Chapter 5: The Goo; ClaudiaSelene
After watching Amber clank down the hallway in her purple flats, we finally reach Miss. Wordsworth's class. We walk in, examining the brightly colored room. I sit in the back of the room and slam my feet onto the graffiti covered desk. I watch as Amber searches for an empty desk and luckily every desk around Eve is. I smirk as Amber happily takes the seat on the right of Eve. Eve looks up from her book and smiles at Amber and they begin to chat. I move my blonde hair out of my face and watch as a beautiful young witch walks across the room and starts to write on the board.
"Hello class. as you know I'm Mrs.Wordsworth.". Eve raises her hand immediately.
"Can I speak to Claudia?"
"Yes." Mrs. Wordsworth says calmly. I would have found it odd that she said yes, but I knew that the Wordsworths had been a family friend of the Callisters. Eve comes over to me and pretends to whisper, placing a note on my desk. The note says, 'Don't look her in the eyes, don't swear in your head, don't think rude thoughts. I'll explain later.' What an idiot. Everyone knows that when teachers say that they have eyes in the back of their head, or that they can read your thoughts, they just want you to obey them. It's the oldest teacher trick in the book. Whatever. I look into Mrs. Wordsworth's soft blue eyes. This teacher was so sweet and innocent. In fact, she looked so young, I was pretty sure I was gonna be able to do whatever the hell I wanted. How could she scare Eve? Mrs. Wordsworth walks over to me. "Claudia thinks she's SO cool." she says, smacking my feet off the desk. "No matter what you may think," She continues, snatching my backpack, and taking out three packs of gum. The gum rule isn't even enforced anymore! "You will not be able to 'do whatever the he'll you want this year." She says, in a perfect imitation of my voice as she quotes my inner thoughts. She turns and walks back to the front of the classroom.
"How...?" I ask.
"Quiet while the teacher's talking, Hagatha." I couldn't believe she knew the name they had called me in elementary school! After that she walks up to the front of the class room her heals clanking against the marble floors. She tortures me for the rest of class, saying everything that I was thinking aloud, as well as things she'd made up. She also tells us about her telepathy. She definantly hates me. That's the way I liked it. "Get out!" She yells, right before the bell rings. Everyone jumps out of their seats. Fifth period is PE. We're doing basketball. The only difference between basketball, and witch basketball, is that the hoop moves, and you have to use magic to guide the ball. PE is horribly boring, and I wish I had skipped. That night I get into bed, and immediately fall asleep. That's how bored I am.
"Get up CC!" BlueBell yells as she makes her bed, hoping to get a good spot in line in the dinning hall. I jump up out of bed, and rub my make-up stained face.
"Third day of this horrible school already?"
"Pretty much." BlueBell replies, now fixing her hair in the mirror. I glance over to the other untidy beds. Rosey is still sleeping, but Eve and Amber are gone. I quickly throw on my ugly black uniform and run to the bathroom to apply a fresh coat of eye-liner, when I notice something strange. A line of green goo is oozing out of the sides in the mirror. I knew they were up to something, those little brats!
I peek my head out of the door way and say, "Im going to take over the bathroom for a bit,"
Both girls, Bluebell and Rosey, who is now awake, give me a dirty glare and finally Bluebell says "Fine, do your business, but don't expect us to wait for you!" And with that, she and Rosey both leave for breakfast. I quickly run into the bathroom and lock the old wooden door. I look at the beautiful, gilded mirror. Now the goo is coming out faster. I cautiously walk towards it and knock on the sleek glass. I hear stomps coming down the spiral stair case, then just like the other night the mirror pops open and I'm drenched in the slimy green substance. The first face I see is Amber. She stares at me and then starts laughing.
"Come on in Claudia," Amber starts, grinning."We were expecting you," she says, with an ever louder and more obnoxious laugh. I look up at her and stare at her with that 'I'm going to kill you!' look that no one ever wants to get.
"Let me in!" I growl through gritted teeth, trying to calm down. Ambers smile instantly fades and she moves away from the small opening. I climb onto the sludge covered stairs and start up them, my combat boots sticking to each slimy step. When I reach the top I trudge through the slime into the once tidy, if not a bit dusty room. As I walk in I notice Eve scrambling all over the room using her telekinesis to move the slime. I walk to the middle of the sludge covered room and yell "What the hell happened in here?!" Eve goes over to the corner and sits in the gooless chair that she had just cleaned.
"Good morning to you too, Claudia." Eve replies sarcastically. She uses her powers to remove the go from me as well. Amber walks in and closes the beautiful victorian door behind her giggling.
"I asked you a question!" I demand.
"So, its actually a really funny story, we kinda sneaked in here while you were sleeping..." Amber starts.
"Y-Yeah, so much for 'I'm always awake'," Eve stammers.
"Well I was awake I just didn't want to come with you losers!" I lie, looking at my feet, embarrassed.
"Explains the snoring!" Eve retorts back.
"I was telling a story." Amber exclaims as me and Eve exchange annoyed glares. "What happened was that when me and Eve got settled up here we started to talk about potions, so we thought it was a good idea to make one. But I didn't know which one to make with such short supplies, so we found a book on the shelves and well..." Amber pauses.
"Spit it out!" I snap.
"Well we picked a random potion and made it partially, we didn't have wart of frog so we substituted pickled toe for it, And it backfired."
"Ya think?" I say, looking around at all the goo. "I wonder... Can I see the book?" I ask, looking around the room. Eve flicks her wrist and the leather book goes flying into my hands. I pick it up and look through it. "You idiots! This is a potions book for black magic witches! You could of gotten your selves killed!" I yell.
Eve smiles "But it was worth it!" "Yeah." Amber says glancing at Eve, happy that she had finally said something positive. I roll my eyes and put the book on the marble counter.
Then Eve starts up again" Oh no, look at the time we've gotta go!" She cries glancing at the cuckoo clock, that the school had given us after Amber showed her aptitude for inventory. Looking down at the goo, we decide that we would clean it up later. We grab our bags and run to the dining hall.
