Chapter 7
"Virgil Summers." He said, grinning as he held a hand out to me. I smiled shyly at him but didn't shake his hand, instead I pulled my hair over the left side of my face a little more.
"Janus." I said. Remus threw his hand across my shoulders, making me jump and blush slightly.
"Jan lived next door. And now-" Remus cut himself off, looking at me. Virgil looked between us, a small smirk creeping across his face.
"So are you two together?" He asked. I could feel my face turn bright red and Remus broke off into a violent coughing fit.
"No." Remus said quickly after he had regained composure. "We're just friends." Those words hurt more than I expected them to. Virgil smirked knowingly.
"Sure." He said slowly. "Well, I'm going out with Roman. Bye." He said suddenly, turning on his heel and running out of the door yelling something like "Race you, Princey."
Remus turned to me and smiled slightly. "Sorry about him. He always assumes the worst." He said sheepishly. I nodded, tears pricking my eyes. So being with me in a romantic way was a worst case scenario, was it?
"I'm gonna go for a walk." I said hurriedly, grabbing my shoes and rushing out of the door.
I hit the floor before I could process what happened.
"Did you not hear what I said, Freak?" A boy spat, smirking as one of his friends kicked me in the gut. "I asked you why your face is so messed up. What are you, a fucking half-snake?" He laughed.
"That's none of your damn business." I hissed, trying to get up only to be kicked down.
"I believe it is my business. Because I am the one beating you up, Freak." He said, smirking and pulling my head up by my hair. Then, I made a huge mistake and spat in his face. "Disgusting freak!" He yelled, pulling out a dagger. "I think you need to learn some manners." He grinned, pulling my shirt up and making a cut with the dagger. I yelled in pain, making him laugh. I felt the letter 'F' being carved into my stomach. Then a 'R' and an 'E'.
"What the fuck are you doing, Freddie?" A voice asked. I couldn't see who it was through the blur of pain.
"Remus, great to see you. You wanna help us beat up this freak?"
Remus, from what I saw, looked slightly tempted before seeing it was me. "Holy shit, no! He's not a freak. He," Remus took a breath, "he's my boyfriend!"
'Freddie' looked from Remus to me and then back to Remus. "You mean you are dating a freak like this?" Remus nodded. Freddie laughed. "Great gag, Rem."
"I'm not joking."
Freddie looked mildly disgusted. "Wow Rem, I knew you were sick in the head but this is just fucking insane."
"Leave him alone, he's with me." Freddie made no indication that he was going to move. "I said leave him alone, Freddie!" Remus yelled.
"Whatever." Freddie muttered, dropping my hair and leaving with his gang. Remus ran up to me.
"Oh God, Janus. Janus, oh shit. I'm so sorry."
I shuffled away from him. "Leave me alone."
"What?"
"Stop giving me mixed signals. First, you say that dating me would be a worst case scenario and now you're saying that I'm your boyfriend. Stop it!" I yelled, struggling up, clutching my stomach. "Do you know how much it hurts my heart?!"
"Janus, slow down. What hurts your heart?"
"The fact that you say we're just friends but then say that I'm your boyfriend! I want to kiss you, to be your boyfriend, I want everything you told that guy to be true! But we're just friends, you've said so yourself. So, stop it. Stop with the mixed signals." I finished, looking away.
Remus let out a low chuckle. "Is this clear enough?" I was about to ask what but then Remus' lips were on mine and the boy I'd know, my first friend and first crush, was kissing me and this wasn't a dream. He pulled back and I could tell that my face was on fire. "Well, was it?"
I smiled shyly. "Couldn't be clearer."
Ha ha, I finally finished this story! I finally accomplished something! Sorry if this was crappy, I didn't want to write more than one chapter to end this story.
Bye,
Queenie
