Chapter Three: Wednesday

Edward POV:
Edward sat up slowly, looking at his alarm clock in surprise. 5:30 am, why on earth was he awake this bloody early? He blinked a few times, before he heard the annoying buzzing sound that had woken him up so early. He looked down at his nightstand, realizing the buzzing sound was his cell phone ringing. Who could be calling him this early on a school day.

"Hello?" He asked, after answering his phone. He yawned tiredly, wondering why his phone had rang.

"This is Dr. Fredricks, I know it is a school day, but can you come in today?" His resident asked kindly. Edward groaned inwardly, since he knew he couldn't turn his resident down.

"I suppose, missing one day won't kill me." Edward offered, after a brief moment of thinking.

"Thank god, I was about at my wits end with all these idiot new interns." Dr. Fredricks admitted with a dry laugh. Edward rolled his eyes and laughed softly.

"Let me call my teacher and I'll be on my way, about an hour." Edward said, quickly making sure he had all his ducks in a row.

"Great, see you soon." Dr. Fredricks said, before hanging up the phone.

Edward got up quickly and jumped in the shower. He smiled in relief that his back barely hurt. After getting dressed in his scrubs, he called and left a message on his art teacher's office number.

He quickly grabbed his stuff and rushed out the door, showing up at the hospital fifteen minutes early. He quickly started helping patients, not really noticing the time until it was well after one pm.

"Edward, there is an emergency case coming in from your school. Can you take point?" Dr. Fredricks asked from across the now busy emergency room.

Edward looked up, nodded to his resident, and ran outside to greet the ambulance. As the paramedics unloaded the patient, he noticed the sloped brown hair that made him realize he had missed out on seeing Jasper. He sighed inwardly and shrugged, knowing he needed to get to work again.

He looked down at his patient in the bed, and his mouth dropped open. It couldn't be... Could it?

"Jasper Hale, do you know where you are?" Dr. Fredricks asked the patient firmly, trying to get Jasper's vitals.

Jasper's POV:
Jasper walked towards the college slowly, not really feeling up for modeling today. He sighed, at least he was going to see Edward Cullin today. He smiled briefly, looking forward to watching this messy haired boy focus so hard on drawing him.

He walked into the classroom, sighing sadly when he saw that Edward wasn't even there. He knew he should have cancelled modeling today. Now that he didn't have anything to look forward to, he could openly admit he didn't feel the best.

He slipped the robe off like before, shivering even though the room was warm. He took a couple deep, calming breaths trying to relax his body. Try as he might, he couldn't stop shivering.

"Jasper? Are you alright? You're really pale and appear to be shaking." The professor said, walking over quickly when he saw how sick the boy looked.

"Yes sir. I think I ate something bad last night, I... Excuse me..." Jasper said hurriedly, clamping a hand over his mouth as he ran from the room. He ran down the hall in just his tight skin colored boxers, looking around frantically for a bathroom.

When he couldn't find one, he ran outside barely making it out the door before doubling over. He gagged harshly, bringing up the majority of what was in his stomach. He groaned softly, before straightening and walking back inside slowly.

"Sorry professor." He offered, as he made his way back to his podium. He wasn't going to ruin the professor's class by not still working like he was supposed to.

"Jasper, if you are ill, please go home. Rest and we can see you on Monday." The professor offered in concern. He was worried for the young model who was still too pale and shivering.

"It's okay, I'm fine." Jasper's said in a weaker voice than he had planned. He knew he should've called out, since he was up most of the night sick, but he needed the practice and money.

He took a few deep breaths, doubling over briefly as a sharp pain shot through his stomach. Crap, last time this happened he ended up with a tear in his stomach and needing surgery. How he hated his crohns disease.

The professor raised an eyebrow in Jasper's direction but stayed quiet. He knew something was very wrong with the boy, but knew better than to argue with him. He went back to walking around the room, offering tips to the other students.

Jasper straightened and took a few deep breaths, trying to remind himself that he was okay. Food poisoning wasn't deadly, just dangerous if not treated properly. But he was fine, nothing too bad or anything. He tried to relax his body, but the longer he stayed in one position, the more sick he felt.

He looked up at the clock, shocked and dismayed that only a half an hour had gone by. There was no way he'd make it through this class period, no way in hell. Upon realizing this, his body decided to prove it a reality forcing him to double over with a hard gag.

"Jasper?" The professor asked, grabbing a trash can and putting it on the ground in front of the young model.

Jasper nodded gratefully, gagging again and bringing up pure bright red. Crap, blood already. He had no time to react, as more blood joined it leaving him dizzy and disoriented. He blinked once, twice, and collapsed unconscious with blood dripping from his lips.

The professor immediately dialed 911, and watched as Jasper was carted away by the paramedics moments later.

He remained unconscious and barely responsive the whole ride to the hospital, but his heart rate remained strong. He started to come to, hearing his name and noticing a blinding light.

"Ow..." He whimpered softly.

Alice's POV:
She had just walked into the hospital, super excited to start her shift. She loved being there and learning, but she loved helping people even more.

"Eddie? Hey, why are you here?" She asked, walking up to him in the ER.

"Hey Alice, I got called in at 5 this morning." Edward said with a worried expression.

"What's wrong?" She asked in concern, pushing past him to look at the person in the bed. "Jazzy?!" She gasped.

Edward blinked quickly, realizing this was her brother. "He collapsed at the college, after puking blood." He explained. As if on cue, Jasper leaned over the edge of the bed bringing up more blood.

"Dr. Fredricks, he has Crohns and the blood means he perforated his stomach again." Alice shrieked louder than she meant to.

Dr Fredricks' eyes widened, and nodded quickly. "We need to get him to an OR immediately. Edward, can you scrub in?" He asked quickly. Edward nodded quickly, leaning down beside Jasper briefly.

"We'll take good care of you, Jasper." Edward whispered, before helping wheel him away.
