C1: The House On The Hill

The dragoness, Cassie, sighed while leaning against the wall as she waited for her friend, Jane, to finish her Friday afternoon detention. She noticed that some of the trouble makers began to exit the school building, including her ex, Burt.

Finally, Cassie noticed Jane. She isn't easy not to notice, with her brightly blue, purple and pink dyed fur. The canine smiled when she noticed her friend and quickly came over to her.

"Hey, Cass. I thought you already left without me." Jane said with some relief in her voice.

"And risk letting you chicken out. Not gonna happen." Cassie said.

"Shit. I was kinda hoping that you'd forget about tonight." Jane whined.

"Not gonna happen. We've been planning this for a month now. I'm not going to let you chicken out now." Cassie said.

"Fine." Jane sighed while rolling her eyes.

"You remember the plan, right?" Cassie asked.

"We go to your house first and grab what we need there. If your parents ask, you're going to sleepover at my house. then we go to my house and same story..." Jane replied.

"Then it's The House On The Hill." Cassie said excitedly.

"Do we have to? Why can't we just watch a horror movie instead?" Jane asked with a whine.

"Yes, we have to. Stop your whining and get on." Cassie said as she puts on her helmet before handing the spare one to Jane.

Jane sighed as she puts on the helmet before getting on the motorcycle after Cassie. She wraps her arms around Cassie's waist and leaned her head on Cassie's shoulder. Cassie revved her motorcycle before speeding off to her house first, breaking the speed limit along the way.

Jane's house was no sweat. She went inside and quickly stuffed everything they needed in her backpack. Her mother was in the kitchen and didn't ask any questions since she saw Cassie and knew the two usually spent their weekends at each other's houses.

Cassie's house was a different story however, since her parents are more involved. Her dad stopped them and asked a few questions, like every parent does after their child returns from school, before asking where they were going. Jane explained that Cassie was going to come sleepover at her house and he let them off the hook.

Cassie parked her motorcycle in the driveway of the old looking house. Jane and Cassie got off the motorcycle before putting their helmets away and grabbing their backpacks. They walked over to the front door of the giant house.

"Are you sure we're going through with this?" Jane asked as she looked up at the house towering in the sunset.

"Yeah." Cassie said with a bit of hesitation, but of course not showing it.

Cassie gulped nervously before reaching out towards the door and opening it. Ironically, the door was unlocked, but what was unironically is that the door didn't make a single creak. Cassie looked back at Jane who was right behind her before heading into the house with Jane following right behind her.

Cassie and Jane snapped on their flashlights and shone it around in the entrance hall. They began to slowly walk forward a while before Jane realised something funny about the house. She walked over to one of the kitchen counters and traced her finger on it. No dust, funny. Very funny, right?

"Hey, Cass. Have you noticed something funny about this place?" Jane asked.

"Yeah. The fridge is running." Cassie said as she opened the refrigerator.

"Oh my gosh. It's filled with food. We broke into someone's house!" Jane said as she began to panic.

"Get hold of yourself and stay quiet. They might be inside." Cassie said as she clamped her hand over Jane's mouth.

Jane nodded to indicate that she will stay quiet before Cassie let her go.

"What do we do?" Jane whispered.

"We leave. We pretend like this never happened, understood?" Cassie asked in a whisper.

Jane nodded and they went back to the front door. Just as Cassie reached out to open the door, the door handle began to turn. In their panicked state, the two girls quickly ran into different directions of the house before the door opened.
