Chapter 36: Single Pringle

"I am sorry." He sighs.
"It's okay" she flaps.
"I didn't mean to- I am really sorry"
"Don't you understand, its okay!" She gasps covering her face within her palms.

I sit there looking at the dreadful scene going on before me between my brother and Cruz's cousin.
"I can take you to the infirmary." He suggests. "No need." She states.

"I will take her." I intrude.
"Are you sure?" Brook asks, I reply with a nod and help Abby to the infirmary.

A few minutes ago everything was going so perfect. A perfect sunny day, a perfect mood with a perfect start, and that's when I took the atrocious decision of enjoying the bright sun.

I sat on one of the benches, fixed at the outline of the huge soccer field, watching Brook playing soccer along with his teammates.

A moment later I was joined by Abigail. "Can I sit next to you?" She asked. 'A-s-k-e-d' for permission for the first very time. I nodded giving her a small smile and then she joined me, to relish the bright sun.

Everything was still going fine and that's when Brook got the ball and with a swift swing he kicked the ball. The ball, with the speed of the bullet landed straight on Abby's face. Her face turned blood red with ball print on it. Tears streaming out of eyes and you know what all happened after that.

"Is she fine?" Brook asks as I come out of the infirmary. "Yeah, the nurse gave her a painkiller and suggested her to rest." I inform. "Good." He nods.
"Could I see her?" He asks. "I suggest better not to, you know she gets mad easily" I smile.
"Yeah right" he snorts.

Brooklyn's P.O.V

I just spoiled everything. How can I be so careless while kicking the ball. Ugh! I feel embarrassed of what I did. That poor girl now have a red face all because of me.

Though I apologized, I still feel she didn't accept it. I need to apologize again, after Blake left i sneaked inside the infirmary. She was sleeping on the infirmary bed. Her hazel hair sticking out in all direction. Her face little red but the ball print I gave her had vanished.

She looked so innocent while sleeping. I brushed the loose strand of her hair and tucked it behind her ear, acknowledging her pretty face. Suddenly her eyes snappened open. Her hazel eyes locked with mine blue.

"Ohh, gross!" She squealed.
"Shhh!" I tried to calm her down.
"You want to kill me? Isn't the red mark you gave me enough?" She barks. "Is it still paining" I say brushing my thumb over her red face.
"Ouch!" She cries pulling my hand off. She still looks beautiful.

"I just wanted to apologize" I say.
"What! Okay, I forgive you. Now go. Will you or should I call the nurse to kick you out?"
"Alright, I am going." I give up my hands, "by the way you look beautiful." I wink at her.

Her face turns more red, she throws the pillow at me shouting,"jerk." I smile back at her mouthing,"hot jerk." With that, I leave the room.

Ding! Ding! My phone rings. I slide it out to see the caller ID.
This girl will never leave me alone.
I disconnect the call.

The phone rings again.
"Ugh! Yes?" I finally answer the call.
"Hey baby how are you?"
"Not good, suffering from third stage cancer," I murmer, irritated.
"Ohh baby don't you say that, you know I love you," she prattle on.
"Rhea. Please for pete's sake, I am not your baby, and please stop calling me without any moral reason," I bark running short of patience.

With that I disconnect the call. The phone rings again. She is really testing my patience. I swipe the green option on my phone answering the call.
"Is your Brain filled with rubbish, don't you understand? Never call me again," I outburst.

"Easy man, I think my brain is filled with gray matter rather than rubish," the familiar voice from the other end of the phone gushes. I check the caller ID again.
"Oh shit! I am sorry," I apologise for my out burst.

"You should be, anyway meet me in the parking lot in three minutes" she orders.
"Three minutes? Very precise"
"Yeah you lost your one minute there, now left with two"
"Blake. Have patience I am coming"

"Please leave me, please," I begged for the hundredth time.
"No! Not even Jesus can save you from me" she stubbornly replied. Blake dragged me into another huge boutique. This is the fifth boutique of the day. I wince as the spicy and sharp aroma of dresses fill my nostrils.

"You are helping me choose my prom dress" she orders.
"Are you mad? How can I help you with that? take your friends help, but please free me, I am freaking tired" I begged again.
"Please, you are the only one free and yes you are helping me pay for the dress." "What? No way, you know about my crisis. Cruz will be over happy to help you, ask him."

"Why would he pay? You are my brother its your duty to help your little sister, I don't even have much funds to buy a good dress, and its already the fifth one. I hope we get something better here." She makes a puppy face.
"Alright, I will pay only fifteen percent" I say. "No, fifty" she objects.
"Ten," I warn. "Okay twenty five."
"Done." I nod.

"By the way, did Cruz ask you for prom?" I scoffed
"Uh! No, actually Ryan asked but I turned him down. I think I am going to be all alone," she sighs. "Trust me darling you won't." I smirk.
"Don't act corny." She chuckles.

"Yes kids, what do you want?" A lady come's to attend us.
"Actually we are looking for prom dresses." Blake replies.
"Would you like to see some latest dresses?" The lady asks.

How stupid? We are not here to see refrigerators or air conditioners. Of course we want to see dresses, that is what we are here for.

"This is our new collection" the lady show us some colourful dresses.
"How is this?" Blake asks picking up a glittered blue lace gown.
"Uh? It's good, buy it" I say. I am the least interested person here, I don't even know what I am doing here? Do I look like a walking ATM?

"Nah! Its too glittery" Blake dejects the gown. She points down at another green gown with belt and then looks at me. I nod. She shakes her head again disapproving the dress.

Suddenly my eyes land on a sleeveless white gown, with diamond work on it.
"Try this," I say handing her the dress.
"Yeah! This looks good" she nods scrutinizing the dress.

"Where can I try this dress?" Blake asks the lady. The lady looks at the dress and then comments,"this dress is perfect."

She points towards the try room. After waiting for five minutes Blake finally unlocks the try room door.

My jaw meets the floor as I look at her and the long white gown, finally reviving from the shock I comment. "You look hideous, like a crazy bride." My face turns purple trying not to laugh. Her face fixed in a permanent frown.

"Ugh! You are not helping me."
"I think You need someone else who could help you better, maybe Emma or Mamma"

"Emma can't take out time, she is too busy in her own world. And you know mum don't even have a single second to waste."
"What about Abigail?" I ask.
"Do you think she can help?"

"Of course I do think. By the way thanks for wasting my entire day, lets get out of here now." I say.
"Yeah, its already getting dark." With that we finally get out of the fifth boutique.

Blake's P.O.V

Do you ever feel like you will always remain single. No matter what.
The same feeling I was experiencing. Prom is coming closer and Cruz has not even talked to me properly. I think I will be my own date for the prom;
Single Pringle as always.

Today was a hectic day. Going to five boutiques in a row is not an easy job.
I still can't find a dress for Prom. Should I ask Abby for help or not?
I diall Abby's number, after few rings she picks up her phone.

"Yes?" She answers.
"Hey Abby."
"I said you don't call me that." She gasps. "Okay sorry, I want your help."
"And what is it?" She asks.
"Actually today I was looking for a Prom dress, I and Brook went to almost five boutiques."

"Brooklyn? Your stupid twin?"
"Yeah! You know boys are not of any help... when it comes to shopping, so I was thinking.." I speak but she cuts me. "Come straight to the point." She demands.

"Ugh! So I was thinking if you could help me with Prom dress." I utter, unsure of her response.
"Well! Okay then tomorrow after school." Did she just agree? How amusing."Thank you so much." I say.
"Don't thank me, even I have to buy a dress and I wanted a second opinion."
"Yeah! Still thankyou." She disconnects the call.
This girl....

I need sleep, sometimes I wish humans could hibernate. How fun it would be!

Next Morning,
I rub my sleepy eye's and stretch getting out of the bed. It's school time.
I drag myself into the washroom, take a warm shower and change into my school clothes.

"Morning handsome." I wish Brook as I walk into the kitchen.
"Somebody is in a good mood," he scoffs. I roll my eyes .
"Hey darling," mom greets as she pulls me into a bear hug.

"Mum seeing you after years," I mock.
"Blake I am not in the mood. Bye babies," she says motioning two flying kisses towards our direction. I walk to the shelf and pour some milk in the bowl filled with cornflakes.

I grab a seat next to Brook.
"So.." I start.
"What so?" He asks.
"Uhh! You are so annoying"
"Okay, thanks." He says.

I start tapping my toe against the floor, its a habit.
"Stop fidgeting," he orders me, eating the last spoon of flakes.
"I am thinking something." I say.
"Hmm." That's his answer.
"Geez! Won't you ask me what is it?"
"Umm, No" he answers eating the left berries.

"So whom are you asking for Prom?" I ask. "None of your business." He says.
"Brook why so rude?" Wow! That rhymes.

"Because I am still not over with those stupid boutiques I went to because of you." He answers.
"Aww, my big brother is upset." I mock. "Yeah a minute bigger brother." He roll his eyes.
"Sorry, I want to ask Abigail for the prom." He says casually.

My jaw drops. Is he mad? I know that girl very well, she is gorgeous, pretty, skinny but she will never with him even if he is the last boy on the planet. She will still find a martian more attractive than my brother.
"You must be kidding." I chuckle.
"Do I look in that mood?" He asks flatly.

Too much mood swings today.
"She is hard. Too hard." I say.
"I know that is why I want to ask her out" he smirks. "Brook, don't act stupid," I warn.
"I know right its tough but you know I will do this, Caty." He smirks.

"I said you don't call me that." I yell.
"Catch me if you can," he runs out of the house. I have to lock the door.

Zzzzz! Zzzzz!
I feel viberation in my pocket. I slip the phone out to look at the caller ID.
It's Cruz calling after years. Okay! Not after years but days.

"Yes?" I answer the call walking slowly towards the bus stand. Brook has already reached the stop.
"How are you?" He asks. Not good, that is what I want to say. "Good," I end up saying.

"Can we meet today?" He asks.
"No!" I answer. Of course I would love to see him. "Alright! See you at seven." He says.

"No! I will not see you, remember last time? When you didn't come." I say bluntly. Suddenly I feel someone's weight over my shoulder. I snap back ready to kick whoever it is.

"You look beautiful when you are angry." He smiles. It's Cruz. How can I forget he lives the next door.
"Get off me," I move my shoulder snapping of his hand.
"You are still mad?" He raises his brows. "No! No! I am very happy, how I can be mad?" I mock.

"I said I am sorry, won't you forgive the person you love?" He winks. Thank god Brook is not looking here right now to see the drama going on.
"The person I love? Huh?" I roll my eyes. "Oho! I wanted you and Abby to spend time together, and I can see you two are getting along," he says.

"How can you see that?" I ask.
"Sixth sense," he smirks. I roll my eyes slapping his hand playfully. We finally reach the bus stop.
"Hey Brook," Cruz greets. "Hallo."

Awkward silence takes over, one could just hear the soft whistles escaping Cruz lips. Finally the bus arrives.
"See you later at seven." Cruz whispers in my ear placing a soft kiss on my cheek, and with that he runs towards different direction.

I stood there frozen, elephants jumping in my stomach as I trace the cheek where he just kissed.
Why did he even wait for the bus, when he had no plans to go in it. What is he planning to do at seven? Or is he still gonna make fool outta me by not coming?

The driver honks the horn snapping me out of the sudden shock. I walk into the bus.
Start of another hectic day......
