The Betrayed Hour

I saw Tucker during lunch.

He was cool African-American with attitude and a girlfriend. I had never talked to any girl in my life besides my mother.

He glared angrily at me as I sat down with my half-eaten lunch, starving and miserable.

"What did I screw up this time?" I asked in spite.

"I thought I told you I was moving." Was all he said.

I felt a cold dagger stab into my heart. He had told me that, months ago.

"Yeah, so what?" I replied, instantly regretting how fed up I sounded.

"Today's my last day in the state, I'm leaving early from school. I only came today because I wanted to check up on you Gabe."

I clench my fists as an overwhelming fear of being alone pounded through every single vein in my body. I could feel cold, clamy sweat pour down my face.

"I guess this is goodbye." I said, hating myself.

"I'm gonna miss you bro."

He didn't see me cry.
