How The Hell Did We Get Invited To The Party Of The Year?

Hey guys I'm obsessed with this song and Nathan Sykes' music and I just wanted you guys to listen to it if you like. P.S. He sounds amazing live. Now on to chapter two.

As the day dragged on Hazel was itching to get her book back. She needed to know what happened next. As soon as the last bell went off she sprinted as fast as Usain Bolt out into the hall and straight to Toby's locker. She fixed her glasses and hair as she waited for him. Five minutes later both Richard and Toby came walking down the hall. She then again fixed her hair as Toby opened his locker.

"May I have my book back please," she asked with a smile.

"Not till after practice." He smirked and winked.

Butterflies flew around as he winked at her. She then let out an annoyed groan as she realized she wasn't going to get it back for another two hours. Richard laughed and said, "C'mon Hazel it can't be that hard."

"I feel like a druggie suffering from withdrawal," she dead panned. Toby laughed. He loved it when she'd let out her humorous side. Richard left for practice leaving them alone. Hazel bit her lip and held her books close to her chest as she waited for Toby. "Are you busy Friday Night?" She asked. She really wanted to hang out with Toby. Alone.

Toby raised an eyebrow. Is this her little way of asking me on a date? He turned to face the cutie in front of him and looked down at her small figure. She looked up at him with her big, brown eyes and his smile grew even bigger. How could he say no to that face? "I'd lo...."

"Hey Toby," Madison, the class flirt, interrupted. "Are you busy Friday night?" She asked twirling her blonde hair with one of her well manicured fingers. She was dressed in a short plaid skirt and white button up. She also wore a vest the same color as her skirt. And long, white, knee-length socks. She obviously was trying to go for the school girl style, but it was just revealing, and weird. Hazel looked away and adjusted her glasses.  "It's my birthday and I would so love for you to go. Please?"

"Umm, I'll see you after practice Toby," Hazel awkwardly stated as she began to walk away.

"Oh you don't have to leave, you're.... invited to," Madison forced with a smile. She figured if she asked the class nerd, who happened to be Toby's friend, that he would come to.

"Seriously?" Hazel asked in shock and disbelief. "Can Christian come to?"

"Uh, if he wants then sure, I guess." Oh my gosh I hope this is worth it, Madison thought.

"Can we Toby?" She asked. He couldn't resist saying no to her and agreed.

"Great," Madison said with a flirty smile. "See you there Jones." She let her fingers trail down his arm as she strut away.

Hazel didn't like the fact that she couldn't be alone with Toby, or that Madison was making such moves on Toby, but she didn't mind a party. Maybe they could dance together, if that's what they still do at parties. Anyway she knew she had to tell Christian ASAP and ran off to see him.

Toby stood there disappointed. He was about to say yes till Madison came strutting in. He didn't want to say no to her cause he knew he would feel bad about it later. He didn't like letting people down and disappointing them. Especially since it was her birthday. He was shocked when he heard that Hazel and Christian were invited. They usually weren't invited to such parties. So why now? Maybe they grew to like Hazel? Whatever it was he was happy that she could go. Now he could see her instead of wishing she were there. Now I just need to find a way to stay away from Madison.

"Christian!" Hazel called. He turned around and saw her leaning on her knees out of breath.

"Hey Hazel wassup?" He asked taking in her lopsided glasses and flushed face.

"You'll never guess what just happened?" She said a bit breathless from her run.

"Tell me."

"You'll never believe it," she dragged on.

"Well don't leave me waiting," he said as curiosity rose inside of him. "Tell me."

"You and I, we got invited to a party!" She said excitedly. His jaw dropped and she laughed.

"What? Say that again I don't think I heard you correctly," he said in disbelief and cupped his hand around his ear.

"We got invited to a party!" She repeated a huge smile on her face. She adjusted her glasses and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Christian smiled and and let out a loud cheer.

"Shhhhhh," Hazel said and giggled a bit. A few people cast them odd looks before carrying on with their day. "It's Friday night. Can you come?"

"Hell yeah I can," he said happily. He straightened up and asked, "Will you be my date Miss?"

Hazel let out a light laugh and whacked his arm. "No, but we can go with Richard and Toby. I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving us a ride."

"I can't wait," he said excitedly and gave her a hug. "Hazel?" He asked as he placed his hands on her shoulders and held her at a close distance.

"Yes."

"How the hell did we get invited to the party of the year?"

She laughed and replied, "I don't know."

.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.

Christian and Hazel sat on the bleachers and did their homework together as they waited for football to end. Hazel cast occasional glances at Toby as he did drills that looked a bit pointless. Christian noticed and put his book away.

"Hazel," He started. "This is party is going to be the night you get Toby Jones to fall for you."

Hazel laughed and said, "Christian you are absolutely crazy. Toby doesn't like me like that."

"Are you kidding me he was totally flirting with you back at the cafeteria."

Hazel pursed her lips and thought about he was playing with her. He had done that everyday, teasing and playing with her. Is that flirting?

"OK say he did like me like that, hypothetically speaking, how do I, I don't know get him to show me?"

"Hazel you are making this so hard for yourself and it literally is frustrating for me. Why don't you believe me when I say he definitely likes you in that way?" Christian asked.

"It's the typical nerd crushes on popular, good looking guy.  I'm not pretty like other girls..."

"You mean looks wise?" Christian interrupted. "Hazel your cute. You're smart, and to be honest, guys don't like the whole acting dumb thing. You don't throw yourself at guys and respect yourself and body. You don't judge or change your physical appearance to please others because of what they say or think you need to look like. You're a catch and Toby is a lucky guy to have someone as amazing and cute as you."

Hazel was speechless. She was blushing and her mouth was shaped in a perfect o.

"So Friday after school you are coming over and my sister is going to make you look like a million bucks. Then you will walk in and he will finally come to his senses and ask you out. Alright?"

"Umm sure. As long as I don't have to wear a fancy schmancy dress."

So good, bad, ok, could be better? Please let me know I would love to hear your thoughts on it. So there is maybe like two or three chapters left in this short story.  I hope you're enjoying it so far. Also school starts on Tuesday. Ughhh!!! So I will not be able to update as quickly, but I will be writing and working on it so don't worry. Have a great day and see you soon. Maria (^^)
