Chapter Twenty Three: I promise

I walked onto the rooftop to see Chiasa sitting on the roof with as I grinned surprising her by tossing a Panta bottle.

She immediately grinned as she opened the bottle and I sat down next to her 'how did you know I was up here?' She signed and I shrugged 'a surpreme leader has his ways' I replied.

'You've been skipping a lot lately, what's up?' I asked and she sighed 'my aunt isn't getting better I feel bad for my uncle and cousin' she signed and I looked down.

'Sorry can't help you there the only person I know who's died is my Dad and I don't even remember him that well' I signed. She kicked her feet against the school walls 'soon we are going to be in high school and later college' she signed and I nodded.

'Yeah that's pretty weird huh' I signed remembering me and the others talking about this just yesteday.

'It just made me realize all that's changed since we met in elementary' she signed. She was avoiding my eyes I could tell...something's bugging her.

'What's wrong?' I asked and they shook their head 'it's nothing' she responded 'just thinking of how me and Akamatsu used to be in those piano competitions' she reminisced.

That's right...she dropped out when she went totally deaf because she said she wanted to find something else just as meaningful.

'Did you ever find something to replace music?' I asked and she nodded 'yeah, hanging out with you guys' she responded and I heard her laugh.

'I remember back in those days I was a goody two shoes, that quickly ended the day I met you' she signed.

'And when I quit piano you guy's were there and I remember how much I loved pulling those pranks and the thrill of exploring the city and racing from rooftop to rooftop' she signed before laying down on the roof.

'I felt free' she signed before reaching up at the sky 'like absolutely nothing could replace the feeling of knowing that I was doing something greater than myself' she signed.

I stared at her in awe of her remincing. It meant that much to her? And just a few short months ago I tried to take that all away...I tried to ruin the thing she loved...

'Hey Kichi' she signed 'what are you going to do once we eventually graduate from high school?' She asked and I looked over the horizon pondering.

'I don't know' I finally signed 'I never really thought about it till now' I admitted and she shrugged.

'I had an idea but it's silly' she signed and I turned to her 'tell me' and she shook her head 'no it's to embarrassing!' And I grinned.

Time to use my ultimate weapon!

I began tickling her as she laughed trying to push me off but I kept going. I won't stop till she freaking tells me!

She then raised her arms in surrender and I grinned 'confess to your sins' I told her and she laughed before looking around embarrassed 'I was thinking' she paused taking a deep breath 'if no one else had an idea that we could start a joke shop or be party entertainers' she quickly signed and covered her face in embarrassment.

I paused and she peeked out to meet my eyes she sighed and lowered her hands to sign her face was red from embarrassment 'see you think it's funny' I shook my head 'no I actually like the idea' I signed and her eyes widened.

'I mean if my objective of taking over the world fails this is defiantly a nice dream' I signed and she smiled.

'Thanks Kich' and I grinned as well. That settles it, I want to remain as part of DICE forever.

Is that selfish? Probably, but now that we aren't doing anything really dangerous it's actually been more fun not having to worry if we are going to get hurt. Even then it was still fun...if you avoided the danger...

'Chi' I signed and she turned to face me 'what is it Kichi?' She asked and I grinned 'let's do it, your dream and then we can stay friends forever' her eyes widened in shock before smiling and nodded 'I promise, after all its thanks to you I have a dream again!'
