Chapter Eleven ... Brand New Faces

POV
Soren

Like no time had passed Stone and I were back in a place of love, we still saw our therapist, and she insisted we up our meetings to three times a week. Of course, nothing good could ever last, Cole had finally calmed the storm, and he and Caleb seemed to be making an effort, yet the glow of growth that we all were under would soon turn dark. It started with a call from Philip to Stone, he asked to see both of us.

Which meant we had to get up in the middle of the night after a very hard day of Stone running drills, and Cole, Campbell, and I working the fields. Phil  was found standing in the darkened hallway of the second floor, he stood outside of Stone's office, a brown skin man standing beside him.

"Who's this?" Stone asked, his voice a hard and annoyed sounding growl.

"This is Arlaze, he's from Polos, it's the kingdom in the high northwestern mountains of Adornia, he's an Enchanter, can we talk in your office?" Phil announced. I took in the man who had yet to say anything, he was brown skin with really gray eyes, they looked like two orbs of glass, reflecting so many emotions. He was ma'jek, and he felt even stronger than Phil.

Once behind the mahogany door, once seated in a seat beside Stone, I really focused on the man, he was unshaven, his eyes though intense were tired, he smelled of stress and that wild ma'jek. {Energy]

"Arlaze is here because of what happened with Jaka, his ma'jek sent a signal to the head Seer of the kingdom, Jaka's the new keeper of the Prime Enchanter, he's destined to serve and guard the Prime," Phil  explained.

"The Prime is the king Enchanter, right?" Stone asked.

"Yes, and the keeper is the Prime's chief protector, I need to train Jaka before the Prime's power shifts," Arlaze answered.

"You mean a new king is gonna be chosen?" Stone asked, sounding like he knew more about Enchanter business than I did, which being as though Phil helped raise him, wasn't entirely odd.

"The new king has yet to be revealed, but the heads of Polos and I believe an attack was already made on your pack by the present Prime, I think it best I moved into your pack to train and protect Jaka," Arlaze said.

"There haven't been any attacks in months, no rogues, no hunters," I said.

"When you guys were little there was an attack, at the time we thought it was just Nancy and a witch, but we were wrong, the Seer believes the witch was the Prime, she believes the attack was just a way for the Prime to wipe out the pack so that Jaka wouldn't be born. Jaka's the only one strong enough to protect the next Prime." Phil explained, and I did remember the witch attack from my younger years.

"So, you want to move here, why not take Jaka to the other world?" Stone asked, his demeanor more serious, more Alpha-like.

"The Prime is more powerful than any Enchanter, and he refuses to give up his power, he's killed dozens of Potential Primes, Arlaze and others in his profession have tried for centuries to bring  Prime Akeem to justice, to execute him and release the Prime's power. He knows Jaka is the next Keeper and he'd have easier access to Jaka in Adornia, whereas the shield around our pack has been shown to keep him at bay. The coven that created it used a rare and powerful ma'jek, and I fortify it daily. Jaka is most safe here with me and his mother, with his pack." Phil said.

Two days after our late night chat with Phil and the new pack member Arlaze, the first attack happened, a band of rogues was spotted. The border wolves normally handled rogues like it was nothing, but a call flew down the pack link urging every pack member to get to the packhouse or to go to their panic rooms. I was cooking lunch with Cole when he looked over at me, his eyes were glazed over and I knew he was having a vision.

"The rogues are corpses, they'll kill but won't die. My brothers are here too, tell Stone to call everyone back to the packhouse, these wolves won't be stopped, tell Caleb I left to deal with my past." He blinked rapidly before moving towards the door.

"Cole we need you, we'll deal with everything together as a pack," I said, running and jumping in front of him. Cole pushed pass me and headed upstairs.

"I can't let them hurt someone." He said. I followed him out of the kitchen, and as we walked out into the kitchen hallway, Stone happened to be rushing by. I instinctively stopped him.

"Issue the protocol, Cole had a vision, it's definitely the Prime," I said. He assured me he would put the shield up as soon as every pack member was safe.

"Stone, my brothers are here. The shield won't stop them, especially Jordan. I gotta go handle them, keep everyone outta the west bend." Cole said going straight out the back.

"Stay here," Stone commanded, I watched him go then turned to follow Cole, he was so not understanding that he was already pack. Leaving meant dying for him, besides I wanted to see who he was running from. From what Cole told me he loved his brothers.

It wasn't long before I caught up to Cole, he hadn't gotten that deep into the woods, the pack had gone quiet. "We are on alert, we shouldn't be out here," I said.

"You shouldn't be out here, Luna," Cole grunted. I rolled my eyes continuing to follow him.

"Are you sure they're here, I don't smell anyone," I said.

"Trust me, Jordan has Zenith level telekinesis, he can use it become invisible. He used the scent blockers we used when we'd do missions, you should head back, this could go bad." Cole said.

As I was about to respond, a haze brushed over the trees, and Cole stopped. "That was just the shield going up," I said.

"Come out," Cole demanded and a ripple effect occurred in midair. Another ripple and three men appeared. They were all extremely tall and strong and in some form of half dress.

"Are you gonna explain yourself or fill the air with the smell of fear?" The tallest asked. It did occur to me that the shield hadn't even touched them. So they were either Uber powerful or they had mates on pack.

Anything is possible.

"The professor wants to breed me, he used me, I had to go. Besides, I am tired of the killing." Cole blurted.

"He asked us to bring you back. I said I would." The tallest, who I guessed was Jordan, said.

"You aren't stronger than me. Just let me go." Cole said, stepping forward a gush of wind following him.

"Please, Cole, we are family. I know about the mate, Landon had a vision, he and Dad are... Losing it. You know?" Jordan asked.

"Look clearly they aren't here to hurt you, can we take this back to the house?" I asked, trying not to notice how attractive these men were.

"You're the werewolf I dreamed of, nice to meet you. Thanks for taking care of my little brother," Jordan said, his shirt in his hands, his tattooed chest on display. He was bearded and looked at me like he knew everything I was thinking. I wasn't sure if he was Black or Latinx. It really didn't matter, I wanted to be back inside the packhouse and safe.

"Someones attacking your pack, and you're just gonna let us into your house? Are all werewolves dumb or is it just you?" One of the others asked, he had light brown skin with hazel eyes and locs. He was wearing a mesh tank top that showed off his hard body.

"Cole, we need to be inside right now, you don't understand how dangerous..."  I was cut off by Cole grunting out fine, while still looking suspiciously at his brothers. The five of us turned and headed back and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Back inside the house the four of them started talking, well more like the three of them, the brother with the jacket on was staring at me with a look that made me blush. He was wearing a jacket, open with no shirt. I blinked away the desire to look at his chest and abs.

"Landon is vile, he is completely brainwashed, he really thinks Dad is in the right of things, he likes the killing, I didn't want to but I knew we needed to leave when Dad started hinting at Landon and Ben being perfect for breeding," Jordan explained.

"Jordan he is not our father, he's a scientist and he used us. Used us for war and now he wants to breed us, no way, I say fuck him, and fuck the agency. We came here to get you, we're gonna sneak out the country, maybe hit Botswana." The loc-headed one said, and I sighed.

"Are you gonna introduce me?" I asked. Cole rolled his eyes, saying they definitely already knew who I was.

"Well, I'm not psychic," I said, rolling my eyes. Cole then introduced Jordan, the loc head, he introduced as Marcus, and the one eyeing me was called Benjamin.

"You all could just stay here." I offered.

"Soren, you don't know the danger having us here will bring," Cole said and I sighed.

"Right now your pack is under attack, we need you, and I'm sure four high-level psychics could spot trouble before it even happens, not to mention the ma'jek protecting the pack. It would seem you all would be safer here than off in the world." I explained, watching the wheels turn in their heads.

As they stood around me thinking, a haze of giggles came from outside of the kitchen, and in walked Bastian, Charlie, and Freddy. It was hilarious watching the three of them freeze at the sight of the A-types.

"I could stay," Benjamin said eyeing the three Omega.

POV

Stone

"We are on lockdown until further notice, the packhouse and several of the houses surrounding it will have to be used as a haven for all of us until our enemy is beaten. Before you ask, I don't know how long that will be, and yes I know the shield is currently up, but we can not risk it." I was explaining to the pack what was happening.

"Why are we being attacked?" The Gamma Titus asked.

"We are being attacked by an other worldly danger, an Enchanter who does not want his reign as King to end. A member of our pack has the power to stop the Enchanter, so because of this we are a threat." I answered, and some people stood up.

"No doubt you're talking about Phil and Lucy's boy, whose to say we all want to risk our lives for that boy." An older man snapped, he was someone I saw around but I didn't know him.

"He's a kid, he's a member of this pack, he's family and more importantly I've already decided, so unless you want to leave... sit down and let me finish my words." I said, allowing my Alphahood to shine.

"What about the psychics, we already dealt with the Beta's mate flooding the..."

"Niles I suggest you keep my mate outta your mouth or I'll personally walk you to the border, my mates brothers are staying here until they feel like leaving, what the hell is wrong with all of you? Stone doesn't owe any of you an explanation." Caleb growled.

"You're right... effective immediately... there will be no drills, round the clock border patrol and no one is to be outside. Everyone dismissed. War council will meet me in the war room."

                                                                                           #     #     #

In the war room I was seated, around me were most of the pack warriors, all the teams, as well as Zeke, Titus, Caleb and the pack General. "So worst case scenario, the shield comes down and then what, we all end up slaughtered?" Zeke asked the question, and a murmur went through the room.

"Calm down, this is not that major, the Prime is not stupid, he's not gonna get in, we got enough food to last nine months, we will be fine. Caleb, what do you know about Cole's brother's?" I asked, cause I didn't know them and I didn't trust them.

"They are subhumans like Cole, but their A-types, near as I can tell their a lot like Alpha's, they are high level psychics, on the run from the Government. The Luna wants them to stay." Caleb said, and I rolled my eyes, Soren was too trusting, but the A-types were the least of my worries.

"For now we just wait this thing out." I said.

A week into the protocol we were all holding up, the packhouse was packed and I was losing my mind. I was tired of the complaining, I was tired of having no hot water, I was just plain ole tired. Soren was holding his sanity together by a thread. He and Cole couldn't seem to stop fighting over every little thing, so imagine my relief when the head border wolf Aiden reported all borders clean. "Not a single sighting?" I asked.

"We are still running round the clock but the borders have been clean for eight hours, the dead rogues abandoned their post sometime around midnight. No sign of anything else." Aiden explained. I dismissed him, just as my office door burst open, the sound of eighty uncomfortable werewolves muttering loudly filled my office.

"I need to hide in here for a bit, too many people talking to me at one time." Soren whispered, shutting the door behind Aiden.

"We can't live like this. I think we should let people get back to their homes." He said, and I laughed at the sour face he was making.

"It's only been a week, I hate this just as much as you, but we need to keep everyone safe. I have some good news though, the borders have been clean for some hours. If things stay clean we should be back to normal in a few weeks." I said, smiling at the whimper he let out.

"We need to come up with a better plan, Phil and Arlaze have to come up with something, we need..."

"Come here." I said, interrupting him, stopping him from going on a pointless rant. He came around my desk, and sat down in my lap. I kissed the nape of his neck, watching him sigh, watching his body relax.

"I'm taking you out, this weekend, we'll go skating, maybe see a movie." I said, holding him closer, loving the vibrations that went through me at the feel of our skin touching.

"I haven't been skating in forever, don't think your slick, I still want Phil and Arlaze to do something, we can't hold out forever, they need to train Jaka faster." Soren said, and I let him vent, placing gentle kisses on his neck.
