Chapter Seven
"Don't call him that."
Violet looked at Canna with a surprised expression.
"No one calls him that but me." Canna explained, glaring at her kidnapper. "And I swear if you lay a single dirty finger on him, I will stab you like there's no tomorrow."
"Except there will always be a tomorrow because tomorrow becomes today, creating an endless path of tomorrows." Violet giggled.
Canna scowled at her and stared at the big, safe-like door they had stopped in front of.
"I would stay quiet little bird. The serverus don't like noise, it hurts their ears." Violet said in a crookedly playful way.
Canna refused to respond and watched as Violet cupped her hands around her mouth, leaning toward a funnel on the side of the door, and whispered something. The door made a clicking noise and slowly whirred open.
"I want to make a deal with you, dearie." Violet said after quite a bit of silence. "Your loved ones for a promise."
"A promise..?" Canna questioned. "Is that why you brought me? To make a deal?"
"Well you see, sugar plum, you're a bit... different than most people." Violet said softly.
"I don't care anymore, where's my dad?" Canna practically shouted.
"Patience, dearie, stories first." Violet hissed waving toward a desk and two chairs that had appeared out of nowhere. "You and all the other children here each have something I desire. Several children have told me about the development of this... thing I crave, making my job easier. But now... now you're going to help me."
"Why would I help you?" Canna scoffed.
"Because if you don't I will immediately turn your father into a serverus." Violet said, grinning. "All I want is to know the other's capabilities. You five are particularly special. The moment I find your power source the sooner you're set free."
"How do I know you aren't scamming us?" Canna pried, her heart racing with anticipation.
Violet snapped her fingers and the room went dark. Suddenly, a strip of light appeared on the wall followed by several others till the lights fade back on.
"As you can see, I have them all captive, frozen in time. Waiting to be freed." Violet stated, glancing at her fingernails.
Canna took a step closer to one of them and gasped at the sight. It was a man with dark tussled hair, with brown eyes, and dark skin. His face was tear stained and tiredness was strained on his face.
"Daddy..." Canna practically breathed.
"Have you seen the others? Andrew's parents, Justin's dads, Jordan's cat?" Violet questioned.
Canna walked up to the next light to see a red headed couple hugging each other, fear plastered onto their face. The woman's bright green eyes were staring directly ahead, awaiting her fate and the man's hazel eyes showed anger.
"He wasn't pleased and put up quite a fight." Violet commented.
Canna walked to the next one to see an extremely fluffy white cat with a bright pink collar, studded with diamonds, and a licence that read "Mrs. Snuffles".
"They're all here except Vivien's brother. Where is he?" Canna questioned, looking up at her kidnapper.
"Being taken care of. He's here alright though." Violet said through gritted teeth. "So do we have a deal?"
"Explain it to me more." Canna demanded, she wasn't going to blindly agree to something, even if it meant her dad could be free.
"If you tell me when your friends start developing something strange, I'll let you and the loved ones go." Violet said with a frustrated sigh.
"I'll think about it." Canna mumbled, preparing to leave.
"No. I need an answer now." Violet spat, grabbing Canna's arm.
"Well the way you worded it was confusing! Let me think about it!" Canna shouted, her voice became a wail of distress.
"I WANT YOU TO TELL ME IF THEY DEVELOP POWERS, THERE, I TOLD YOU WHAT I WANT! NOW IS IT A DEAL OR NOT!" Violet screeched, her grip tightening and her nails digging into Canna's arm.
"Y-yes!" Canna squeaked, her intent of leaving doubling.
She felt her heart sink and knew right then what a bad decision she had made.
"Good little girl. Your daddy would be so proud of you!" Violet said cheerfully, nothing showed of the raging beast that had been there only seconds before.
"May I go now..?" Canna questioned.
"Yes, leave my pretty little Camara, but don't be surprised if we meet again soon." Violet giggled like a child. "Ta ta~!"
Violet waved her fingers at Canna and giggled madly as she ran out.
***
Canna slammed the door, gasping for breath as she listened to the many locks slide and click into place.
"The Canary is back in the cage!" Andrew shouted rushing into the main room.
"Yes, Canna is back. Woop Dee doo!" Vivien shouted sarcastically.
"Your just upset that you had to do Canna's chores." Justin shouted back.
"So what if I am! They're her chores! I'm not her mother!" Vivien snapped in reply.
"Oh would you guys shut up already! I'm trying to read!" Jordan whined.
"No one cares, Jordan!" The two said in unison.
"They are all pretty upset. Probably because you stabbed that muffin earlier and got us all in trouble but that doesn't matter!" Andrew blabbered quickly.
"Oh... ya... that..." Canna mumbled.
"Are you okay? You kinda went a little weird, one moment all angry and the next becoming a big pile of mush and then all of a sudden serious mcserious face and then boom, here!" Andrew continued.
"Those aren't even proper sentences." Canna said quietly, slowly walking to her room.
"They are now!" Andrew said cheerfully, following Canna.
"Do you have to follow me everywhere I go?" She groaned.
"Does Jordan have a probably bad obsession with cats?!?!" Andrew questioned.
"I don't have an obsession with cats!" Jordan shouted in reply.
"Yes you do!" Justin and Vivien shouted in unison.
"So I'm guessing that's a yes then..." Canna mumbled.
"Only you can prevent forest fires!"
"Shut up, Andrew!"
