TAM'S POV
Don't ask me how I got out of that wretched place.
I stretched in the light breeze, and looked around.
Where to next?
It hit me like a heavy weight.
Sophie's.
But could I brave it to face her again?
After everything I'd done to her.
Would she ever want to see me again?
I closed my eyes, picturing it.
" Sophie! Hi!" I would say.
She would glare at me, and then slam the door in my face.
My eyes flew open.
Nope.
So where could I go that I wouldn't get slammed in the face by a door?
Home?
I shook my head. Too dangerous.
It was settled then. I wouldn't go anywhere. I was standing in the middle of the lost cities. Close to Foxfire, actually.
I missed that place. Did I dare go back in for a quick peek?
Plus......I looked down at my body that wasn't their. Or, it was there, but only faintly. So I guess I was a ghost, what Sophie had told us about people that die and sometimes come back to haunt people. Shivers were sent down my spine as I thought about it.
I walked to the doors and placed at misted hand on the handle. One deep breath it took, and a lot of courage to open the door and shut it quietly.
I surveyed the walls. They looked.......painted. It used to be an old brown, but now it was cheerful blue. Yippy I-O. I guess Magnete Leto did some good being principal.
Suddenly the bells rang and students came running out of class.
Crap, I thought.
Go to Sophie's, my mind whispered. I sighed, and did my best to hide from the students.
Fine, I told my subconscience mind. You happy now?
SOPHIE'S POV
Edaline and Grady were out for the day, attending a conference.
So I was home, alone. I'd seen if Biana or Linh or Marella would want to come over, but Linh and Biana were busy and Marella hadn't answered her imparter.
So I was pretty bored, and had resorted to cleaning my bedroom.
" Sophie?" A tiny, quiet voice whispered.
Startled, I looked around my room.
" Who's there?" I demanded, figuring Biana or Linh were probably playing a trick on me.
And that's when I SAW it. That flicker of movement, the cloudy form.
" Sophie? It's T-T-Tam." The flicker of movement came closer to me.
" Tam?" I scoffed. " Don't play games on me. Come out, whoever you are."
" It's Tam. Tam Song. Sophie, please believe me! I came back-for you!" The voice pleaded.
" Your voice doesn't sound like Tam Song," I replied, intruiged.
The form got more visible.
I gasped.
" Tam!" I shrieked, standing up. I took in the sight of him. " H-how?"
He explained everything with Lady Gisela, and how he had escaped through the window when she left, and discovered he was a ghost.
" Wow," I breathed at the end. " Just wow. But Tam, you can't stay a ghost forever. I mean, you didn't die!"
Tam looked at lot happier as he took in my words. He nodded determaindly.
" Can you, make me a person? An elf again?" He asked quietly.
" I don't know. I can try." I did my best not to make him feel let down. " But for you know you need to hide. We can't let anyone know you are here."
