The Boy
The rain was pouring so heavily. The cloud was gradually extending and the lightning was keeping dazzling. The trees were crazily dancing among the numerous and unstoppable liquid drops from the above. The traffic was completely a mess. Cars were lucky not to suffer any wet, but driving as fast as drunken. Motor cycles were not as lucky, they had to feel like being hit by many slight knives on the skin of their hands or face, or even the whole body when they were too unfortunate to have a raincoat. The sky was so grey and humidity, which easily made all the sense of a person much more conscious. Like, the sweat of drivers, the harmful smoke from mechanical transporters, the smell of the heavy rain - pure, fresh. Leaves and litters scattered everywhere, even flew to a man's face. The city was again in its usual season, wet and rainy. All the tall buildings with their glasses outside were so slippery with water, blurred and reflective as well. The drop continuously fell off and made many small holes of water on the streets and pavements.
I was sitting alone at the bus stop, looking out at the usual scene in front. I was wearing my iPhone Headphone and listening to Sam Smith's songs, the sad ones. I did not really want to hear this music genres, but It was too suitable for a rainy and depressing day.
As usual, I was waiting for Cara, my best friend. She also caught the bus as mine, we went to the same high school, although we did not attend to the same class. I had known her for only five years, since we studied together in the secondary school. She was kind of my anger guardian, hence that she had protected me so many times. Yes, it was quite weird to say so, but it was true. I was a utter nerd with glasses and quite a big belly. I was usually a target of bullies or the elder students to make joke on or put me inside the women's toilet and locked the door for example. Every Time like that, Cara was there to rescue. She asked the school key guy for the key and saved me.
Unlike me, a classical nerd with the love of Physics and Space, Cara was completely a top girl. Not only was she best at getting all the subjects on average but she was also the school head of student committee. So that was thing I was most proud of her. It was so cool to walk with a girl like that.
"Sorry, late again. How long have you been waiting for me, Charles?" Cara exhaustedly slumped down on the bench and closed the umbrella.
"Oh, never mind. There is still time to get to the school." I turned my head to her. She was wearing a black skirt with also black tight socks inside, a blue shirt covered by a light-pink jumper, and a jacket outside.
"Don't say that. Whenever you listen to Sam Smith music and look out at the front with kind of nothing in your head, you are quite in the state of anxiety." Cara said, looked back at me.
"Yeah, you know me." I smiled, turned my face back to the streets. As the humid weather, I can smell clearly the perfume of jasmine from Cara's clothes, so classically.
"So, did you sleep well last night? I couldn't, the thunder blew so intensely." said Cara.
"Yeah, me neither. I was sometimes even scared that as if it had already made flood. Do you know, most the rain come from our river and sea, which plus with the moon causes the tide makes such a downpour." I explained.
"Whatever, Charles. It was not relative." Cara crumpled up my thick dark hair. "You should get better off knowing more emotional stuff than those lame things."
"Yeah, for you, it wasn't of course any problem. But for me, it was a major struggle."
"Oh, Char, you really should try something new, YOLO you know. Meet some girls, do some sports or find new hobbies." Cara told me this so many times.
"Oh, it rains more slightly." I ignored in a naive way.
"You ignore me. I hate you!" She punched into my arm, and turned away angrily. Yes, I found her really cute and childish when she was like this.
The school bus came. The true nightmare of my whole school life. Danis was on that bus. Danis was our school's principal's son, and of course he was so big-headed and showed that "honor" all the time. He had a gang, which bullied such nerds like me. He was not afraid of anything, and even he did bad things, he always got released.
Cara got on bus first, I went right behind, nervously tried to followed her to out seats, trying to ignore other looks at me. When we finally sat back, Danis came to us.
"Well, again today. Long time don't see, Char-Loser. You still keep sticking to "the Girl"?" He took a deep emphasis on "Char-Loser" and "the Girl" in his voice.
"Leave us alone." Cara replied.
All the Danis's gang smiled out loud.
"Hey, guys, Charles has to depend on "the Girl"! Oh little Charles, do you have to stick under her ass, haha..." Danis joked and laughed.
Cara, as usual, was angry. But for me, it was quite a normal scene.
