Chapter 3.
Alpha George's POV.
My plans had been to go to my room and let myself grieve, but it seemed this world had other plans for me. The second I stepped into the place we called a pack house, which in reality was just a storage like building that was considered my fathers office as well, I was stopped by the head guard.
" Sir, what do we do for dinner tonight? No one's been able to go hunting. " he said.
My eyes widened. I have to feed this entire pack by myself? " I thought dad had you all on scheduled hunts?" I asked.
" He did, but plans changed today when you had to rush him to the hospital. We had to stay to protect the pack. " he said.
" Dang, uh, ok this is fine. I can think this through. " I muttered to myself walking to set my dads urn on the desk.
" How much food does everyone have?" I asked.
" Not much. Most of us only have bread, some milk and cereal, a few canned goods, but that's about it. " he said.
He leveled me with a look. " I'm willing to chip in with the money I have to help buy everyone some food for tonight. " he offered.
I looked at him shocked. He had a daughter and a mate. I can't take from him. Then I remembered the money I was given. I pulled the cash out of my pocket. " You won't have to. " I said
I explained to him what happened today and how I got this money. He smiled brightly. " Let's get everyone together and pick a few different restaurants. I'll get their orders and go pick them up. Then with the remainder of the money we can send out a group to the grocery store in the human town and pick up groceries for everyone. " I said.
" Sounds like a good plan Alpha George. I'll send a mind link out. " he said turning and walking away.
I turned to my dads urn and slumped down a little. I picked it up and walked over to the mantle we had over the only fire place in this building. I set it on top and smile. " Don't worry dad. I'll make you proud. " I whispered before walking away.
The pack wasn't very big. We only had about forty members. I needed to find a way to help this pack grow but I don't even know where to start. This is going to be far more difficult than I thought.
We took awhile getting everyone's orders and I placed each and every order to different restaurants. Once they were all filled two packs members took the car and went to pick up everyone's orders.
Soon we were all sitting outside in the grass eating our food. As we ate we all started to talk. " Can you two us what was wrong with your father that caused him to pass away?" Asked one of the elderly pack members. His name was Steven.
" He ended up being diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. He was only given days to live but once he gave me his Alpha powers he passed away. " I said sadly.
" I'm so sorry for your loss. " said Steven. All the pack members said the same thing to me.
" Thank you all. I only hope I can be even half the Alpha that he was. " I said.
" You'll be just fine Georgie. You have all of us by your side. You're not alone in this. " said Maggie.
I smiled gratefully at everyone as they agreed to what she said. " That means a lot to me. " I said.
Once we finished eating a few pack members started to collect the trash and the sun was almost set. " We will run the perimeter once more before we go to bed. Just to make sure everything is fine. " said my head guard.
I nodded and made my way around our little town. I made sure everyone was in their houses and safe before I made my way to my house. As I got closer I saw Maggie out there waiting for me.
I smiled and we stood in silence at the door to my house as I waited to the guards to make it back safely. Once they were back I sent them to their houses and let myself and Maggie into my house.
Once the door was closed and it was just us I could feel my body start to tremble. She gently took my hands and led me over to the little fold out couch we had that I used as my bed. She sat me down
" It's just up now. It's ok to cry. " she said.
At her words I felt the tears well up fast and she hugged me. I broke down in her arms and started to sob my heart out at the loss of my father.
She just spoke comforting words and held me tightly as I cried. I simply let the tears flow. I don't understand why this had to happen. How am I supposed to take care of a pack on my own at my age. I'm too young for this. I'm not mature enough. I don't even know if I have what it takes to be an Alpha.
" Hush, don't say things like that. " said Maggie.
I must have said that out loud. " You are an Alpha's son George. You have what it takes to be Aloha and more. It doesn't matter what age you are you can do this and we will be by your side every step of the way. You aren't alone. You'll never be alone in this. You are the most mature teenager I've ever seen. You fed this entire pack tonight. I'm so proud of you. I don't understand why this happened, but I promise you, it will all make sense one day. " she said.
" B-but I.... I c-can't... I d-don't.... I miss him!" I cried.
" I know you do sweetie. I do too. It'll be hard for a while but things will be better soon. You'll see. " she said.
I soon cried myself dry of tears and simple laid limply against her. She gently lowered me on to the bed and ended up holding me and together the two of us fell asleep, simply enjoying each others company and not wishing to be alone.
