Blight's POV

"Wait!" I say, turning around. The Peacekeepers release me and retreat behind me. "Wait," I say softer now. The stone stage seems empty and hollow. I catch one of Megaera's little sisters, and look her in the eye. I think it was the one she volunteered for.

"When she died, Megaera asked me to tell you something," I swallow hard, keeping the tears from spilling, "She said that she loves you all so, so much. That she didn't die in vain. She died to save you," the tears are spilling now, along with her sister's.

"That's all. She wanted you to know that, and now you do. May she rest in peace."
I turn to leave the stage, and out of the corner of my eye I see true thanks in their eyes.
