Wind and Water
{Day 4}
Artemis gasped for air as his eyes snapped open, water and blood sputtered from his mouth, and soon his vision cleared enough for him to see his new savior.
His red hair was strewn across his eyes as he tried to focus on the man before him.
He didn't recognize the man, but when he saw the panicked golden eyes, he knew that he was a fellow god.
"Artemis!" The teal headed god gasped, tears seeming to come to his eyes as he bowed down and hugged Artemis as tight as he could.
"I thought you were dead!" The god shouted, his voice thick with worry and fear, but Artemis couldn't hear him.
We gave you those presents, Artemis could still hear Nemesis whispering to him, now use them!
Artemis nearly curled over in pain as his head began to throb. He whimpered softly, pushing the god away with a croak of pain.
"G-get away from me!" He cried, "I don't want to hurt you!" The God froze, his eyes going wide as he took a small step back.
"Artemis.." He whispered, his eyes lighting up with pain as Artemis began to cough harshly, spitting up a mouthful of seawater.
"I-" Artemis coughed, "don't wanna.." He wheezed, his arms shaking as he tried to hold himself up on his arms, but soon found that he could not.
He whimpered again and slumped onto the sand, his body limp as the teal-haired god swept him up into his arms, holding Artemis tight to his chest.
"I'm not gonna let you go again.." Artemis moaned softly at the words, his eyes flickered closed for a moment before he slumped against the god, sighing in content.
"Thank... Thank you.." He whispered before he clasped his eyes shut and let his mind drift away into sweet, sweet bliss.
---
Artemis heard the soft whispering of voices before he opened his eyes. The voices were surrounding him, hissing softly to one another like irritated snakes.
He moaned a little as he slowly opened his eyes, covering his eyes against the bright light of the light bulb above him. He murmured quietly to himself, words that he himself didn't even understand as his eyes adjusted to the light.
"Artemis!" The relived face of Balder was soon above him, his blue eyes gleaming softly as he stared down at Artemis.
Tears were in his eyes, and Artemis felt a small pain in his chest.
He murmured quietly, reaching up and trying to wipe Artemis's tears away.
"Don't cry.." Artemis rasped, coughing lightly at his own scratchy throat, wincing and whimpering a little as Balder whimpered in slight panic.
"Back away from him! Give him room!" Artemis winced at the angry voice of Thoth and soon found a pair of soft cocoa hands grasping him by his shoulders and helping him up into a sitting position.
Artemis moaned softly as pain gleamed throughout his body. He gasped a little, holding onto his stomach with a small curse as pain swirled there.
"Artemis? Are you okay?" Artemis looked up, his eyes going soft at the afraid look in Thoth's eyes.
He nodded shortly, coughing a little as he pushed the helping arms away. He had to get away from them, what if he hurt them?
He would never be able to forgive himself!
"I.." He croaked, his head starting to pound again.
"I...." He wheezed, the pounding was getting harder. He couldn't... Breathe!
He gasped for hair, clawing at his throat to try and ease the tightness in his throat, he couldn't breathe!
Thoth looked panicked, his eyes wide as he stared at Artemis's throat, his eyes widening.
"Get him to the ocean!" He yelled suddenly, picking up Artemis by his armpits and running out to the teal-haired god who grabbed him, running off to the beach.
Artemis choked, his vision starting to cloud as his breathing was cut off completely.
The god tossed him into the air into the ocean, and as he hit the cold water and sunk into the depths, he found that he could breathe.
He gasped again and again as water flushed into his lungs, somehow allowing him to breathe.
He coughed a few times and struggled, but soon found that he felt... Good.
He opened his eyes to see the ocean before him. The crystal waters reflected a beautiful blue, and created different shapes as he looked around.
"Artemis!" A voice cried. Artemis looked up to see Balder, his face just in front of the water.
'He looks like a good piece of meat...'
Artemis covered his mouth as he gagged at the thought. Tears came to his eyes and washed away with the water.
Without a second thought, he swam up to the surface and kissed Balder hard, holding onto his cheeks as he kissed him.
He sobbed as he let go, tears streaming down his cheeks before he sunk back down beneath the waves, feeling something catch at his anckle and start to pull him down further into the depths...
He stared up until he could see nothing but blackness, and then, he felt cool hands pulling him further down, a voice whispering into his ear, and hands covering his eyes.
He sighed quietly as he sank further below and closed his eyes, his body giving a flicker before he began to disappear.
A new god was taking his place.
He was no longer Artemis.
He was Deimos, the god of Terror.
