"Momota remind me why we are wandering around the rundown and abandoned part of town?" Maki Roll asked.

"I told you a thousand times Maki Roll! And call me Kaito were friends, Ouma and his friends call each other by their first names! But speaking of them I'm telling you a man in black put them in his van and drove them away!" I recounted once again.

Harukawa looked expressionless "and what happens if you don't find them, Momota- Kaito. They could be dead" she noted sympathetically.

I shook my head "no this is Ouma and their group I'm sure they'll think of something! They just might need some help to get out of this pickle-"

*SCREAM*

Me and Maki shot looks before running towards the source of the noise and I fought to make sure she didn't notice my agility was getting worse.

"I think it came from there" Maki pointed to the large warehouse in front of us and I nodded.

We had been searching for the past ten minutes and that scream was the only thing that pointed us in that direction...

Problem is it stopped after just one time.

"We need to check it out Maki" I told her and she nodded and began to climb up from the others buildings ladder and looked from a broken part of the roof before her eyes went as wide as saucers.

I looked at her confused and began climbing up myself, why is she so shocked what could possibly be-

When I got up there I covered my mouth in order to surpress the urge to scream.

The bodies of Ouma's friends were strung up to a wall like dolls or trophies to be admired. They were drenched in blood and all the eyes stared wide open...a few limbs had been cut off and blood was splattered everywhere. Not a single part was unaltered.

Ouma was chained to a wall as the hooded man loomed over him as if prey and I could see countless liquids covering the ground.

"Maki we need to call the cops- NOW" I told her and she nodded bringing out her phone and dialing for emergency services.

I stared at the blood soaked Ouma...he must have been the one who screamed...please God...please Atua...don't let him die.

A few minutes later sirens could be heard in the distance and the man turned to them and to notice us before making a run of it.

"MAKI WE NEED TO STOP HIM!" I told her but she was one step ahead racing down the ladder and running after the culprit as the cops called me to come down.

I need to go with Maki she's in danger!

The police grabbed me to make sure I didn't run away and set me in the car "where's the women who called us?" One officer asked.

"She went after the culprit- my name is Kaito Momota me and my friend Maki Harukawa she was the one who called was searching for our friends who were kidnapped during the fire" I told the officer.

They nodded and then their eyes widened "how many hostages?" They asked "eleven, but the culprit ran away! So can't you go get them! Please their dying in there!" I pleaded and they nodded.

"Get the paramedics in there! We have eleven wounded hostages!" The officer called and they busted the warehouse door opened.

The smell of copper filled the air as the cops looked at the site unfazed as if they experienced this before and paramedics ran in.

I looked over as I realized they weren't bringing stretchers...but body bags...I was to late...they...they all died.

I cursed myself for not calling sooner when a loud cry rang out "HE'S ALIVE! WE NEED A HELICOPTER STAT! THE BOY IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION" a paramedic called out and my eyes widened as I looked over at Ouma who they were swarming around.

He's alive...he's alive...thank you Atua...

Maki returned five minutes later empty handed with some officers as escorts. She looked down disappointed.

"They were so fast...I couldn't even see their face" Maki told me "they aren't rookies they've done this before...the fire as a distraction... choosing this place...knowing an escape route...the only thing they didn't prepare for was us" she told me.

"So...how are they?" She asked concerned and I sighed "everyone but Ouma is dead" I told her and she gripped her hands tightly.

"I had a feeling...are they bringing a helicopter?" She asked as I saw one hovering above us "yes, I know he's going to survive this" I told her confidently.

"How? He's probably going to die you know it" she told me as the helicopter carrying Ouma flew away.

I just stared ahead at it and nodded "I just know he won't give up so easily- this is Ouma we are talking about!" I told her "he is a stubborn as heck I know he isn't going to let this kill him" she looked down.

"Well...hope your right...for his sake"

I sat in the hospital- waiting for any news I could get as Sensei ran in- I had noticed all the parents were in their concerned or not waiting for news on their children.

I know...I wish I could have found them sooner. I wish....I had saved them.

"Ah I see your all here" a doctor called and made a motion for all to follow as  we followed him to a special care unit where I could see Ouma on the other side getting treated...he looked like sh*t.

"I come before you all with some regretful news" the doctor told them sympathetically, "I am sorry to tell you all this but the only survivor as of yet is Kokichi Ouma"

The parents just stared.
Then crying abrupted as I looked over at the tear stricken parents sobbing over their child and crying out their names, other's just sat in shock and Ouma's mother was just frozen tears running down her face as she seemed to be praying.

Sensei's reaction broke the trend.

"Not my child! HE SHOULD HAVE DIED INSTEAD!" She screamed pointing over at where Ouma was being treated.

"Ma'am calm down the patient could potentially hear you" the doctor told her sternly tears were all over my face and my sarcastic teacher now had a face of grief and rage I had never seen before.

"HE KILLED MY ONLY CHILD! I TOLD HER THAT GROUP WAS NOTHING BUT TROUBLE! I TOLD HER THAT SHE WAS GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE! BUT THAT BOY FORCED HER THROUGH IT!" She screamed.

"NOW MY LITTLE BABY GIRL IS DEAD! ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF HER SON!" She screamed pointing at Ouma's mother who stared in shock.

"Ma'am that's it I'm calling security you need to leave" the doctor told her.

"Jin..." one of the mothers with long purple hair- Otome's mom?- started "it's all our faults for not watching over our children...that's why they set the school on fire...that's why they planned a group suicide"

Huh? No that's not what happened what are they talking about-

The doctor shot me a look to keep quiet and I did confused as the parents left the room.

"You lied to them, there was no group suicide they were murdered" I told him narrowing my eyes. The doctor nodded "I know" he said calmly.

"However...some people in this town would like to keep this...hushed up" they stated as if it was simple.

"And if you do try to talk about what happened..." they started "well...let me just say they know who are close to you Kaito Momota, just like they know who are close to me" he said calmly.

Blackmail...if we don't comply...they are going to hurt maybe kill the ones we love...

"So if I were you I would bide my time till someone can release us and show the real truth" he said sympathetically.
