The Brave Princess and the Cowardly Knight - Version Three
Once upon a time in a kingdom forgotten to history, the peace was disrupted by an evil dragon, whose sole purpose was to completely destroy everything in the kingdom. It burned down villages and cities, ruthlessly murdered thousands of innocent villagers (and city goers), and burned down farmland that went on for miles. Something must be done.
Once upon a time back in a majestic palace, a young princess by the name of Eloise was living. Eloise hated her life. She often wished she wasn't born a princess or even a female. You see, Eloise's only dream was to become a knight. Of course, since she was the heir to the Arcanis throne, she wasn't allowed to do anything that might put her or the royal line of successors in jeopardy. Poor Eloise was all alone, clinging to a secret, hopeless dream that would never come true. But she refused to give up. Eloise trained in secret and forged her own armor in the middle of the night. She was ready to defend her kingdom no matter the cost.
Once upon a time in the villages of Arcanis, a young boy by the name of Alexander was living. He lived with his sickly mother and five brothers as the sole caretaker of his family. Alexander's father died a brave and honored knight fighting the dragon. It was expected of everyone that he also live out that same life. It was fate. Destiny. However, Alexander didn't see it that way. In fact, he prayed every single day that it wasn't the case. The poor young boy was deathly afraid of just about everything, especially the horrible dragon who murdered his father. When he was drafted to join the King's Army, he tearfully left his mother and five brothers, knowing he must do this to help them survive, (for they would be getting immense payment) and knowing that he was most likely to die. All the other knights teased and made fun of him. They called him "Cowardly Knight" and made sure he had no friends. Poor Alexander hated his current life and would do anything to change it, or at least go back to the life he lived before.
One fateful day, the dragon made its way to the palace overnight. Without warning, it attacked. Eloise woke up to screaming. The temperature everywhere was skyrocketing as the palace caught on fire. Eloise knew that this was now her time.
As Eloise was preparing for her fight, the entire cavalry was marching out, most of them on horseback. Poor Alexander was on foot, his fear overtaking him. The dragon was ruthless. He didn't know how he was going to get past this.
The dragon roared and blasted them with fire. A bunch of soldiers died instantly from the heat exposure. Alexander had thrust his shield up to protect him from the flame. He gulped in fear. He knew the only way he could even attempt to survive was to face his fear.
Before the dragon could advance any farther, Alexander stepped up. His cowardice kept his feet planted to the ground. He raised his sword in an attempt to kill the dragon. His fear caused him to freeze.
The dragon laughed. This mortal thought he could kill it? Ha! It would be a delicious five seconds as the dragon planned to swallow him whole.
Before that could happen, a thundering battle cry was heard. Eloise rode out on horseback and stopped between Alexander and the dragon. She shouted something at the dragon before throwing her sword like a spear into its flank. It roared in pain before falling to its death. Alexander was still frozen to the spot. Everyone was silent for a moment as Eloise effortlessly sliced the dragon's head off. At this action, the entire cavalry roared in celebration. They were all shouting to know who their savior was.
As Eloise took off her helmet, her long blonde hair blowing in the wind, the entire cavalry gasped. They had been saved by the Princess? Alexander couldn't even hear the things she was saying to them. He was in utter shock. He suddenly fell to the ground, overcome with shock and trauma. He felt tears begin to flow down his cheeks. Eloise knelt down in front of him and offered her hand to help him up. Alexander grasped her hand and gasped as he felt the electricity pass between them. He ignored it as he stared into Eloise's sky blue eyes. Had she always been this beautiful?
Eloise was having similar sentiments run through her brain. How could a Knight so cowardly be so brave? And so handsome? Before her thoughts could continue, she was interrupted by her father's screaming.
Eloise listened to her father's contemplations. He was upset that she had disobeyed his orders, yet he was elated that she had excelled in her purpose. His resolution was that Eloise could be officially knighted. Eloise had never been happier.
Years later, the King and Queen were both dying. Eloise was called to take over the leadership of her country, and she knew exactly who she would share it with.
Eloise and Alexander married shortly before both of her parents died. They ascended to the throne as amazing leaders. They cared for their people and country, and they did all that they could to protect and defend them. After all, they were both warriors. They went on many adventures together, but ultimately, life and love was their greatest adventure.
Author's Note: Sorry if this sucks, I just wanted to get something out there for y'all.
