Chapter Sixteen: I don't care anymore
"Kokichi! School starts in five minutes! Or do you not want to go today....?" My Mother said poking her head in my room. Memories of what happened to Genkei kept replaying over and over in my head as I kept trying to understand why it happened.
If it wasn't for the mask he would have lost an eye...but according to his doctor his face is permantly scarred. That was my doing, wasn't it? I just know it has something to do with DICE.
I just hope it won't be worse next time...if there is one...I need to figure out who hurt him.
"Kokichi?" My Mother asked again and she sighed turning off the light. I could sense her hovering over me, unsure of something before sighing and leaving the room.
What did I really expect though, after all we've been through I am surprised we can still live under one roof.
*BZZZ*
I heard my phone buzzing and I opened it to see the group chat exploding with messages.
CHIASA: I hope Genkei wakes up today
EIJI: He will, he has to otherwise how can we kill him for making us worried like that
NAO: Lol
KAZUE: His injuries weren't that bad, I mean he probably is going to have a scar, but it didn't cut to teeth. We are going to have to fix that mask though.
MIRAI: Yeah true, I have tape and paint maybe you guys can come over when he gets discharged
TAKURA: Hey guys...
TSUKI: Hey Tak how's it going?
TAKURA: Ok I guess, why are you asking?
RIKO: Cause you were probably awake all night
TAKURA: Yeah of course I was, I was worried sick about Genkei.
TAKASHIRO: Just admit your gay already
TAKURA: This is not the time for that Takashiro! And I'm not gay.
TAKASHIRO: Keep telling yourself that.
TAKURA: Ugh you and your shipping
MIRAI: Aww I find it cute ♡
TAKURA: Great now you gained followers this is EXACTLY what I needed -.-
CHIASA: We can visit him today after school
TSUKI:Wait your actually going?
CHIASA: I have to, my Dad took me since my Mom is paranoid after she learned about last night on the phone. She really is paranoid about last night, she thinks I'm going to be a criminal. Well, I guess she's not wrong but...
KOKICHI: Let's face it she was always like that, all because we nearly kill each othet every other week.
NAO: This was terrifying though, imagine if he had died
KAZUE: And? I thought we all knew we were risking out safety when we started doing these things
TSUKI: Yeah, but still. We still don't know who attacked Genkei, that's scary and we had to lie to the police about what happened so they are no help.
MIRAI: Well we couldn't tell them what we did last night otherwise they would have arrested us.
EIJI: Yeah Mirai's right, we shouldn't talk about this on group chat though, let's meet up at the back of the diner
KOKICHI: Good idea, let's meet up at 12 or something. Chi you gotta ditch.
CHIASA: Ok, good thing Harukawa isn't back yet! Or she would kill us! See you guys later!
I shut off my phone and put it to the side and glanced at my alarm clock for the time. 8:10...so four hours...what should I do...?
*BZZ*
What? Who could that be? Are they spamming the group chat?
I turned on my phone to see a call from an unknown number, strange...
"Hello?" I said picking it up. On the other end I could hear rustling "ThIS Is YoUr OnE WArnIng" the cracky voice announced, clearly a voice modifer was in use.
"Huh?" I asked confused but the number hung up and I looked at it confused. One warning? What could that mean...? It must be related to last night. Chances though...honestly I don't think I know anyone who has any idea on who we are and that we are behind the pranks and crimes in this town. I swear they are dense.
I decided to get up and get dressed before heading down, Mom is probably at work...hope she gets home before two in the morning this time. I really don't want to have to get babysit by Aunt Haruki, especially if she brings Kiibo.
*A/N: In this fanfiction Kiibo and Ouma are cousins*
Maybe I should head around town, visit Genkei for a bit? I raised my hoodie and put on my headphones drowning out the world around me.

'
Why did you get me headphones?' I asked while signing. Chiasa and she smiled and signed 'they used to be mine but I want you to have them' I raised an eyebrow and asked 'why? I thought these were from your Dad' she sighed 'yeah they are, he gave them before he left to go help run a detective agency with my Uncle. I miss him' she signed and I could tell she was sad remembering.
'But I want you to have them! I can't hear the music it plays anymore I can't really hear anything anymore but you told me you liked music so I thought you would like them' she signed. I shrugged.
'Ok if you think so' I then put them on and turned them up. Since then I barely ever put them down.

I could feel people's stares or ridicule and humor of my baggy clothing, not that I could help that. All my clothing was from my Father when he was a teenager, and let me just say I didn't get my height from him.
Honestly though they would have pointed and laughed at me no matter what I wore or looked like, just because unlike them my Mother has to work her a** off.
A bit of guilt filled me at how hard she worked and I just gave her nothing in return for that effort, but shook my head. No, I don't owe her anything. Not after all she did when I was younger...even if she has changed...I....want to make sure she doesn't ever turn back to how she used to be.
I reached the hospital and passed by Momota's room and opened the door uninvited.
"Ouma?" Momota asked confused and I nodded "the one and only" I grinned and Momota sighed as if asking, why me?
"Why did you come?" He asked, yeah why did I come? "To check on you, besides bet it's boring here. If your lucky I might not prank you for five minutes when you get back to school" I lied. Yeah just because your sick don't expect me to stop, besides research shows that people feel better most of the time after a fun prank.
"How's Genkei, I never heard what happened to him in the end" I sighed "he's alive, got lucky I guess but he is going to have a scar over his eye I hear" I shrugged.
"Heh he always wanted to look like a tough guy so mission accomplished" I shrugged and Momota laughed.
"He did, didn't he? I still remembet fourth grade and how he went nuts whenever we watched an action movie" I laughed at the memorie of Genkei walking into class one day in a leather jacket and glasses to try and act tough on movie day.
"Those were some good times" I nodded, "well talking to you wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, turns out your not as annoying as I thought" Momota proclaimed optimistically.
"And you didn't act like an idiot, congrats" I shot at him and he groaned and I laughed leaving and started to leave the room.
"You know I bet people would like you more if you stopped being so distant" Momota commented which made me stop. Would they? They never liked me even in the beginning, so why should I care?
I turned to face Momota "honestly, I tried becoming friends with you guys but clearly it wasn't going to happen. And as to what they think of me now...I don't care anymore"
