Lavender and Lily-Sunwoo x Haknyeon

✨hello! it has been a while but your girl has had writer's block and a lot of work but this is a request from someone(they will be tagged in the comments). enjoy! ✨

The white blossom trees were entering that phase where the bud in the center of the flowers turned a light shade of pink. Haknyeon loved to stroll through the park and enjoy the fresh smell of flowers, grass, and nature. In his free time, after class when he needed to de-stress, he would find himself going to the park and making flower crowns. So far, he had ten crowns, meaning that he needed one more to complete the set. The missing crown was Sunwoo's. Ah, Sunwoo, thought Haknyeon, what flower should I use for you? Hmm...

You're probably wondering why Haknyeon is taking so long to make Sunwoo a flower crown, they are the closest in their friend group so he should know what suits Sunwoo best. He had no trouble picking out the roses and chrysanthemums for Juyeon's crown, trying to find colors that compliment both his looks and his aura. It was even easier to make a crown for Kevin, the peonies camouflaging with his light pink hair. But this isn't just a flower crown. Haknyeon is planning on confessing to Sunwoo when he gives him the one that belongs to him. The problem was that he could never get Sunwoo alone, seeing as the younger boy seems to be avoiding him these days.

Haknyeon thought they were pretty close, the closest in the group if he is being honest but things had been changing recently. Sunwoo had started hanging out with Hyunjin and Felix from their grade and from the dance club. He knew that the trio had always known of each other but he didn't think they were close enough to chat up a storm in the cafeteria or during class. All in all, Haknyeon was feeling neglected by Sunwoo and he didn't know why. His friends had some suspicions but they didn't dare utter a word.

Sunwoo was talking to Felix and Hyunjin when he suddenly noticed Haknyeon headed their way with a rectangular white box in his hands. The boy seemed nervous, noticed Sunwoo. But he didn't stick around and ran away down the hall before Haknyeon could reach the trio.

"Hey," said Haknyeon, "where did Sunwoo go? He was just here a second ago."

Felix offered him a smile before saying, "Hey Haknyeon, I don't know. He was here but he dipped as soon as he saw you..." Hyunjin nodded along to his words.

"Oh-um, guess I should go then. Haha, thanks, guys." The two boys watched Haknyeon walking away with his head down, the box no longer in his hands.

Haknyeon would like to say that this was the first time that he had seen Sunwoo run away from him, but it wasn't. He thought the younger boy was just going through some things and needed space for himself. But the thing is, Sunwoo always needed space from other people but never from Haknyeon.

Crestfallen, he threw the box in his hands to the side, not looking at where it landed. It was pointless. Sunwoo didn't like him as a friend, so how the hell was he supposed to see him as more than that? As he approached the doors of the school building, he noticed how the sky had turned an ugly dark grey and water dropped at 40mph from the sky, almost as if they were mocking him. To make things worse, Haknyeon had forgotten to bring an umbrella so here he was, wet and sad. Great.

Deciding that moping around in the rain wouldn't do, no matter how much he would love to sing in the rain(under happier circumstances of course) he decided to head home.

He plugged in his headphones into his phone, hitting shuffle on his "sad bitch hours" playlist, and listened to the melodic voice of Mitski.

Wild women don't get the blues/But I find that/Lately, I've been crying like a/Tall child

So please hurry leave me/I can't breathe/Please don't say you love me/胸がはち切れそうで

It wasn't long before Haknyeon noticed the tears falling down his face, the salty liquid mixing with the acid rain that poured from the clouds above. He felt like he had his own personal cloud that followed him around...it wasn't nice. Getting rained on was the last straw for Haknyeon, it was his breaking point. His emotions had been building up for the past month and he had found no relief but sitting on his knees here in the rain, was all it took for him to let everything go. He didn't care if passing cars noticed him or if any lingering people walked by him, he was tired and he needed to cry.

After a good twenty minutes of crying and just letting go, Haknyeon looked up and saw a familiar figure at a nearby bus stop. Said familiar person was talking to a girl from his grade and was holding something eerily familiar to Haknyeon: Sunwoo's lavender and lily crown. Sunwoo was gently patting the girl on the shoulder and even brushed back her hair after the rain made it lose its curly pattern.

Haknyeon couldn't watch anymore and hurried past the couple, breaking into a sprint. All the while, he was tightly holding a matching lavender and lily crown in his fist.

Sunwoo thought he noticed Haknyeon running by and before he thought about it too much, he paid the girl and went running after the boy.

"Hak! Hak! Slow down, will you?!" screamed Sunwoo after the red-haired boy.

Haknyeon could feel himself beginning to get tired so he stopped running, crouching down on the ground, trying to regain his breath.

"Jesus, Hak. When did you turn into freaking Usain Bolt? Do you know how long I had to chase you for-"

"What do you want Sunwoo?" asked Haknyeon, a tired expression on his face.

"What do you mean, what do I want? You clearly ignored me and ran right past me just now!"

Haknyeon offered him a tired laugh before saying, "Ha, as if you haven't been doing that to me for the past month, Sunwoo. Where have you been?"

A confused frown sat on Sunwoo's face, "What do you mean ignored you? I haven't been ignoring you-

"Yes, you have! You don't sit with me at lunch or during class and you don't even come to my house anymore...You run away every time you see me. And then today I saw you with that girl-with your girlfriend...I thought I did something wrong," finished Haknyeon, looking down at the ground.

Sunwoo laughed before approaching Haknyeon. He reached out and took Haknyeon's chin in his hand, forcing the older to look up at him.

"Baby, I haven't been avoiding you or running away. Also, I don't have a girlfriend but I will hopefully have a boyfriend by the end of this conversation," said Sunwoo, winking at the other male.

Haknyeon choked a little at the younger male's words, before asking, "Then why have you not been hanging out with me?"

"I've been planning my confession for you. I've liked you for the past three years, actually probably longer than that but we all know I'm a bit slow. Anyways, I was trying to come up with an awesome confession that ended with me giving you a kiss and us probably going on a date the next day, but I didn't know what to give you but then I remembered what you love most: flower crowns. I'm not the best person with my hands and can barely draw a stick figure without forgetting a limb or adding an extra one so I asked Mina to teach me how to make a flower crown. She agreed to teach me as long as I paid her a small fee for it at the end."

"Oh." Haknyeon felt himself turning redder and his cheeks felt warmer and warmer as the younger boy spoke.

"And so, I wanted to give you this." Sunwoo placed a lavender and lily crown on Haknyeon's wet locks before leaning down and giving the older boy a slight peck on the lips.

"...I like you too. I was also planning on confessing to you today with a similar flower crown but I think I lost it back at the school."

"That's okay, love! We can just make another crown and then hundreds of more if your heart so desires. Anything for you, baby," said Sunwoo.

"Stop being so cheesy!," said Haknyeon as he playfully hit Sunwoo on the chest. The younger boy rapidly caught his hand and laced their fingers together.

"Sooo, about that date? Wanna go now?"

"Sunwoo, I'm wet right now, if you haven't noticed."

"There is a lot of things we can do when you're wet-Ow!"

"Pervert."

"Sorry sorry. How about we go to my house and watch a movie?"

"Hm," said Haknyeon. The two held hands all the way home, enjoying the smell of the rain that had thankfully stopped a while back and the peaceful silence that accompanied them.

"By the way, you're wrong."

"What do you mean?"

Haknyeon smiled at Sunwoo before saying, "Flower crowns are not the things I love most. You are."
