"So today class we will finally be learning about who are partners are for the next two months. Then once we learn who are partners are Mrs. Sanders and I will be walking around and handing you and your partner your assignments. Please form in your groups so we can get started." 

I sighed as I stood up from my usual spot in the back. Today has been a really long day. Considering the fact that last night my thoughts kept me up. I couldn't sleep as i knew I wouldn't be able to after the night that I just had. Plus that memory about what I witnessed yesterday decided to haunt me in my sleep. 

( flashback) 

"Okay guys. Here we are. Room 6." I turned around to face both Paige and Andy. 

Paige suddenly turned white and Andy clearly looked annoyed. 

But that annoyed face turned into confusion as we heard mumbles coming from behind the door. 

"No I will not kill her. I told you I can't! I will not kill anyone. We will not kill anyone. How many times do I have to tell you I am done with you?!" A broken voice spoke from behind the door. 

"Um maybe we should come back another time. He seems busy." Paige suggested as she slowly backed away from the door. 

"You ruined my life before. I will not let you ruin it again. I am stronger than you ever will be as I am in control of my own body. For you aren't in control of me you son of a bitch!" 

Silence took over the angered cry. All that was heard was heavily breathing and speeding pulses. Then all of a sudden the sound of crashing broke over the silence. I didn't have to look back to hear that Paige shirked and that Andy backed up. However I stood my ground. I didn't move. The only thing that kept moving was the beating of my heart and an raised eyebrow that kept twitching. 

"Serenity are you crazy?!" Andy whisper yelled. 

I ignored him as I pounded on his door. 

I waited a few minutes before I said something. I waited to see if he would say something first. 

"Who's there and what do you want?" Was asked through the closed door , voice obviously filled with rage. 

I didn't allow the attack of his surprised rage to cause me to turn weak. 

"Um this may sound awkward a little but I am Serenity. I am in your criminal justice class. I am apart of your group and I um , I just wanted to know if you would have dinner with my friends and I tonight? It's just me , Paige Montgomery and Andy Gates. We are going to our favorite local dinner and we just wanted to see if you would tag along with us. It would be nice for your company." I finished with deep breaths. 

I didn't realize talking to him behind a closed door would allow my breathing to become uneven. I licked my lips as I waited for a response. I didn't hear anything. 

"Maybe we should go. This was totally a bad idea." Paige said soft and calmly. 

I sighed as I looked from Paige's eyes to the door in front of me. 

"Your right. This was a bad idea." I shed as I ran a hand through my hair. 

"Let's go guys. Sorry to bother you Justin." I sighed again. I started to walk away but the clicking of a door opening caused me to stop." 

"You know what. Dinner can't hurt us. Give me a few and I will meet you there." 

I turned my heals to see the small of a side profile peaking it's way through the light. Darkness consumed the other part of him that was invisible due to the closed door. A small smile hung low at the side of his lips. Then before I could or notice anything else that smile turned into a frown as he slowly walked back into the darkness. 

(Flash Back over) 

"You okay?" 

I shook my head as I heard Andy's voice break through my mini flashback of last night. 

"Yeah just tired. Didn't sleep well." I shrugged as I started to walk towards my group. 

"Yeah I didn't either. Something happened in the boys dormitory , and no it wasn't Tristan having sex this time. It was something else. I will tell you later. Have fun with your depressing group of crime stoppers." Andy smirked as he nudged me. I just ignored his nudge and walked towards the right corner as where that was the spot that a few members of the group sat. 

Usually the mention of drama would capture my attention. However it didn't affect me as my mind was just too tired to consume any more craziness. After last night I don't think my mind will never be at ease as my feelings will always be alert as they are always searching for something. Well not just a something but more of a someone. Of course they have been searching for him all day but yet they haven't found what they where looking for. I sighed as I looked around to notice that he wasn't around. Again. 

"Hey sexy." 

I huffed a loud huff. The hair that hung on the right side of my face flew up into the air then flew back down. I quickly pulled back my side bangs as I spotted the hot mess that I have just created. 

"Someone looks like they didn't have their beauty rest last night. Oh wait is it because you where to busy hanging out with your new friend Justin?" 

I rolled my eyes as his annoying voice just had to ring through my ears. I sighed again as I heard his dark chuckle rumble through the room. 

"Oh so now I am getting the silent treatment? Okay very mature of you. You know we could clearly be paired up together and have to spend every afternoon with each other for this assignment. Wouldn't that be awkward if you weren't talking to me and we had to work together? He smirked. 

"Please children your giving me a headache." 

I flung my head back again as another annoying voice rung through my ears. Only this time it belonged to a female. It belonged to the none other than Lilly Fichser. 

"Babe I wouldn't even bother with them , and Cody your trying to hard. Your game is weak." 

For once I think in that moment I was very thankful for Tristan. A few chuckles from the other's in our group echoed around each other. 

"My game is weak? Well at least I am not the one walking around having sex with every single girl in school. At least my heart belongs to one girl and one girl only." Cody proudly smiled. 

My eyes nearly popped out of my sockets. Tristan's face turned red. You could nearly see the flare of his anger coming out of his nostrils. Lilly let go of his hand and turned around to face him with her eyes turning as red as the devils. 

"Before a fight breaks out can we all just remember the fact that we are turning into college graduates and not high school graduates please?" 

I peaked through Tristan's pure black quiff to find an angered Mr. Henderson standing behind him. I bit the side of my check to stop myself from laughing as he folded his arms across his chest. 

"I can't believe I have ever allowed you three to make it this far in my class. I should have expelled you all months ago. I know you all aren't here to take this seriously. That's why I have paired you all in a group together. This should be interesting. But I am sorry Mrs. Sanders that you have to deal with these idiots. "Mr. Henderson started before walking away with his head shaking in shame. 

"So I am guessing he's calling us an idiot too then?" I jumped when a voice spoke up from behind me. I turned around to find him shaking his head as he sat down in the empty seat next to me. 

"Jesus Christ you gotta stop doing that. You nearly just gave me a heart attack." I sighed as I re positioned myself. 

"Doing what?" He asked. 

I turned my head to the side a little and when I did I wished I didn't. There was just something off about the look that I was receiving. It wasn't dark but yet it wasn't light. His one eyebrow was raised while his other one wasn't. But there was something different. I don't think it was the way how he wore his hair. His backwards sports hat covered his long bronze hair. He still wore the same sweats that he pretty much wore every day. The same black tee shirt hugged his muscles perfectly. His black nikes remained nice and clean like always. 

But as I watched him shake his head from side to side that's when I realized what was different. A cut was visible underneath his left ear. This time as his eyebrow's became even I raised mine. As I noticed that the scar that was positioned at the bottom of his left ear wasn't there last night when we had dinner together. 

"Where did you get that?" I asked without even thinking. 

A sudden wave of nausea washed over me as his head shot up. His in between eyes went straight to dark. HIs lips started to tremble and I could clearly see his hands starting to shake from underneath the table. 

"I would rather not talk about that." 

"Okay so I could clearly see that most of you in my group don't get along but you know what sucks for you, because you guys are going to have to suck it up and work with each other. In the real world if your stuck on a job with someone you don't like eel then your going to have to deal with it or quit your job. Which I am sure you don't wanna do. Now I will be reading names and once you hear your's you will sit next to your partner." 

I couldn't help but to smile at how much of a bad ass Mrs. Sanders sounded. The authority within her voice was heard throughout the whole lecture hall as the room seemed to become quiet. I always admired Mrs. Sanders. She has been apart of my dads team for awhile now. Whenever she has a case that she couldn't solve alone she would always call him for help and same went with my father. Now she is someone that you could always look up to. 

"So to start things off I am going to add Tristan Bale and Cody Dunn together as a team since you guys seem to hate each other right now. Then next I am going to have Lilly and Jasmine be paired up together ......

A few more names where added. I never thought I was going to hear my name until I realized that I didn't have to hear my name. Everyone was paired up already. Everyone but Justin and I of course. I shot him a glance to find him glaring at Mrs. Sanders. 

Okay so next I am going to be handing you both an assignment that you and your partner will have to complete together by the end of the semester. The good news about this is you will be working with me and my team to complete your assignments. However I am going to need Serenity and Justin to see me as I will be working with them. The rest of you will be meeting your mentor on Monday. So until then go over your assignments that I am now handing out to you. Expect Justin and Serenity. I am going to need to see you guys." 

I waited until Mrs. Sanders was done passing a different yellow folder to each individuals of her groups that she paired up. When I noticed she didn't hand one to me or Justin I figured it would be best to of find her as she did wanted to see us. As I was heading to the front of the room I felt a hot breath breathing down my back. I didn't need to turn around to notice that it was only him following behind me. 

"Hey Mrs. Sanders you said you wanted to see us?" I asked as I held onto the string of my bag that hug at my shoulders. 

"Well hello Serenity and yes but don't worry your not in trouble. Neither are you Justin. It's just the case that I am about to present over to you guys well it isn't just any other case like the other's are getting. I saved this case for you two because I know how much this case means to the both of you." 

I gulped as I watched Mrs. Sanders bring out two big yellow folders. I could feel my throat getting dry as Mrs. Sanders placed the papers into my hands with such delicacy. 

I slowly began to open the file and when I did a tear slowly fell from my eyes. I looked up from Mrs. Sanders then back to the papers that where in my hands. 

"This can't be real." I managed to say through a weakened voice. 

"Oh trust me my love this is real. Not only is your father extremely proud of you but I am too. I know how much this case means to you. Now please the two of you. All I need from you both for the weekend is to study up on this case. Share all the information you know about it with each other. Then on Monday I expect to hear all that you have , because after you learn the rules of the police force and everything like that we will be cracking this case. Together." Mrs. Sanders proudly smiled. Then with that she walked away leaving Justin and I partly alone at the front of the room. 

"Hey Serenity why are you crying?" I looked up from the yellow folder that held my mother's name on it to find Justin still standing there next to me with a concerned look growing on his face. 

"Oh Justin there is a lot you need to learn about me if you plan on working this case with me. You don't know how long and hard I have been searching for answers and the fact that now I could do that without any limits well this means a lot to me." I smiled. 

"I am sorry." Justin sadly smiled.

"Don't be. I have been waiting for this moment to be able to help the FBI and the detectives to finally call this case a case closed , and the fact that I get to share this moment with you. Well I couldn't have asked for a better person to share this special moment with." I smiled as I patted Justin's shoulders. 

But as I patted his shoulders I slowly backed away as I noticed how tensed he got. I quickly shook away this odd shake that he gave me. I watched as he twitched his head from one side to the other. Then with that he left the room leaving me alone with my father and Andy , and a heartbeat that started to race against my pulse.

Hey loves so there you have it another update. I know this was long but there was a lot that needed to be put into it. 

I wanted to show you what happened when they asked Justin to join them for dinner , then I wanted to introduce to you other minor characters that you will be hearing throughout the story. Like Cody and Lilly. They aren't important but they will be mentioned and they might even be victims for later on. 

You also learned a very important piece of information about Serenity and her family. What do you guys think about that , and what do you think happened to her mother ? 

Anyways, 

I was thinking would you guys like a full on character list of all the characters? Like for Cody , Tristan and Lilly ? I was thinking of doing that. 

But btw Andy Gates is rolled out by Dylan Obrien and his character is pretty major as along with Paige they both are her sidekicks. ( Andy's identity is revealed in the gif above )
