chapter seven

SAM VOWED TO BEAT SELINE'S ASS FOR THIS.

She looked over the Miyagi-Do dojo in pure fury. The whole yard had been trashed, the fence had been spray-painted, and the equipment was broken.

"Cobra Kai has officially stuped to a new low." Robby sighed, kicking around pieces of rock.

"That bitch was at the head of it," Sam said. "Mr.Miyagi's metal is missing."

It had been her dad's most prized possession, and now it was gone, along with all the progress their homemade dojo was making.

"You really think Seline did all this?" Robby questioned. "This is all a bit extreme, even for her."

"You don't know her like I do," Sam said. "She probably sat back and watched while the rest of them did all of this."

Robby considered Sam's words for a moment. So far, everything he'd seen from Seline had lined up with what Sam had told him. If Seline hated Sam as much as she claimed, maybe he couldn't put vandalization past her either.

"She has been talking a lot of shit about Miyagi-Do," Robby commented, making Sam clench her fists so tightly till they turned a pale white.

"I'm gonna make her pay." Sam decided, although she wasn't exactly sure how yet.

"Yeah, well let's figure out how to clean this all up first." Robby huffed.

"Right," Sam muttered.

                                     ——

SELINE FELT LIKE TODAY WOULD BE THE DAY SHE DIED.

"Who trashed the Miyagi-Do dojo?" Johnny barked at them.

The whole class had been doing burpees for the past ten minutes, and it was really starting to wear Seline down.

Her huffs soon turned into wheezes as she went up and down. Whenever the culprit revealed themselves, Seline had planned to curb stomp them with everything she had left in her.

"Sensei, we really don't know who did it." Miguel managed to say before returning to the ground.

"Sensei, I think I'm going to die!" Seline whined. "I can't die looking like this!"

"Quiet!" Johnny yelled at her.

"Well, someone knows something." Kreese stood with his arms folded. "So, which one of you is going to break first?"

Seline had half a mind to blame the shit on Mitch or maybe Hawk—She'd say anything to put an end to her agony.

Johnny stepped away to take a phone call while the burpee drills continued. Seline didn't see how Miyagi-Do being fucked up was their problem, especially hers. However, she did picture the shell shocked look on Sam's face and it made her snort.

"Two-minute break," Kreese said finally, and Seline gasped thankfully, placing a hand over her chest. She dashed over to her bag, shoving one of the other students in the process.

Seline drained every last drop of water from her Hydroflask before taking a deep breath.

"Hey." Miguel approached her. "What do you think about all of this?"

Seline hadn't spoken to him for most of practice, not really interested in striking up a conversation.

But she and Miguel were supposed to be friends now or whatever. Seline considered the term friend quite loosely when it came to him. It was more of a pissing Samantha off-ituationship.

"Honestly I don't really give a damn." Seline chucked her bottle back into her bag. "And I don't see why we all have to suffer because of it."

"Yeah." Miguel agreed, and Seline gave him a weird look.

"You're pretty chatty today," Seline said, sarcasm evident.

"Normal people like talking to their friends." Miguel shot back.

"Piss off," Seline muttered, but Miguel smiled anyway.

                                      ——

Seline found herself tossing heavy ropes by Tory. Her arm muscles had completely worn themselves out.

"My arms are like on hellfire mode right now," Seline spoke hoarsely.

"I'm about to drop to the floor," Tory said as they continued.

"Kreese is not letting up," Miguel said. "We got to figure out who did it."

"I bet it was shitbreath." Tory said, gesturing in Mitch's direction.

"Oh, please." Mitch stood up. "We all know Seline's crazy ass probably did it since she hates Sam so much."

Seline dropped her ropes in annoyance. "You wanna see crazy?"

"I mean, we can do this right now." Mitch moved forward. Seline had only taken one step before Miguel got in between them.

"Why would I waste my energy doing some dumb shit like that?" Seline spoke over Miguel's shoulder. "I don't give a fuck about Sam."

"I highly doubt that," Aisha muttered, and mostly everyone agreed.

"Guys, it wasn't her," Miguel said. "Seline was with me last night."

Tory whipped her head towards Seline, whose cheeks puffed out in embarrassment.

"Don't say it like that you dumbfuck!" Seline groaned, shoving Miguel away from her.

"Are you going to explain or..." Tory raised a brow. Seline cut in before Miguel could even start.

"Our mothers know each other, which was fucking news to me," Seline said. "His mom came over and dragged his ass with her. That's all."

"Stop!" Kreese shouted. "Would you really like to know who did it?"

Everyone stared at Kreese in expectant silence. Seline just crossed her arms and waited.

"It was Hawk." Kreese gestured.

"You cunt." Seline hissed. "Doing that and making Moon cry?"

"And it was Grey." Kreese continued. "And Diaz."

"The hell it was," Seline muttered.

"When one of you makes a move, you all make a move," Kreese said.

"That's collective punishment," Seline pointed out in irritation. "This isn't the military."

"But I'm sure your father would agree with me," Kreese said, and Seline fell silent.

"All of you are Cobra Kai, so you share the consequences," Kreese said.

"Main dojo, five minutes."

-------

MITCH GOT WHAT HE'D HOPED FOR AFTER ALL, UNFORTUNATELY FOR HIM.

Seline sparred with him, fueled by spite from his earlier comment. She was faster and easily dodged all his attacks.  When he left himself open, Seline kicked him in the chest.

"Point." Miguel raised a flag.

"Ha!" Seline smiled. "Eat shit loser."

Mitch huffed out in annoyance on his knees.

"Hit him again," Kreese said.

Seline looked down at Mitch for a second. He was already halfway onto the ground, and the match had been so easy. But then she looked back to Kreese, and his stare was enough for her to make a decision.

Approval.

When she raised her leg again, Kreese smiled at her immediate compliance.

"Wait!" Miguel said before her hit could connect. "This isn't what Sensei Lawrance has been teaching us."

"Excuse me?" Kreese said.

"There's no honor in being merciless," Miguel said. "Seline scored a point, so the match is over."

Seline gave Miguel an irritated glance, which he ignored. He was totally stealing her moment right now with his moral high ground shit.

"Sensei Lawrence is right, of course," Kreese said. "In a tournament, fighting stops when you land a point. But in the real world, it's not about scoring points, it's about being a winner or a loser."

Seline could tell Miguel didn't really agree. But she did. Life will never give losers any grace, she knew that already—So why should she?

"Seline." Kreese addressed. "Finish it."

This time, Seline didn't think twice.

                                     ——

WHEN KREESE TOLD SELINE THAT HE WAS PROUD OF HER, SHE BEAMED.

It felt good to know she was getting somewhere with all of this.

"Thank you, sensei," Seline said bashfully.

"I'm sure your father is proud as well," Kreese said, and Seline's mood was killed instantly.

"Yeah, I doubt that," Seline said. "He's still bitter about me quitting ballet."

"Now is the time to show him you've changed then," Kreese said. "When does he get back into town?"

"Today, I think," Seline said. "I'll let him know you asked about him, though."

Seline wandered into the back rooms, lured by the sounds of Miguel assaulting the punching bag.

"Damn what'd the bag do to you?" Seline walked in with her hands on her hips.

Miguel stopped to give her his attention, but Seline could tell by the furrowing of his brows that something was up.

"Problem?" Seline said, leaning onto the bag.

"Nothing, just... today's lesson was crazy, right?" Miguel asked tentatively.

"I hate that word." Seline mused. "Crazy."

"Don't you think that the stuff Sensei Kreese is teaching us feels wrong?" Miguel asked.

"No," Seline said after a beat. "I don't."

"Is that why you followed through with his order?" Miguel said.

"When I was doing ballet, the competition was so stiff," Seline said after a pause. "None of the girls on my team were friends."

Miguel let her continue.

"I was the only black girl there, and it didn't help that I was clearly the best dancer."

"So what?" Miguel said. "Everyone hated you for it?"

Seline chuckled. "They'd fuck up my gear and shit like that."

Miguel's face fell.

"I'd have to go into practice earlier than everyone else to color my pointe shoes to match my skin." Seline plopped onto the floor.

"I remember being so tired, but then we'd jump straight into practice, and I knew that no matter what, I'd need to give it my all because the world would never let me have any excuses."

"So yes, I followed his order because that was what was expected of me," Seline concluded. "I don't have the luxury of half assing any requests he makes."

"I'm so sorry," Miguel said. "That must've been so hard for you."

Seline shook her head. "That's the thing though; I loved it. It gave me the motivation to become better than all of them."

So this was Seline's brain, on display for him to see. Miguel could see the logic in her story, of course, he even understood that she had a lot to fight for—So did he.

Still, though, he wasn't aware she could become even more complicated.

"Let's spar." Seline jumped up suddenly, her mood changing in an instant. "I owe you an ass whooping from last time.

Miguel blinked. Another thing he was learning about Seline was that she wasn't capable of sitting with one feeling for too long as if it was uncomfortable for her.

"Uh, sure, yeah." Miguel agreed.

Seline took her position and so did he. Miguel could tell she wasn't kidding about the ass whooping because when she moved, she attacked his legs first. Miguel stumbled a little, and Seline punched him in the gut before he could recover.

"Try harder," Seline demanded. "I'm gonna get bored."

"You asked for it," Miguel said, and Seline gave him a catty smile in response.

Their fight went on for a while longer, and Seline was more than keeping up. She had learned from the earlier fight, and now Miguel was paying for it. Seline elbowed Miguel harshly, then ducked to sweep his feet, causing him to fall.

"Doesn't feel too nice, does it?" Seline asked, pinning all her weight on top of him.

Miguel would have replied quicker, but the thick scent of vanilla wafted from Seline's body. She was way too close, smelled way too good, and her curls fell into her face when she looked down on him.

Seline wasn't an idiot; she was enjoying this a bit too much. She leaned a tad bit closer, staring into Miguel's eyes fervently.

"I asked you a question, Miggy." Seline purred.

"Did you get it all out of your system then?" Miguel replied, although his eyes were glued onto Seline's lips.

"No," Seline stated, her eyes fluttering to Miguel's lips as well.

He was so easy.

"Oh." Miguel breathed out, and Seline decided to spare him.

"Keep it together, virgin." Seline stood up. "This is a dojo, not a porno."

Miguel sputtered, standing up as quickly as his legs would allow him.

"See you tomorrow, I  guess," Seline said, grabbing her things.

Miguel watched her walk away, his body effectively frozen for a moment.

What was that?

                                    ——

A/N: Miggy you got 30 seconds. I wonder if Seline is being genuine or not you never know with her unserious ass..
