The Challenging Hour

When I walked into math class on time, completely dry thanks to Tucker's umbrella, I stared Ms. Daniels right in her ugly pale green eyes and smiled to myself.

I sat down in the middle row, next to a pretty girl, and winked at her. She blushed and ignored me, I chuckled to myself.

Hey, it was my last day on earth, I might as well have some fun.

A few minutes later Ms. Daniels started her short lecture, and another kid came in late.

Ms. Daniels scolded him for not showing up with a tardy slip, and I noticed the bruise on his back. It probably came from home. He fixed his shirt and hid it again.

It was the same kid who would beat me up in social studies in an hour.

When Ms. Daniels passed out the test, I took a few minutes to check what exactly I was dealing with. Then I felt kind of embarrassed. Sure some of these were pretty hard, but most of it was stuff I already knew. I know that it won't matter, but I tried my best on that test. I think I did a pretty good job.

It's amazing how a different mindset can change your whole perception of the problem.
