Aarav's pov
"Never thought a day would come when I would see you taking a work load." I didn't need to lift my head to guess that Mishti must be wiping her fake tears when I heard her sniffing from the screen.

Continuing to analyse the file I've been reading, I let out a grunt, "For your enlightenment, my dad stopped giving me paychecks for free long ago."

"Suits you." She sassed, annoying me further than she already has been doing by being on facetime.

My gaze flickers to the screen when I hear her letting out a weird noise, her palm going straight to her mouth and next second she was rushing somewhere followed by the concerned voice of her Italian boyfriend.

The pen between my fingers continuously taps against the desk, my eyes fixed on the screen. My body, instinctively, got in previous posture as the shuffling sound from the other side of the screen reached my ears and I feigned nonchalance.

Over the years, pretending not to care has become an instinct which my body has got accustomed to.

"I'm too young to be an uncle." I quipped in, my tone mocking with a clear moto to rile her up. "I'm gifting you condoms from next Christmas."

By the look on her face, if she could jump out the screen then she would have strangled me to death. "Ever heard of food poisoning, asshole ?"

My back crouched leisurely on the chair, a small guffaw leaving my lips. "Suits you."

A loud groan vented past her lips. It looked like she was about to pull out her hair until she was bald. Too busy imagining a bald Mishti in my head, I didn't pay much heed when the screen went on hold. However when the screen lit up again, my body went still as the most captivating face graced the screen.

I watched how she abruptly stopped talking, her eyes widening in bafflement when they met mine. Fuck! Right this moment I couldn't decide if I wanted to thank Mishti or throttle her.

"Hello Honey-eye." She sucked in a breath and automatically a smirk pulled on the corner of my lips. Seeing the way I affect her even though I can't even touch a strand of her hair, entices the diabolical points in me in a very twisted way.

Her eyes avoid my hawk-like stare while she shuffles through some papers by her side. It feels like back to those days when we would sit around each other for longer and longer, but rarely would speak a word, while her flustered self would try to avoid my eyes all while.

I__uh_" Her words trail off, a tint of scarlet climbing on her cheeks. It makes me wonder if she is reminiscing about the evening two days ago. "I've got some errands to take care of. See you, Mishti."

Her words were directed towards Mishti, nevertheless her eyes were on me instead. Regardless of her disappearing from the screen within a blink, a smug grin emerged on my lips.

Author's pov
A creepy feeling crawled inside Mishika when she returned to her desk from the washroom and suddenly found the whole floor eerily silent and deserted, draped in almost darkness with just a few bulbs lit. Just ten minutes back, she wasn't alone on the floor and now she couldn't spot anyone around her.

Out of nervousness, her fingers fiddled with the button of the shirt she wore while she, with deliberate steps, strolled around to check what was happening. Fear kicked in her guts, her feet instantly sprinted back to her desk as she frantically began to collect her stuff.

Her palm flew to cover her mouth to curb the abrupt shriek, her body jumped on the spot when she heard a distant whistling sound inching closer.

"Bhoot pisaach nikat nahi aave. Mahaveer jab naam sunave." Her lips incessantly moved into a hushed chant, meanwhile she made a run to the elevator.

(All the ghosts, demons, and evil forces keep away, with the sheer mention of your great name, O'Mahaveer!!)

Before she could step inside, a hand gripped her waist pulling her back and in result she let out a yelp after being collided with something stout.

"Hello Honey-eye." Her actions ceased right away and she whipped around, coming face to face with her nightmare for a husband.

"You" She shrieked, eyes widened. "Who do you think does that ?"

"Me." He grinned.

Her eyes narrowed into slits, shooting him a glare. "You creeped me out."

"Did I ?" A glint appeared in his eyes, dark and incendiarios, as if he was delighted by her response.

"You literally gave me a heart attack." Another accusation vents out, her chest heaving up and down.

Callous fingers skim the outline of her visage, sliding down to grasp her chin. "Don't worry. You won't die, sweetheart. I won't allow that." His voice turned huskier. "We still have an eternity to live together."

A warm yet chilly shiver, something so illegal, surged inside her. "What are you trying to do ?" He matched the line of her sight while she took a quick glance around.

"Trying to convince you to come back home."

She gaped at him, opening and closing her mouth like a fish, but no relevant words forming.

"I can't." His shoulders stiffened, jaw ticked nonetheless he didn't let his composure dissolve. "My parents have stood by my side when usually parents abandon or lash on their kids. They chose me over what chaar log would say. And I will choose them over everyone."

(They chose me above what people would say.)

Her eyes casted away from him, her steps retreating. Gasping out loud, she collided back with his chest when he spinned her back to himself, a growl rumbling through his chest.

"You want divorce ? Fine." A dark gleam clouded his eyes and she felt as if it could break her soul into shambles, only to rebuild a corrupted version. "Earlier we were connected spiritually, but I will not mind keeping you bound to me deviously."

The ground slipped beneath her feet and in literal sense, as he abruptly picked her up in the air, arms serpentined beneath her hips that earned a shaky breath from her.

"There's no going back from here. Neither for you nor for me. You belong to me as much as I belong to you." Her hand crouched back to balance herself when he placed her on a random desk nearby. "I didn't stake my claim because I was keeping a nice part of me to save you from my darkness. But don't misinterpret me as some world saving hero, sweetheart."

A hand runs down to her thighs from her waist, awakening goosebumps on their way. Applying a little force on her joined knees, he made room for himself to stand in between.

"Guess what Honey-eye, now no one can stop me from claiming what's mine." A strong possession has the browns indulged in the black holes. In her daze, she paid no heed to his hand slithering their way up from her thighs ever so sensually. "You'll live with me and meanwhile I'll teach you how to put a claim on what's yours. Because all these years I've been left out only to be claimed by you."

Upon reaching her derrière, he gave it a light squeeze and her breathing laboured. Their mouths parted with a delicious breath venting out, as their bottoms brushed when he tugged her closer. "I was always yours. I was a fool to realise it late."

The devil's allure wasn't something that could be staved off. And now that the thin line between her hate and his obsession has started to blur, it couldn't be grasped where that would lead them to.

Her hands flew to his chest, trying to barricade his move, as he began to lean closer. "Aarav_" Her voice came shaky and raspier, her concerned gaze raking around. Her emotions and thoughts were all over the place, as if she was in a haze. "The CCTV."

A diabolical smile graced his lips after hearing her concern. He has managed to vacate the entire office and all she was worried about was the stupid CCTV. She sounded so befuddled and adorable, like a naive prey and it was turning him on. "I'll take care of that."

And then his mouth found hers with utmost urgency and unfathomable fervency, and a mewl resonated from the back of her throat. His lips were ferocious on hers, but not like a punishment. He kissed her like a starved-man who was straying around the oasis and now the real taste of water has encapsulated every thirstful nerve of his.

He was adamant to drop her to her childhood home but since she insisted not to, he languidly stopped a block away, like he used to do years ago.

She couldn't believe she almost made out with him in the place where she works. Even though he was her husband, it felt so forbidden and erring, but she would be lying if she said a part of her didn't feel giddy and thrilled simultaneously.

Checking her appearance in the rear view mirror, if she looked presentable enough to go in front of her parents or not, she turned around to face him. A surprised noise drew out, finding his face already invading her vicinity. His fingers swaddled around her nape, pulling her further closer to attach their foreheads as he let out a sigh.

"You deserve a man who stands by your side every time." His breath fans across her lips, teasing them with the sultriness. "And I promise to be the man to be at any side you want. Either to be beside you." And then his voice descended a few octaves low, sounding hoarse than before. "Or even to be inside you."

Upon saying that, he didn't let his baffled wife give out a composed reaction as his lips locked with hers, sealing the Beast's promise to his beautiful Rose.

Aarav's pov continues
Mishti's screeching voice pulled me out of my trance and I shot her an irritated look.

"Christ! Don't tell me you're having a wet dream with open eyes." Mishti gagged, her face morphed into a grimace. The smug grin stretched further and I gave her a look 'You never know' on which she scoffed. "How has your sex life been lately ?"

My shoulders shrug as I curb a wince, "Dry and handy." A mocking laugh busted through her throat followed by a disapproving groan of her boyfriend.

Neither her mother nor her Italian boyfriend can get used to us discussing our sex life as if we are talking about the most random thing around.

The chime of the doorbell made my brows furrow. For working on the next project dad handed over to me, I've been working in the penthouse all day. And I wasn't expecting any guests, in fact I barely have any visitors.

"Why is he here ?" My gaze rounded from the live security camera footage in my phone to my iPad, where Mishti was grinning like a Cheshire cat.

"It's bad manners to keep the guests waiting. Don't be an ass and let him in." I deadpanned but anyway allowed the access.

A short while later there was a knock on the door and my response came out with a dry "Come in".

Ishan stepped inside, throwing a conflicted smile my way as he closed the door after him and on the contrary, I narrowed my eyes at his presence. A scowl repleted on Mishti's face at my reaction but good for her, she chose not to make a comment.

"What is the probability of me getting away as I murder you now." I saw how Mishti and Ishan's eyes widened as saucers, horror marrying their faces. "Don't worry about the body. I've enough connections, you know."

"Aarav fucking asshole Oberoi, behave." Damn! I hope my ears don't start bleeding from the way Mishti is screeching.

"What!?" A huff exhaled out. "He is useless anyway."

"Considering I'm accepted as a smooth welcome in your wife's house when you aren't even allowed to be anywhere near, I don't think I'm that useless."

I gritted my teeth as he gave me a knowing smile, extra sweet, that can cause diabetes. Fucking goody-two-shoes. And the girl who claims to be my best friend, let out a loud chortle on his remark. Traitor.

Reluctantly, I beckoned him to take a seat and angled my MacBook adjacently so that we both were able to face Mishti. "Let's work on mission 'Saving Aarav fucking asshole Oberoi's ass from getting divorced."

Mishti beamed whereas Ishan ducked his head low to curb his laugh. "What the fuck!" I'm going to strangle her once I get my hands on her.

Sensing my murderous eyes boring holes in her head, she rolled her eyes at me. "What ?" She scoffed. "I don't think you will get married again if you get divorced. As are your actions, no girl's father is going to give you his girl."

"I don't want just kisi ki bhi beti. I just need my sasur ji's daughter." By the look on Mishti's face, I know she couldn't grasp the exact meaning of my words, but the possessiveness blazing in my tone laid my intentions barefaced. Even Ishan turned attentive, staring with gaping eyes as if he was seeing me for the first time.

(I don't want just anyone's daughter. I just need my father-in-law's daughter.)

A throat clearing sound cut in the weird air lingering in the ambiance, and Mishti's voice buzzed again. "So, what are we working on first ?"

I opened the drawer at arm's length at the right side and took out the notepad on which I've been making notes ever since I took her out on the first date. "On how to woo your wife's parents."

"And whom to start with ?" If an attentive child had an official face then it definitely would be Ishan. Topper for a reason.

"Of course with my mother-in-law. Lady luck charms brighter in my life."

We began discussing the pros and cons until Mishti's boyfriend interrupted in between, waving her bye with a quick peck on her lips. I had a hard time stifling my laughter when I saw Ishan's eyes widening and face turning red, like a deer caught in the headlights.

"What is your favourite movie ?" His eyebrows cocked from being off-guard from my unforeseen question. "I don't think you're deaf."

Ignoring my jabs, he simply answered my question while itching his nape in awkwardness, "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun."

My head bobbled in approval as I let out a humming sound. I wasn't expecting anything less from him either. It's also my little wife's favourite.

A sudden wave of jealousy wrecked my insides and I had to clench my fist, to keep the green monster from unleashing.

There's no way I'm keeping my chances with my Honey-eye at stake just because I'm too enticed to punch her best friend. She broke all ties with me when I broke his nose and I can't afford to get divorced just because I find his face sometimes too punchable.

"Kid" I muttered, dismissing him.

"You do remember that your wife is the same age as me, right ?" Planting his elbows on the desk, he leaned forward slightly, giving an innocent look. "Wouldn't that make you sound like a paedophile ?"

An angry growl grumbled in the air, followed by Mishti's loud laughter and Ishan's muffled guffaw.

These two annoying pieces of shit.
