"So you want to tell us what the fuck was that?" Mikaela hissed, both her hands resting on her hips and face clearly irritated.

It had been a few minutes since Zack forcefully dragged Aahan out of her house and now Rylee was being scrutinized by her friends and family in the living room. She shifted uncomfortably on her feet, pressing her lips together and looking down at the floor.

"My God, Rylee!" her mother exclaimed. "Has he been sleeping here? Dear Lord, are you even using protection?"

Rylee recoiled back at her mother's overreaction. The look of horror and dismay was evident on her face. "What! No!!! Of course not."

"You are not using protection?" Her mother shrilled out.

Rylee smacked her eyes and sighed. She was losing the grip on patience now. "It's not like that, it was just a hug. He's just a friend. Jeez, what's the big deal? I hug boys, it's nothing. I hug Krish and Sven!"

"Um, the big deal is that it's Aahan." Mikaela replied.

"And can't I hug him?"

Mikaela stared at her best friend with a worried look. "Do you like like him?"

Rylee choked on the air, coughing and wheezing. She waved her hand around and shook her head. After coughing a little more, she reacted. "No, are you crazy? He's – he's just a friend. He's interesting, that's all."

Krish smirked, humor in his gaze. "Oh my God! The hot girl of the school likes the loser of the school, somebody write a book!"

Rylee glared at him, hands clenching into fists. "Shut up, I do not like him as a boyfriend and he is not a loser."

Krish's smirk widened. "Are you defending him like you would a boyfriend?"

"Do you want to die?" Rylee hissed, taking a step closer to Krish who instantly stumbled back, shaking his head.

Her mother was on a whole different level. "Rylee are you using protection? I cannot have another kid in this house, please."

An immediate blush cover Rylee's cheeks. "Mom! That was one hug – one. The first real one. Please, we are not sleeping together. We are not intimate in any way. And another hug will never happen again. So just close this topic!"

They slowly nodded and her mother breathed out. "I cannot believe my daughter is harboring boyfriends under my roof. Maybe she has a few hiding in the closet and under her bed." With that she stormed out.

Granny chuckled and patted her granddaughter. Today had been an amusing day and she loved it. She must remember to thank Krish for inviting those two boys. "Don't mind your mother. One day I'll tell you the story about how she helped her boyfriend escape her room in the middle of the night and how he fell and broke his hip."

Rylee's eyes widened in amazement, not quite believing that her now stickler mother was once a wild teenager. "Really, Gran?"

Gran nodded with a grin. "Yes, it was hilarious. She also pranked her teachers – they still remember her as the girl who made the school turn pink."

Rylee chuckled, so entertained. She had to know these stories. That's the only way she could win an argument against her mother. "Mom was a wild one! Tell me more!"

Granny winked at her. "Later. Dan takes after your father, you are mix of both parents and Daisy takes after your mother. So, I suggest you keep an eye on Daisy before she blows up the neighbor's car."

Krish whistled as Granny disappeared into the kitchen, behind her daughter. "Well, your family is fun."

Rylee sighed, feeling an incoming headache. "Yes, now get out."

"What? Why?" Krish whined. "I didn't even get to eat cakes."

Rylee rolled her eyes, scowling at him. "I'll send them with Nina tomorrow."

Krish snorted. "Oh please, you know this fatso will eat it all."

Nina shrugged. "I really would. I hate giving anything to this dumbo."

"Hey, I am your brother."

"I am elder than you."

"Not by brains!"

"Definitely by brains!"

"Okay, that's enough." Rylee had seen them fight before and they could easily do it for hours. Nina was usually shy and quiet, except when it came to fighting with her brother. She could turn into the Hulk then – yell and smash everything in sight. Rylee pushed them towards the door. "Get out!"

"Wow." Krish gasped. "You know what I'm going to give you for your birthday? A book on 'how to be a good host.'"

"And you know what I'll give you as a return gift? A book on 'how to stop annoying people.'"

Krish scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Please that's a rare talent. You can't tell the rainbow to erase one of its colors now, can you?"

Rylee glared at Krish, jaw clenched and teeth grinding against each other. "Krish. Get. Out."

Krish sighed, knowing that he had reached the end of Rylee's patience bar. "Fine, but I am not liking or commenting on your posts anymore." He pointed at Nina and Mikaela. "Let's go, we are unwanted here."

Rylee sighed. "Such a drama queen."

Nina sighed too. "You should see him at home, it's like the entire cast of Gossip Girl in one body."

Mikaela chuckled. "Hey, at least you two have siblings."

Rylee shrugged. "Your parents probably saw you and thought one of you is enough."

Mikaela was not tickled. "Haha. Funny."

Nina winked. "It is."

"Well, whatever." Mikaela rolled her eyes. "You better sort out your feelings for Aahan. It's clear that you like him. I don't know to what extent but it seems serious. Before going any further, know your own feelings." She advised to Rylee.

Rylee nodded. "Yeah yeah."

Mikaela hugged Rylee and waved a quick goodbye. "See you in school."

Nina whispered to Rylee. "Ask him out Rylee, I know you want to."

Rylee smiled but didn't reply.

As her friends disappeared out the door, she leaned on the wall and breathed out heavily. "Well, that was a fun day."

Zack did not think it was fun. He was screaming at Aahan right in the middle of his parking lot. "What the hell were you thinking? A hug? Have you ever done it? Do you even understand why you do it?"

Aahan stared down at his shoes, Zack had been screaming for the past ten minutes and he hadn't spoken a word. He didn't even know what to say. He had no answers.

"I mean, what? Seriously?" Zack took a deep breath to calm himself down, it did not work. "Aahan! What the hell were you thinking?"

Aahan blinked and finally replied. "I wasn't."

Zack scoffed. "So that was an impulsive action?"

Aahan nodded.

Zack was stumped, his lips parted and his blinked a few times. "And since when did you start getting those?"

"Since I met Rylee."

Zack glared at Aahan, hissing in annoyance. "She's a witch."

Aahan had thought of it too in the starting days but now he didn't believe it. "I think I have feelings."

"You don't feel!"

"I am starting to."

Zack stared at the guy he had known for the past 8 years. He was the least impulsive guy ever, he never understood sentiments, he didn't care for people emotionally, he was a complete introvert and he didn't make friends easily. It had taken Zack over 6 months to just see Aahan's dimple.

And now here he was, smiling, feeling, making friends, hugging a girl, being impulsive all in two months. It was absurd!

Zack finally asked a question he didn't want to know the answer to. "Do you really like Rylee?"

Aahan blinked and stared at Zack. "How do you know if you like a person?"

Zack sighed. "Do you find yourself staring at her when she isn't looking?"

"Yes."

"Do you feel like spending more time with her even if you two just sit in silence?"

"You mean just sit next to each other quietly?"

Zack nodded.

"Yes."

Zack was not liking where this was going. "Do you get jealous?"

Aahan blinked. "Like when she's with Harvey?"

"Yes."

"Well, I want to run my bike over him and also that boy in biology class who stares at her throughout the class."

Zack blinked, not quite believing that Aahan could feel such strong emotions. He always had trouble linking the physical response to the sentiments. Zack sighed and smiled sadly. "Well, my friend, then you like Rylee Brooks."

Aahan felt a sudden epiphany wash over him, he leaned on his bike. "I like Rylee Brooks." He whispered into the thick humid air.

He wasn't sure how to take this news, be happy that Aahan is finally feeling and identifying emotions or get angry that he'd change now. Zack rolled his eyes. "Apparently."

Aahan didn't register the mocking tone. He breathed out. "I like Rylee Brooks." He smiled, his left dimple showing. "I like Rylee Brooks."

"Okay now stop talking like a broken cassette." Zack groaned.

Aahan suddenly felt confused. "Do-do I tell her? Do I not? Do I do something special like a write on a banner or the sky or scream from a building or -" he trailed off and blinked innocently. "What's trending now? Posting on Instagram?"

Zack wrinkled his nose in disgust at the sudden nauseating romantic side of Aahan he was seeing for the first time. Not once did he think he'd see this side of Aahan – so confused and so cheesy. "Eww. Just eww. Stop. First ask her out on a normal date, a normal one. Nothing too crazy and please don't take tips from those romcoms you see, they only work in the movies."

Aahan licked his lips. "So I should ask her out?"

"Yes."

"When?"

Zack groaned, he preferred when Aahan couldn't feel. "Well, how about tomorrow?"

Aahan chuckled, more like gasp-choked. "Tomorrow?"

"Don't get nervous dude. Seriously, it's just a date and she isn't even that special. Go to some restaurant, eat and talk. Get to know each other." Zack replied, starting to feel a little annoyed.

Aahan didn't pick up on his tone. "Okay, a restaurant. Which one?"

Zack fisted his hands. Did he have to plan out every little detail for him now? "Ask her out first, at least wait for her to say yes before you start planning the whole evening."

Aahan nodded. "Yes, you are right. I'll ask her now." He lightly touched his nose where the pimple resided. "Do I still look good?"

Zack stared at the guy who never – not once – cared about his looks. His lips twisted into a scowl. "Yeah, now get out of my sight."

Once again Aahan missed the frustration laced in Zack's voice. "Okay." And Aahan walked away.

Zack stared at Aahan's receding back and sighed. "Well, you finally started to have feelings, now you'll know how much they suck."

Aahan fell on his bed and took out his phone, typing a message.

'Hey Rylee, let's go out on a date tomorrow.'

He backspaced. Should he add a question mark?

'Hey Rylee, date tomorrow?'

What if she said no? She didn't hug him back today and google said that's not a good sign.

Groaning he finally typed. 'Hey Rylee, goodnight.'

Rylee stared at the message and smile softly. Good night indeed. She typed back a reply. 'Hey Aahan, goodnight, sweet dreams.'

His response, made her roll and fall off the bed. 'Congratulations! You have won yourself a date with me!'

She stared at the text, reading it over and over again. With wobbly fingers and an astounded heart, she typed. 'Excuse me?'

His reply was in seconds. 'Oh Google, said it was a cute pick-up line. Wait.'

Rylee waited, a hand over her racing heart. Her eyes were glued to the screen, barely blinking, afraid she'd did the message the second it came.

'If you are not doing anything tomorrow, you can do me.'

Rylee choked on her own breath, luckily she couldn't fall down more. Did he even understand the innuendo of that sentence? Her heart was racing even faster now. her stomach was in knots and her cheeks were turning pink. 'Do what? Do you?'

'Um, let me try again.'

Before he could type some other Google suggested line, Rylee sent a message. 'Do you want to go out on a date with me tomorrow?'

It took Aahan minutes to reply and Rylee sat on the floor, looking intently at her phone, barely blinking. "Why the hell are you not replying, you dork! You were the one who started this." She screamed at the display picture of Aahan.

Finally she got a reply. 'Yes. I would like that. But just so you know – that sentence was my fourth choice.'

Rylee chuckled softly, a grin developing on her face. Her lips strained right till the ears and she could barely contain her excitement. 'Okay, so tomorrow.'

'Yes. I'll text the timing?'

'Sure.'

'Okay then. Good night again.'

Rylee replied a quick good night and then threw her phone on the bed. She grabbed Bob the minion and snuggled into him. "I have a date tomorrow. A date, Bob, a date!" She screamed into the soft toy, feeling ecstatic. She pressed her hand to her face, unable to stop from grinning.

She leaned back, the cold floor conflicting her warm body. "I am going on a date with Aahan Miller." She whispered into the dark yet vibrant air.

Aahan was lying on his bed, staring at his plain white ceiling. He smiled, his left dimple very prominent. "I am going on a date with Rylee Brooks." He whispered into the lavender perfumed air.

~~~
Wohoo! They are finally going out on a date!
Yay!!!!!!!!!
