POV SWITCH: BARRY ALLEN
"Barry, I think you need to head out to Landry Street, do you know where that is?" I heard Cisco question from the comm in my ear.
"Yeah, that's almost outside of town isn't it? What's going on?" I asked, rubbing my hands together.
"A neighbor just said she saw a 'huge wolf monster' run out of Doctor Martin Renfield's house," Caitlin answered.
"Is that name supposed to mean something to me?" I asked.
"Well no, but it does to us. I fired him a month or two before the explosion. He's basically a mad scientist," Wells informed me.
Great, I started that way. I hoped the neighbor was exaggerating when she said 'wolf monster'.
.
.
.
"Oh my god..." I said to myself. I didn't need the others to give me the address.
The front door had been thrown off of its hinges and was laying in the yard.
There were huge gouges that tore through the grass and well into the dirt that disappeared into the surrounding forested area.
"Barry talk to us," Wells said into my ear.
"I think 'wolf monster' might be an understatement," I informed them as I made my way into the house.
The basement door was also broken, hanging by a screw.
"Doctor Renfield! Are you okay?" I called out, slowly making my way down the stairs.
"Oh god," I muttered to myself, I couldn't hold back the look of disgust.
There was a man's body laying on the floor of the basement floor, there was no head attached or nearby.
"Barry," Wells said again in my ear.
"Renfield's dead, he definitely kept something big down here," I informed them, eying the cage and heavy chains in the corner of the room.
"Look for a.. a journal or something, Renfield always kept notes. It might help figure out what you're dealing with," Caitlin advised.
There was a blood-spattered composition notebook on a metal table.
"'She finally stopped growing, her final height is 7'2 with a weight of 250.3lbs,'" I read allowed.
"Jesus Christ," I heard Cisco whisper.
I flipped back a few more pages, "'She looks less and less like a dog every day and more like a werewolf. She no longer stands on four legs, but two. Her front legs have grown longer and her phalanges grow more human-like each day. Method of containment will have to be altered,'". I read aloud.
I spared a glance at the broken chains inside the cage in the corner, "A lot of good that 'method of containment' did,".
"It sounds like he just went and made a whole werewolf minus the human transformation," Cisco said, his tone distant.
"Yeah, one that eats people," I informed him, before adding, "Doctor Renfield no longer has a head, and I can't find it,".
I heard someone make a gagging noise.
"Knowing Renfield, he probably deserved it. He wasn't above animal testing, and I fired him for animal testing a cure-all serum," Wells informed.
"What was the problem with that?" Cisco questioned.
"The animals didn't go to him needing any 'curing' or 'healing'. I fired him for beating a dog with a mop handle," there was silence.
"Either way Barry, you need to find that thing and either take it out or bring it in. Something that big and violent can't be out there," Wells informed.
I started back up the stairs, "I don't think she'll be too difficult for me to track. She left a pretty... obvious trail," I announced.
"Make sure you hurry Barry, I'm sending Cisco with a truck now to bring her back," Caitlin said.
"I will," I promised before taking off.
