harder already when the person he was already tutoring a bit of a dumbass. But still, with a condition like that, it seemed impossible for him to pass.

In frustration, Fuutarou raised his hand up, still grasping Itsuki's phone as he prepared to throw it onto the ground.

"That's my phone!?" Itsuki questioned.

"Ah! Uesugi-san, don't do anything rash!"

After prying Itsuki's phone from his hands, Y/N handing it back to the girl, Fuutarou was now deep in an inner monologue. How was he to prevent everyone from failing the midterm?

There wouldn't be enough time as it was just around the corner. Next week, even. Not only that, Nino and Itsuki don't even bother to listen to him nor attend the study sessions and lectures. Either way, the timing was lacking and the task put to him was quite possibly impossible.

Itsuki then spoke up. "What did my father say?"

"We were just chatting."

"Then why are you sweating?" The glasses wearing teen asked.

Itsuki deadpanned. "I find that hard to believe..."

"How about you worry about yourself before you worry about others," Fuutarou sighed. "Besides, you've got a plan for the midterm test?"

Upon being asked the question made Itsuki's heart skip a beat in nervousness. It was clear to the two boys that she didn't not even have a single game plan to tackle the the midterm. This made Y/N laugh, albeit very loudly as Itsuki looked at him with her usual cute pouting face.

Fuutarou then threw a notebook at Y/N's face. "Stop laughing, dumbass! You don't have a game plan either!"

"Why!?"

Itsuki cleared her throat. "O-Of course. There's no problem."

"Yeah, right. You did pretty bad on today's quiz, no?"

"You saw!?" She genuinely asked, surprised.

'Haa... So I guessed right.' Fuutarou began to think of something that wouldn't piss Itsuki off. He then grinned widely... Maybe a bit too wide. "If there's anything you don't understand, I'd be happy to teach you."

"Are you saying you don't trust me?"

'Ugh! She got mad anyway!'

"I told you, I'm not going to beg you to teach me," she said, turning the other way.

"B-But, Nakano-san!" Y/N recovered from the hit of Fuutarou's notebook. "You're a hard worker, you can't get far from studying on your own!"

"I know that, L/N-kun. But I refuse to get help from him."

Fuutarou grumbled in annoyance. "He's right when he said you're a hard worker, Itsuki. If you'd just ask for my help, I could make things much easier to understand. Why can't you be more like Miku and Ichika?"

Y/N looked at his friend, almost horrified. Itsuki had stopped walking, but refused to look at the Uesugi teen. Y/N kept looking back and forth between the two. He knew that the two of them were never the best on terms with each other, always arguing with each other over something. Sure, Fuutarou would always say something that'd be very dumb and stupid, some of things he says could be a bit uncalled for and things that didn't need to be said, he was a very genuine person. If you get to know him a bit, he could be a very good friend, as is proven with Y/N... Maybe.

The only problem was, what Fuutarou says can disregard a person's feelings. Which can lead to a multitude of arguments and problems, especially when it can it's currently a rocky relationship with a person like Itsuki.

"You may have forgotten, but," Itsuki began, then turning around with a cold glare. "I did ask for your help at the beginning. You were the one who turned me down. Learn from someone who doesn't want to teach? No, thank you."

Fuutarou clicked his tongue. "Are you saying that you can pass the midterm on your own?"

"Yes, I can," she said with a nod. "Even if I can't pass my midterm--"

"That's not enough!" The boy abruptly yelled. "If you fail this time, it's game over."

Itsuki looked confused. "Huh?"

"Stop being selfish and let me do my job!"

"Aren't you the one who's being selfish right now?"

"You want to raise your marks too, right?" Fuutarou then gritted his teeth, "Then just shut up and do what I say!"

That was the last straw. Realizing what he just said, he goes to apologize. Y/N figured that with what he had just said, it had just shattered the foundation he had been building up with her. The relationship of friendly teacher-student kind, and Fuutarou just pretty much demolished all of that.

"I had gotten a better opinion of you recently. But it seems I was mistaken. At the end of the day, you're just doing it for the money," the red-haired girl huffed.

"...What's wrong with working for the money?"

Y/N gasped. "Uesugi-san!"

"You can spout stuff like that because you can afford to live luxuriously," he said, marching up to the girl with star pins. "If it's not for work, who'd want to look after a spoiled brat like you?"

"...There's no need for you to force yourself to teach me. I'm not your money making tool."

"Is that so? I hope you don't regret it." A visible tick mark appeared on Fuutarou's cheek.

Itsuki nodded, "Yes. Even if I'm expelled. I would never learn from you."

"I would never teach you," he retorted.

Just hearing those words leave his mouth was enough for her to turn on her heels once more and leave. As soon as she disappeared from sight, Y/N looks to his friend with a disappointing stare.

Y/N soon shook his head.

"Why did you have to say all that, Uesugi-san," he said, indicating it wasn't even a question.

Disappointment was laced in his voice and he too turned on his heel, heading off after the red-haired girl. Not only did he lose one, but two students.

---

At the Nakano siblings apartment, it was quite obvious that Itsuki was distant towards the Uesugi teen. It didn't help that she also dragged Y/N with her to her room so they could study together.

Now, they were studying together, Y/N doing this so he could take her mind off the topic of Uesugi. Strangely enough though, the room was quite hot in terms of temperature, and the season was Fall, if not close to winter already. At the low table, Y/N tapped the end of his pencil on Itsuki's notebook, making her attention be cast onto his own notebook.

"Nakano-san, can I use this formula here?"

"Hm? Let me see. Well, since you used this formula, you need to..."

"Ah... Then the answer to this question should be--"

Itsuki shook her head. "No, you're wrong."

"Eeeehhh..."

"Come on! The midterm exam is just around the corner! Can you handle it!" She yelled, whilst hitting her pencil on his head.

Y/N laughed sheepishly after shrugging off the pencil hit. "Of course I can't!"

The two went silent as the heat inside the room only seemingly increased. Itsuki then sighed as she rested her head onto her hand.

"Sorry. AC doesn't work. The repairman will come tomorrow," she said.

"It's okay! I'm heat resistant. Although, I don't wear clothes when I'm sleeping," he simply blurts out.

"Oh..." She grew quiet for a moment before she slammed her hands on the table, making him jump. "Wha!?"

"Huh? Ah... No! I wear shorts!" They soon calmed down. 'I didn't think there was anything surprising about that.'

'Are all boys like this?'

'Speaking of which,' she thought, 'It always seemed easy for him to take off his clothes. Although, he hasn't done that recently. Ah, wait! Was I supposed to feel awkward every time he took off his clothes!?' She instantly thought.

"Nakano-san, can you tell me how to solve this problem?" He asked, but he failed to notice that she was still deep in thought.

'Dang it! What can I do? I'm starting to feel embarrassed now.' She blushed as she cleared her throat. "L/N-kun, can you show me your tattoos?"

"Hmm? Sure," Y/N nonchalantly replied, swiftly beginning to undo his clothes.

Bewildered and surprised, Itsuki slammed her hands on the table as she blushed harder, making Y/N jump in surprise again. "No! Don't do that!"

"Eh!?"

"How can you take off your clothes so quickly!? Won't you doubt others!? You're horrible!"

Y/N was now scared. "I think the sound made is more terrible."

"So, L/N-kun, you would readily take off your clothes in front of other people?" She questioned while also straitening her back.

"Huh!?" 'Gee, what does she mean?' "No. I actually can't do that because of my tattoos," he sweat dropped.

"Even in front of Uesugi-kun?"

Y/N thought about it for a moment. "...He's okay. I'll do that before him." 'Since he knows I have tattoos. But I'm surprised she's even talking about him.'

"You would do that because you're both males, right?" She pressed on.

"I-I think it all depends."

"W-Well, then--"

Y/N held up a hand to stop her. "Stop it! To put it bluntly, Nakano-san. What's wrong with you?" He asked in a semi-disgusted look.

Itsuki soon grew flustered. "W-Well, L-L/N-kun, you always behave so naturally. So I'm wondering if you would ever feel awkward, you know. I've almost never seen you feel shy. Isn't that true? When we're together, only I act flustered. And my face turns red easily."

"Yes, ma'am." He deadpanned.

"You used an honorific!" 'Holy crap!' She mentally screamed.

"Um... Was I supposed to feel awkward just now?" Y/N sat there for a moment before he began to undo his shirt again. "I see! Let's do it again!"

Itsuki then slammed her fist on the table. "No, no need! What's the difference? You still didn't act shy!"

"It's so hot. Wearing less keeps me cool."

"Huh!? But you said you're okay with that!"

"Wait, Nakano-san! Does that mean you think I would be indifferent to whatever I do myself or whatever other people do to me?"

"Errr... Yeah, a little bit."

The black-haired teen was shocked to hear that from her. However, hearing her say that made a memory pop in his head.

Scratching his cheek, he begins to tell her.

"Um... Actually, the other day... I met a junior high classmate. I didn't tell you that."

---

The other day...

Y/N was walking away and heading home for the day after school. However, he was soon called out to by a green-haired teen.

"L/N?"

Y/N turned around. "Hm? Lubbo!"

The boy known as "Lubbo" grinned. "Hey, long time no see! You're still wearing earrings."

The two began to chat as they walked down the sidewalk.

Lubbock Yoshitsugu, or Lubbo as Y/N calls him, is a friend of his when he attended junior high. He would be the only friend Y/N came to know during his time in junior high.

"Speaking of which, I envy you so much, L/N," Lubbock chortled. "Even you can be so lucky."

Y/N looked at him confused. "Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Come on! Don't play dumb!"

"Eh? You mean grade promotion?"

"Don't talk about that, you jerk!"

You see, Lubbock had to repeat a grade. But this is mostly due to his poor attendance at his school as he missed some days. A lot.

Lubbock quickly shook his head and flashed a quick grin at the L/N teen's direction.

"You've been close with a girl, right?"

"Hmm? Ah, yeah. She's my classmate."

"It sounds awesome," he proclaimed. "I also want to have a girlfriend."

"Huh!? No, no, she's not my girfriend!" Y/N denied.

Lubbock looked at him flabbergasted. "Are you kidding? Everyone says you're dating."

"Alright, I don't care about those kinds of rumors, but it's unfair to Nakano-san."

"You still call her Nakano-san? Why don't you call her by her first name. She's your girlfriend!"

An awkward silence then occurred between the two, Y/N staring at his friend as if he was an idiot. His eye then twitched.

"Th-Thanks for the reminder."

"Ah! She's very popular, right?"

"Um... I guess so. Some guys have confessed to her." Although, Y/N can hardly stand it though.

Unexpectedly, Y/N's shoulders were grabbed by the green-haired teen. Lubbock began to shake Y/N repeatedly, much to his dismay and repeated protests of doing so.

"Then how come you just don't take it seriously!? You must keep close watch over!"

Y/N choked on his spit. "What the heck do you want!?"

---

Present Day...

After explaining his little story, Itsuki looked at him with a bit of pity. Well, more like it was an expression of disbelief with her sweating a bit. Y/N leaned back slightly as his body weight was supported by his hands.

"That's it." He then sighed, "Well, I never expected he would think you're my girlfriend. That really made me feel awkward."

The red-haired girl laughed awkwardly as she looked away. Unfortunately for her or fortunately, depending on the way you look at it, Y/N failed to see the growing feelings she began to have for him. She didn't even know why she had suddenly began to grow these feelings for him, but it all started on the day they first met.

Before anymore conversations could be picked up, the L/N boy's phone went off as the notification ringer began to make a sound.

Y/N then picked up his phone. "Anyway, just forget about it, Nakano-san. Next time, I'll clearly tell him you're not my girlfriend." The words that escaped his mouth felt like daggers stabbing into her.

Itsuki readjusted herself, showing no sign of sadness she once had. "R-Really? A-Actually, you don't have to do that," she said, shuffling in her spot.

"Ah! It's from the guy I just mentioned!" Itsuki flinched at the increased volume of his voice. However, he didn't catch what she said. "He... He sent me a message."

Just as he was about to speak, he soon paused himself as he held his voice back. It was like a vacuum that had just suddenly stopped it's air intake to take things off a carpet. Itsuki tilted her head confusedly as she stared at him, the boy only keeping his eyes glued to his phone's screen.

It was a message. Y/N's mouth was agape as he read it.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Huh?"

Itsuki leaned forward with a grin. "Ah, it contains an image? Let me have a look!"

"Waaah!" He grew surprised at how close Itsuki had gotten. He soon moved back and pulled his phone away, much to Itsuki's disappointment as she outreached her hand, begging Y/N to let her see.

"Hey! You make me even more curious about it!"

"Please just forget about it!" Y/N yelled while getting even further away.

"Don't use an honorific again! Hey, don't be so stingy! Let me look!"

'What's wrong with that jerk!?' Y/N thought as he opened the image attachment. His eyes widened in disbelief.

It was a picture of Lubbock and an auburn-haired girl. The two seemed to be very close as his arm was looped around her shoulder, his fingers doing a peace sign. Y/N then read the text message.

"I have a girlfriend now. Heehee. She's very cute, isn't she? Next time, we four can hang out. I promised her that, so please do take it seriously. By the way, don't forget contraception at that time!" The message read.

Y/N stood up quickly, causing a ruckus to occur as some of the things on the table falling onto the floor.

"No way!"

Itsuki jumped slightly. "Eh? You freaked me out." She then sweat dropped, hearing Y/N's fingers clicking and tapping away at his phone's buttons. "Ah... I've never seen you act so flustered before." 'Speaking of which, you seldom talk about your junior high school life. I didn't expect you would have any friends.'

"Um, well, that guy's an idiot," he responded, waving his hand repeatedly to dismiss what she said. "I'm serious."

At the same time, Y/N was dialing Lubbock's phone number, his phone letting out a "tooting" noise as the call was being made. An audible click was heard as the green-haired teen from the other side picked up, his voice ever-so cheerful.

"Hello! Eh? Is that L/N?"

"Go die!" Y/N screamed to the top of his lungs into his phone's speaker.

He then ended the call. The room grew quiet as Itsuki stared at him, another sweat dropping expression appearing onto her face.

"You used to talk this way to your classmates in junior high school?" She asked.

"Uh..."

She deadpanned once more. 'I never thought he would also get mad over something.'

Y/N was sweating profusely. "Sorry, I just couldn't help it."

"Well, then how about you talk to the others in this way too?" She said, referring to her sisters.

"Ah, I don't think I can manage to do that until I'm closer with them," Y/N stated, rubbing the back of his head in a sheepish manner.

'...How can he act so modest in such a situation? That's weird.' "Aren't you very close with them now?"

"Eh? Really?" He then laughed.

"Come on! The way you smile is disgusting!"

"Eeehhh?"

As he continued to laugh, Itsuki's face relaxed. She continued to stare at him for such a long time, like she was entranced. Many thoughts and questions were running rampant throughout her mind.

'I've never seen that kind of expression on his face before. What did people think of him in junior high school?"
