-Chapter 02-

Alisson

"This isn't my book!" The words immediately slipped out of my mouth before I had the chance to stop them.

"Is something wrong honey?" My mom asked, popping out from the living room.

"M-mom my book, it's not what it was before!" I exclaimed.
Surely at a loss for words, I mentally facepalmed myself for not getting my head together.

All my savings were gone on that book before! Now it just goes and dissapears on me and poofs back into another book! How dare it!

"Maybe you might have dropped it hun," Mom said, taking the different book from my hands and inspecting it.

"Maybe it might have the owner's name in it. It's obviously not yours. Maybe you might have accidentally swapped it," She softly said as a matter of fact.

"Maybe you're right mom. I just hope they find the page where my contact number is in," I said as I took the book back and went upstairs so I can change into clean and dry clothes.

As I was drying my hair with a towel, I stared at the book on my table like it was some kind of monster that was going to jump at any minute now.

Whatever that book did to my book, it better not have chomped it up like the Monster Book of Monsters in Harry Potter.

I went over to my table where the book is and observed it,

Meeting Her by Kent Aiton.

A romance type of novel.
I hope this isn't some John Green novel where the character gets killed the us, the readers, ends up being in tears.

I never heard of a Kent Aiton in the literature world so he must be new or just not well known yet.

I quickly flipped through the pages like I would do with a newly bought book. Trying to get the feel of this new book I have.
Though I still want my favorite book back.

As I inspected the book I came to an observation that it had no name of the owner. The book seemed brand new that maybe the person just bought it and wanted to read it directly in a day. At least that's what I would do.

I was about to turn on my laptop to investigate more about this book and the author when my phone suddenly ringed. Thinking it was April, I immediately answered.

"Hey girl! What's up?"

"Girl? Last I checked I was deffinitely a guy." A deep voice spoke from the other side of the phone.

"Wait you're not April..." I did a double take. Making sure I wasn't dreaming or anything.

"I'm most certainly not. Aiden Clinton at your service. That's an
A-I-D-E-N Clinton."

"I'm hanging up," I said bluntly. Stranger danger, gotta bid you later.

As I was about to hang up, this person name Aiden shouted 'wait!' so loud that I could hear his voice without even putting my phone to my ear. Though if I did, he would have blasted my ear drums off.

I placed my phone on speaker mode and set it on top of my table.

"Okay you can stop shouting now. I'll listen to you. Just go straight to the point," I said as I sat on my bed.

"Oh thank breadsticks and I thought I was making a fool of myself in front of my taxi driver." He says as I hear him faintly say 'sorry' to someone.

"Ok so-" he stops to clear his voice.

"So you're Alisson Lily Grace right?" He asks.

"Oh, no I'm an alien from a different universe," I said rolling my eyes knowing full well that he can never tell nor see. How does he know my name?

"Very funny. Well you see...I have your book-"

"Wait you have it?!" I exclaimed cutting him off.

"Yes. Man, give a warning when you're going to scream. You're going to make my ears bleed," He says in frustration.

"Says the one who screamed like his life depended on it," I muttered to myself.

"I heard that. Well you might have noticed that our books have swapped right?" He asked cautiously as of he's trying to walk on a land filled with mines.

"Mhmm.."

"Well I would love to return your book so I can have mine back."

"That's alright! When are you getting it?" I asked, just eager to get my book back. I can't lose it. It's the reason why I started reading novels.

"That's the problem. You see I can't exactly give it to you yet. . ." he trails off.

"Huh? Why not? Wait, you mentioned something about a taxi driver. Where are you?"

"Well you see, I'm going out of town for a week. Right now I'm on my way to the airport. If I go back now I might miss my flight." He says in a voice that might contain guilt.

"Oh..so what am I supposed to do with your book while I wait for you to come back after a week?" I asked as I laid down on the bed, trying to get comfortable.

"I'm glad you asked. Why don't we make the most of this book swap? You can read my book and I'll read yours. It's the opportunity of a lifetime! I haven't read Every Last Word yet." He says, probably intrigued at what's in the book.

"So in short, we're basically kind if like borrowing each others book so we can read them?" I asked, moving my eyebrows by habit.

"If you put it like that, yes. Though we're going to call each other every day from this day on."

"For what?" I ask as it puts me on edge, wondering why we need to call each other every day. This Aiden guy could be a serial killer for all I know.

"To talk about the book and get to know each other more," He states.

"Sounds good enough." I agreed to his proposal.

"Great! We'll start tommorow!" He says, his voice clear with excitement.

"Well then, talk to ya Aiden."

"Later, Alisson."
As he ended the call, Me who is on my bed stayed still, wondering exactly what I've got myself into until. . .

"Honey! Dinner is ready!" Mom yelled from down stairs, breaking my train of thoughts.

"Coming mom!" I yelled back.

Well if there's one thing I know, it's that food is always an available go-to stress reliever.
