SOPHIE'S POV

I felt broken.

My life was worthless.

This is how it goes.

After Tam left, oh that betrayer, LOTS of eligable bachelors asked for my hand in marriage.

Of course, after my last fail with love, nobody seemed suitable. Not that I wanted to marry anyone other than Tam.

" Coming down for supper?" Grady knocked on my door. I bolted up to a sitting position.

" Sure. Yeah." I looked at my fluffy, black carpet.

I watched from the corner of my eye as Grady turned to leave. But then he didn't.

" Sophie?" He asked, sort of timidly.

" Yeah?" I kept my head down.

" You need to  move on." My adoptive father's voice had an edge of hardness to it.

I lifted my head slowly. " What do you mean?"

Grady walked further into my room. " You can't go into the past Sophie. Deal with the present. It's not your fault that Tam left. And I can understand you loved him. But his spirit is still within you. So why are you still blaming yourself for something you didn't do?"

A single tear pricked my eye. " Maybe if I told him not too leave.......things would be different." I responded slowly.

" Tam still lives on in you. You will always love him. But you need to move on. I'm tired of your depressions, not wanting to do anything with your friends, and moping around the house. Go be out in the world. I promise you'll be happy."

I looked up at Grady. " Okay." My voice was shaky. I wondered how he was always so calm.

Grady smiled at me. He held out his hand, and I took it.

After dinner, I went back to my room, opened my diary, and started writing.

Today is a new day. Tomorrow will be a fresh start in the lost cities. I must get over Tam. I am strong enough without him. He betrayed me. He said he loved me. I guess he didn't betray me, then. He chose to sacrifice his life to save mine. That's a pretty noble thing to do. Well, got to go. Bye.

P.S. I still love him.

" I still love you, Tam Song." I whispered.

Suddenly, a breeze flapped my curtains. My closet door opened and shut with a bang.

I frowned. My closet wasn't in direct current of the wind.

" Stoppit, Soph. The wind's just playing games on you." I chided myself.

" It's not a ghost, you silly."

A chill was sent down my spine.

I had always learned ghosts were not real.

Or were they?
