"Remind me why I agreed to this?" I asked, pacing around the room. It was a couple weeks later, and Toby's friends were supposed to arrive any minute.

"Because they're totally deranged and we love them to bits." Toby responded, calmly placing a vase full of flowers on the table. How he was this calm right before meeting up with his friends, I have no idea.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Oh, that must be Wilbur- he said he'd be here earlier than the others, since he already lives close by- do you mind getting that, I need to go make sure the bathroom's been cleaned properly"

I nodded, wending my way over to the door. I opened it to reveal-

Holy mother Fucking shit. William?

"Avery- what are you doing here?"

" Live here. Please don't tell me you're one of Toby's friends."

"What's it to you?"

"I'm his sister, Will." I took a shaky breath, inviting my ex-boyfriend into my home.

"Do you plan on telling him?" Will asked, trying (and failing, I shook him off) to take my hand.

"No. He can never know. You know I would never let him lose you, right?" The words I left unspoken were very clear. 

The way I lost you.

"Listen, Avery- I broke up with her. It just wasn't working between us, and maybe-"

I cut him off. "Now you want to come back to me. Me, the girl you talked about marriage with. Me, the girl you left for some blonde, skinny girl who ended up breaking your heart. No, Will, it's too late for that."

"But Avery-"

"CUT THE ACT, WILL! You really think I would go running back to you, just like that? I spent a whole ass year trying to get over you, and I did! I am not letting you waltz back into my life like some great romantic tornado returning just to rip me apart again."

Wilbur's gaze had shifted, now looking at a spot just behind my shoulder. 

Oh no.

"Hi, Toby.."
