Advise for my fellow writers!
I'm writing this in hopes I can help people out by saying what I do when I write.
Im definitely not a pro at writing stories but I like to think I'm decently good at it, so here we go!
1. How do I start a story?
I definitely need to plan it out before you publish ANYTHING.
When doing an OC insert story, I normally figure out the characters personality and background first. I then figure out what influence they would make on the anime/show.
Once I fully know and understand my OC, I go through the arcs of the story. For example, for bnha, I think about what the OC is going to do in her prologue, the entrance exams, Aizawas fitness test, almighty combat battles, USJ, sports festival, internships, the encounter with stain, etc.
It's very important to me that I figure out another plotline specifically for my OC.
If they dont have thier own plot like a rebellion against the villains who captured her/him or a love interest, then it would be kinda boring like your OC would be a side character instead of the main one.
2) How do I post more often?
Well, what I do is that when I have a new story is that I write a few chapters like 3 or 4, then when I'm confident in the storyline, I will edit typos'n'stuff then post the first chapter. I normally try to edit and post a chapter every week or two, so it has some consistency in updates.
Using this method, you can go a month without writing anything and to your readers, it will look like you have been working weekly, but in truth, you took a break in writing with the only work you're doing is maybe editing and pressing the publish button.
3) What do I do when I lose inspiration or dont feel like writing at all, but I should update.
Btw this is the scenario where you would use the method from #2.
I would rewatch a few of my fav episodes from that anime, watch animatics or AMV's about the charecters from the anime I'm writing about.
Jamming out to the theme song is really helpful too. For example, for tokyo ghoul: Unravel, glassy sky. BNHA: Literally any of their theme songs. Assassination classroom: Bye, bye yesterday.
I would also look at fanart of them or comics other people made.
4) How I remember important parts in my own story.
If I want to remember something like promises someone had made, lies they told, or things they have told others while they are trying to be secretive, then I would write them down on notability on my Ipad. You can use any note keeping thing on your device or write it on paper.
I find this very helpful.
5) A cool feature I use.
I'm always on Google Chrome. It has a feature where if you press the three dots that go vertical, then you will find a button that says 'find in page.' It will find any words or letters you type in.
I use this to fix things I decide to change like a person wearing a ring rather than a bracelet. I would search up 'bracelet', find all of them then change it as I go.
6) Just something I like to do.
I like to listen to music while I write. I normally listen to pandora, so most of the time it's not all the songs I will scream the lyrics of. When I write battle scenes I normally listen to hyped up music with a fast beat and when writing sadder scenarios or 'the feels' stuff I would listen to slower songs.
7) VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW!
YOUR HEALTH IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN A STORY!! If you feel like you need to take a break from writing then do that! Dont second guess yourself! Listen to your body! It's one thing to be lazy or staying up will one in the morning, writing your story. Thats ok if you can handle that.
If you are stressed out to the point you want to cry or something and feel like writing will be a burden or bad for you and your health, then DONT WRITE!
If writing feels like a stress reliever to you, then go ahead and do it. No one's stopping you!
--------------
I hope this helped some of you!
I'm very serious about number 7 though. Dont put more stress on yourself then you have to.
