-Chapter 08-

Alisson

"I'm sorry I swear I didn't mean it-"

"You said to me that you always mean what you say but how can you do this to me?" Her tears ran down her cheeks as she screams at me for what I've said and done. How could I do such a thing. . .she didn't deserve any of the pain.

"Please just let me explain–"

"No!" She cuts me off, her hands clenching tightly into fists, trembling at her sides.

"No. . .too much has been happening. . ." She trails off, her voice slowly breaking at every word she says.

"I just need more time. I need space." She says and runs off. I let her be. After all, she said she needs space.

Maybe I do too. . .

I close the book of Aiden, almost in tears, as I finish reading my quota of chapters for the day.

It's been 24 hours since I've talked to Aiden. I don't exactly know what I'm feeling right now. It just seems like my day was lacking of something. Some excitement. Something else to look forward to during the day.

Aiden was the one to give me that excitement.

Maybe I shouldn't have just ended the call immediately and used Cassidy's call as an excuse to avoid him that day.

I've decided I'm going to call him.
Otherwise I'm never going to be able to settle down easily with my thoughts.

I got up from the couch and went up to my room, trying to find my phone until I realize it was nowhere to be found. I must have misplaced it somewhere. . .

Suddenly our door bell rang, making me jump. I immediately go to answer it since mom is out grocery shopping and I'm basically left to guard the house alone.

I open the door to see no one but a basket with a boquet of lilies on the floor. With my phone beside it in the basket. What the. . ?

I look around to see who dropped it by our house but no one was to be found so I immediately take it inside and set it on our living room table to inspect it.
I took the lilies and smelled them. They are actually my favorite. Dad's favorite too.

I wonder as to who sent this when I saw a note inside the basket.

Hey, Your friend Cassidy said you left your phone at her place yesterday so she ended up snooping around your contacts and ended up calling me. She's a feisty one but she did told me you like lilies so I decided to ask her for a favor and buy some for you. Sorry again for last time, I understand if you don't want to talk to me.

-Aiden

As I read the note, I also noticed that the note was written almost in Cassidy's way of writing so I assumed she must have tried to make it look different. Plus she could've told me that I left my phone but of course she decides to snoop around my phone.

But nonetheless, it made me smile nonetheless.

I went up and placed the lilies in a vase when the front door opened, making me know that my mom has arrived from shopping.

"Well aren't those pretty, were they given to you?" Mom asks as she passes by me to go to the kitchen and set down the groceries.

"They're from a friend mom," I answer as I finalize the arrangements of the flowers and went to help mom with the groceries.

"Is by any chance your friend the Mr. Bookstranger person on your phone?" Mom asks as I caught a small glimpse of a smile as if she knew all along that I was talking to Aiden.

"Yes- I mean no!" I say immediately to correct my mistake. Too late now, she already knows.

"You know hun, you both aren't exactly quiet when you were making your calls at night. I could just hear your voice from across your room." She chuckles to which I respond with a groan.

"Mom he has my book and well, if I want it back I pretty much need to keep contact with him. He's out of town," I state as she smiles in response.

"You know, if your happy then I'm happy too. That's what your father would want as well."

"I know mom. I know," I say as I engage her in a hug, knowing how she gets when she talks about dad.

We then pulled away from the hug and I then say that I would be in my room, not mentioning that I would be talking to Aiden considering Mom kind of knows about him already, but I think she would already have a clue to why I'd be in my room.

As I try to find a comfy spot to sit on my bed, I go to find the contact of Aiden and ready myself to call him.

Breathe in, breathe out. Don't be nervous it's just a call. . .

Just a call. . .

I then pressed call.
