4. "The package"

(One week later.)

The whole week that I had known Tyler, I'd shared more trust with him that I had anyone. He was so open to my thoughts and always had an honest response to everything, he actually cared.

I sat at the top row of seats in the theatre, propping my feet up on the seat in front of me. I held a giant tub of popcorn on my lap, waiting for Tyler. All of the Birds were there, each holding their own favorite box of candy. Even Josh was there, sitting next to Amber, who was flirting with him every two minutes.

Tyler sat in the seat next to me, flashing his pearly white smile. "You ready for this movie?" I asked, stuffing a handful of popcorn in my mouth. Tyler nodded and leaned back, placing his arm behind me. "I still don't understand why you chose The Visit."

I shrugged. Horror movies been my favorite since I was little, although I don't recall watching a lot of them. I hardly remember anything before the age of seven, my parents won't tell me about it.

"Hey kid, arms off." Monti turned and growled at Tyler. "She's mine." Tyler leaned forward in his seat, a scowl escaping his lips. "She isn't something you can own. And I hardly think that she is in a relationship with you. Can't you see? I'm sitting next to her; not you." He leaned back and smirked. Monti turned around. "Thanks for that....Monti has been like that since you arrived. It's starting to piss me off." I rested my chin on my palm. Tyler put his hand on my back, causing me to sit straight up. "You sway back and forth when you do that."

The lights dimmed and the theatre shushed, the projecter casting the film on to the screen.

We all walked out of the movies, Jordan seeming to be the most excited. He whistled like a bird and everyone whistled back, similar to how the dogs would howl and the rest would howl back. Tyler and I fell back behind the group, with the exception of Josh, who had mangaged to escape Amber. "So Tyler, you still have one thing to do tonight." I smirked, pushing his shoulder with my fist. His eyes widened and he looked at Josh, who shrugged. "We still have to deliver a package." He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Right now?"
"Yes Tyler, right now."
Monti's mom drove up in her golden van, signaling us to get in. Now, this van was giant. Even with everyone in the car, there was one empty seat. I sat in the front, only so I could have control of the radio. Tyler ended up having to sit next to Monti, given that Amber never left Josh's side.

The speakers blasted heavy-metal music, the loud bass sending waves through car. It was probably really strange to see a car full of teenagers head banging, screaming/growling, and drumming in the dash with pens. Hey, I said strange, not uncommon.

"Alright kids, have fun at Jordan's house!" Monti's mom yelled. "And Monti- please don't get in any trouble!" We all laughed and walked into Jordan's house, bounding up the stairs.

"The plans?" Lilac asked, watching as Peter sat crisscrossed on Jordan's bed. Monti pulled out a peice of paper and handed it to me. "The plans are: 'sneak into the school and in the choir room, get the package, find Jacob Gibbson's house, deliver the package'. Simple."
I looked at Tyler and Josh as Jordan handed them children's walkie-talkies. Peter grabbed a canister of black facepaint and a small paintbrush. "This is a little extravagant for delivering something, don't you think?" Josh questioned, Monti covering his face in black facepaint. I shook my head.

"You should have seen when I had to do this." I laughed. I picked up a dark dufflebag and handed it to Tyler. "The doors to the school are locked, take the keys in the bag. The camera's should be off, but be careful."

Tyler, Josh and I sneaked out the window, dropping into the bushes below. Jordan's house was only a few blocks away from the school, so it didn't take is long to get there. I took the keys from the bag and unlocked the door. Peter most likely got them from the janitor. I was surprised that an alarm didn't go off. We crept into the choir room and into the office, taking the small package. It was a little box wrapped in brown paper. I shoved it in the dufflebag and ran out of the school, Josh and Tyler trailing behind me. I locked the door of the school and we raced down the street, which in its own probably looked creepy, when Tyler stopped in his tracks. He opened the duffle bag and pulled out the package. "What are you doing?!" I hissed.

"Aren't you curious? We could be carrying a bomb for all we know!" He started to peel back the brown paper. I stood silently and watched. Tyler's eyes widened as he pulled out a small plastic bag.

"That's fucking weed!" I took a step back as he dropped it back in the box, wrapped the paper back around, and used the tape off of it to seal it again. "Let's just get it to Jacob!"

I eventually found him at the Big Cats' hideout, smoking a joint and cackling. I handed him the box. "Go on little birdies. Here." He gave Tyler a dollar bill and we rushed off. When we arrived at Jordan's house, I was completely exhausted.

Actually, everybody was tired. We all laid in a circle with our backs pressed together. "That was....strange. How much did he give you?" I asked Tyler, referring to the money. He opened his clutched fist and looked at the bill, eyeing it. "Twenty dollars."

I nodded and closed my eyes, eventually drifting to sleep.
