"Your Grace, I assure you this plan is fool proof." The chancellor said to the Emperor.

"Get on with it, Ardyn." Growled the Emperor.

"Introducing my greatest project yet. Send him in!" The man called. The doors opened and a young man with blonde hair and dull blue eyes walked in to the room, stopping only when Ardyn gave the command.

"A boy?" The Emperor scoffed. Ardyn grinned and grabbed the young man's wrist, showing the barcode printed on it.

"A magitek? But it looks human." The Emperor stated curiously.

"Yes. Instead of fully transferring him to become a full MT, I left him just enough human to trick other humans and still magitek enough to receive and obey orders. I call him Prompto." Ardyn said, dropping the young man's wrist.

"He still has his blood, his heart still beats, yet he has the same amount of soul as a magitek. Broken as glass, awaiting my orders." Ardyn explained.

"What do you plan to do with this, Ardyn?" The Emperor asked.

"Simple, Your Grace. I send him in to Lucis, to Insomnia to assassinate the crown prince before he can take his throne. And with the proper and adiquate timing, Insomnia will fall and Lucis will be ours." Ardyn said with an evil grin. The Emperor mulled over the plan Ardyn proposed, looking over the young man curiously.

"Very well, Ardyn. I grant this. Give the orders." He said. Ardyn bowed.

"As you wish, Your Grace. Prompto." Ardyn spoke, turning to the blonde. The blonde's dead eyes locked on to Ardyn.

"You are to infiltrate Lucis, the Crown City of Insomnia and assassinate Crown Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum. Do not dispose of the body, let him be found, but do not be found guilty yourself. You are to complete this mission even if it costs your life. You will notify me as soon as it is done. These are your orders. Understood?" Ardyn asked.

"Yes, Chancellor." The dead, hollow voice from the boy sent shivers of fear down the Emperor's spine.

"Go." Ardyn ordered. Prompto turned and left the room. His mission was set, his destination Insomnia. His target, the prince.

As soon as he reached the boarder, he stopped. He looked around him and sighed in relief.

Prompto wasn't stupid enough to ever disobey Ardyn, but he wasn't quite "broken as glass" as Ardyn had put it.

Prompto admired the flower that had caught his eye. An Ageratum flower. He slipped his camera from his back pocket and snapped a quick picture of the flower. He smiled at the turn out, then sighed softly.

"I wish I could leave this all behind and just be a photographer." He thought. His blue eyes traced to his barcode. He frowned and pulled a leather brace he bought from the last town over the mark. He hated it. He hated the Emperor. He hated Ardyn. He just wanted to be free.

Tucking his camera away with a sigh, he continued on. Better do this mission and return before Ardyn got impatient. When Ardyn gets impatient, he gets angry. And when Ardyn gets angry, Prompto gets tied down and tortured. If he kept taking too long, it wouldn't be long before he really was broken as glass.

"Name." The immigrant office stated more than asked as Prompto filled out the paper work.

"Prompto." He said.

"Last name." They said. Prompto froze. They never gave him one. His mind traced back to the flower he took a picture of earlier. But Ageratum was too obvious.

"Argentum." He said quickly.

"Argentum? That's the best you could come up with? Really?" He yelled at himself in his mind.

"Look in to the camera, Mr. Argentum." The person said. He did and his picture was taken. After a few minutes, a passport and Lucian identification card were given to him.

"Keep these on your person at all times, enjoy your new life in Lucis, Mr. Argentum." The woman said. Prompto uttered a thank you and stepped past the boarder and continued out of the station.

Once back in open air, he looked at his ID card. He smiled softly.

"Maybe..." he hummed. He shook his head quickly.

"What are you thinking?! If you run away he'll hunt you down and he'll kill anyone to get you. Don't be stupid, Prompto. Just go kill the prince and get back... too bad... Lucis is pretty." He thought. He felt sad. Soon the Emperor would destroy all of this and he was part of this plan.

Prompto sighed and turned towards Insomnia.

Time skip.

Prompto stood in line along with other men around his age. They were lined up in a room at the palace. Some sort of service jobs to the prince were opened up at the palace and Prompto as well as the other 24 men here were deemed the most eligible for the job. Apparently the preliminary judges had all been impressed with his gunmanship.

He recognized two of the judges. Their names were Ignis and Gladiolus. He knew Gladiolus was the Prince's bodyguard. He'd have to get him to trust him with the prince. He knew Ignis was the Prince's advisor. He was going to be the hard one to get past.

The doors opened and in walked a woman wearing a bandana and had bright red hair with sparkling blue eyes.

"Hello there, fellas. I'm Alice Schwartz. I am the third retainer to Prince Noctis, his field medic and assistant. I know you all have met my companions of the retinue, Gladiolus Amicitia and Ignis Scientia. If you have not met either of them, then you are excused from this exam and you may return home." She said. Five men slowly left the room. Alice tapped her foot and stared at the remaining 20.

"So you are all the ones that truely passed the exams. I hope you all know what an Honor this is to be considered for this job. I am required to tell you of the duties you will be given should Prince Noctis choose you for this job. You are to be another guard for the prince. You will take part in daily training with Gladiolus and receive daily duties from both Ignis and myself. You will follow the orders you are given. After an amount of failure with out probable cause, you will be dismissed as the previous seven have." Alice said.

"Seven?! Either they're just as strict as Chancellor Ardyn or the others really sucked." Prompto thought.

"That being said, I am not the one evaluating you today."

"What?!"

"I am only going to be leading you away for physical examinations when the top 5 are chosen. I hope you all are prepared, today you meet Prince Noctis." Alice said. Prompto's heart began to rush. Meeting him so soon?

"Only speak if the Prince addresses you directly. If you initiate conversation, you will be dismissed. Your job is to protect His Majesty, not be his friend. Am I clear?" She asked. The men all nodded at once. Alice stepped back to the doors and disappeared through them with Ignis and Gladiolus. Leaving a man named Cor Leonis watching them.

Prompto knew Cor to an extent. Years ago, when Prompto was a child, Cor had tried to save him along with multiple other children, but Prompto had been yanked from Cor's grasp at the last second and the choice was leave Prompto and save ten others or lose ten others and save Prompto.

You guess his choice.

Cor was currently staring hard at Prompto, as if trying to figure out who he was. Prompto didn't let any signs of recognition show on his face. He remained still with the other men in the room.

The door squeaked open and Gladiolus and Ignis stepped in and waited a moment. Then Alice stepped with a third man.

Prince Noctis.

Prompto's heart jumped when he saw the Prince.

He was beautiful. Too beautiful. Prompto really had to end this man's life? It would be such a shame, the world losing such a gorgeous man.

Noctis walked along the line of men, Alice trailing behind him with a clip board. Noctis examining each man with his eyes, no emotion showing on his face.

Noctis stopped when he came to Prompto. Full stop, not a passing pause he gave to the others. His stormy blue eyes met with Prompto's.

"Am I blushing? I'm blushing aren't I?" Prompto thought.

Noctis reached up and grabbed Prompto's face. Noctis moved his head gently, examining him a little more closely than he had the others.

Noctis's free hand grabbed Prompto's arm. Prompto had to fight the urge to tense up and merely let the Prince touch him. His hand slid down Prompto's arm, squeezing the muscles softly from time to time.

He released Prompto and stepped back, whispering something to Alice. She gave him a surprised look.

"Something wrong?" The prince asked.

"Oh gods, that voice." Prompto thought.

"No." Alice responded instantly. She flipped a page on her clipboard and wrote something down on the underlying page.

Had he done something wrong? Did the Prince not like him? Did he know something was wrong? Was Prompto busted?

Noctis continued his silent examination of the men, stopping at only a few others before reversing down the line, stopping before Prompto once again and merely staring in to his eyes. He whispered something to Alice, who nodded.

"As you wish." She said. Prince Noctis hummed and continued down the line, then shook his head. Alice nodded and Noctis left the room. Alice turned to Gladiolus, Ignis, Cor and a fourth man. She spoke silently to them.

"Sylvain Herpin, follow me." Cor called after Alice finished. A man with dark brown hair and dark skin followed Cor.

"Orio Sicilia, with me." Gladiolus called. A large man with platinum hair followed.

"Sven Lund, follow me." Ignis called. A man with light brown hair and pale skin followed.

"Amphyx Rines. With me." The fourth man said. Alice followed out the fourth man and Amphyx. She stopped at the door.

"The rest of you wait here unless otherwise told by me or the others." Alice ordered, then left the room. Prompto's heart fell.

The other 15 and himself were going to be dismissed soon, he knew it.

Alice soon returne to the room.

"Here it comes." He thought.

"Prompto Argentum?" She called. Prompto stepped forward.

"Follow me." She said. Prompto was confused, but followed Alice out, she paused on the other side of the door.

"A moment." She said. She re-entered the room, but was back as soon as she was gone.

"Sorry for the delay, follow me." She said. He nodded and followed her for a little bit. She stopped and turned as they reached a door. Prompto stopped and stared down at her. She grabbed his chin and arm the way Noctis had before.

"Damn it, he's right." She cursed.

"Is something wrong, Miss?" Prompto asked. Alice shook her head.

"Nope. In here." She said, leading him in to the room before her. Prompto was expecting an examination room.

Not a bedroom.

"Wait, is she going to seduce me?!" He panicked slightly. Alice stepped to a side of the room and set aside her clipboard and picked up some material. She returned to Prompto.

"Put this on and sit in the center of the bed." She said. He took the soft material.

"After you change, just set your clothing on the dresser." She said and headed for the door.

She stopped at the door in thought. She hummed softly for a moment.

"Prince Noctis will be in shortly, just be patient, Mr. Argentum." She said and stepped out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Prompto unfolded the cloth and stared at it.

"Is this a maid's outfit? Why does he want me in this?" He wondered, but changed in to it anyways. Prompto felt embarrassed as the outfit was too small and didn't cover him completely.

Maybe this was a test of his ability to follow orders. The others may have had to dress in something just as rediculose.

Prompto folded his clothing up and set it where Alice had told him to and then sat in the center of the bed as he was told. He didn't know how long he waited. He played with the leather brace on his wrist to pass the time.

"I knew you'd look cute in that."

The voice sent shivers up Prompto's spine. He looked up and saw Prince Noctis standing in the door way. He hurried to stand until Noctis held up his hand, stopping his movements.

"Stay right where you are." He said. He shut the door behind him and he moved towards him. Prompto watched him. Noctis knelt on the bed before Prompto and cupped his cheek with his hand.

"You're a quiet one." He said.

"A-Alice told us not to speak unless you initiated a conversation with us." He said. Noctis chuckled.

"Of course. No worries. Alice's bite is worse than her bark." He said. Prompto stared at him in confusion.

"Isn't the term "bark is worse than her bite"?" Prompto asked. Noctis raised an eyebrow.

"You think a woman who's tongue is sharper than her sword would ever be one of my retainers?" He asked. Prompto shook his head. Noctis smiled and turned Prompto's head to the side.

"You look too good to just be sitting there. Prompto, was it?" He asked.

"Y-yes- Ah!" Prompto gasped when Noctis suddenly bit his neck. He sucked on the tender skin and dragged a moan from Prompto's mouth.

"What... what are you-?!" Prompto didn't get to ask his question as Noctis suddenly kissed him roughly.

That started a long night of...

Well, Prompto couldn't call it just fucking, Noctis was too gentle for it to be just a single night of persuing pleasure. But could he really call it love making when he was sure that it wasn't love at first sight?

Was it?

No, it couldn't be. But...

Noctis had been so gentle with him. He hadn't forced him to do anything and had even asked him plenty of times if he wanted to stop. It had felt too good for Prompto to say no.

Prompto wasn't sure if either of them had slept that night as Noctis had made love to him in to the earliest hours of the morning.

The sun had just broken the sky when Noctis finally fell to his side, panting hard. The prince pulled the blonde to his heaving chest. Prompto rested his head on Noctis's chest.

"Damn, you're the best I've had in a long time. Maybe ever." Noctis said when he finally caughted his breath. The prince looked at the man on his chest. Prompto looked away from his gaze and blushed.

"How would you like to be my lover?" Noctis asked. Prompto's head snapped up.

"Wh-what?" He stuttered. Noctis sat up, still holding Prompto.

"You're plenty fit to be a my newest guard, but I really don't want to share you with the others. I want you all to myself, Prompto. So, be my lover. You'll live here in the palace with me, we'll have meals together. Well, we probably won't have sex every night, but you'd be in my arms every night." Noctis said, stroking Prompto's cheek.

Alone. Every night. With Noctis. His mission. It was perfect. Prompto bit his lower lip.

"Why.. why me?" He asked, not meeting Noctis's gaze.

"Do you believe in love at first sight, Prompto?" Noctis asked. Prompto's head snapped up.

"The second I stepped in to that room and saw you, you took my breath away. And when I stood there examining you... how soft your skin is, how firm your arms are... and your beautiful eyes. Iggy is always going on about Alice's eyes, but I think if he looked at your eyes, he'd shut up. You have the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen in my life. Be mine, Prompto." Noctis almost begged out the last words.

"B-but what about your father? Will he even approve?" Prompto stuttered out. Noctis played with Prompto's hair.

"Ever since the accident that cost Lady Luna her life, my father told me to find a lover. As long as I'm happy he'll approve. Please, Prompto. No more excuses. Be mine. Please say you'll be mine." Noctis begged, his stormy blue eyes piercing in to Prompto's ocean blue eyes.

"We hardly know each other." He said.

"What am I doing? If I just agree I'll be able to finish my mission and Ardyn won't..." Prompto shuddered at the thought. Noctis pulled him closer, thinking he was cold.

"Then we'll get to know each other. Please don't make me beg, baby. Be mine." Noctis whispered the last two words in Prompto's ear. Slowly, Prompto nodded. Noctis smiled a heart melting smile and stroked a stray strand of hair from Prompto's forehead before pecking a kiss to his forehead.

Time skip.

Prompto was starting to get fidgety. He had been here for months and yet every moment he had alone with Noctis was interrupted by Noctis's busy schedule as Prince. And any other time? Well, Noctis would bite that one spot on his neck and he'd be too weak to go through with the mission.

However, Prompto had received a call from Ardyn the other night. A threat to finish the job or else. The "or else" had made Prompto lock for a long time after the phone call. Noctis had walked in and seen him frozen and worried. Prompto assured him it was nothing, just a call from his father.

Over the months, Prompto had gotten to know Noctis, Ignis, Gladiolus and Alice. Noctis had told Prompto he loved him multiple times. Prompto had found he enjoyed Noctis's company even outside the bedroom. The four were perfect models for Prompto's pictures. He enjoyed watching Gladio and Noctis spar. He liked helping Ignis cook, especially when making sweets for Noctis ("sweets for my sweet!" He'd say every time he delivered the sweets, earning a smile from Noctis everytime.) and he loved joking around with Alice.

Alice had surprised him with the jokes and carefree nature given the way she acted when they first met. She had told him that was a front she put on for the exams. If they couldn't handle taking orders and intimidation from a woman, they had no place protecting Noctis. In truth, she loved to mess around and goof off. And she actually loved taking her small scouting missions around the kingdom outside of Insomnia.

But Prompto had to move and soon. He had to do it. He had to kill Noctis today or be subjected to Ardyn's torture again. He could already feel his arms being chained and the first pricks of pain on his skin, creating a burning sensation.

He strode towards Noctis's personal study. Noctis would only let Ignis, Gladiolus, Alice and Prompto in there. No one else was allowed to enter while Noctis was in there.

"Prom? What's up? You seem determined." Alice asked as she almost ran in to the blonde.

"Oh.. I uh... I just need... some... alone time with Noct." Prompto said with a small nervous blush on his cheeks. Alice smirked, thinking she knew what he meant.

"Right. You head to his study, I'll keep Gladio and Iggy away until you're done." She said with a wink. Prompto blushed and continued to the room.

He tugged open the door and stepped inside, closing it behind him and locking it. Noctis looked up.

"Hey, babe. Something wrong?" Noctis asked, looking over the love of his life. Prompto looked away, a pain in his chest growing. Noctis turned his chair and held his arms open.

"Come here, angel." Noctis said. Prompto started walking to Noctis, kicking off his boots and loosening his belt and dropping his pants and stepping out of them. Noctis smirked, knowing that Prompto was attempting to seduce him. Prompto sat in Noctis's lap and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Noctis pushed Prompto's jacket from his shoulders, delighted to find he wasn't wearing a shirt under it.

Behind Prompto's back, he summoned his gun. Prompto deepened the kiss to destract Noctis.

This was it. In only a few minutes, Prompto's mission will be complete. Noctis would be dead at his desk and Prompto would be long gone by the time anyone found him.

Noctis's fingers dusted up and down Prompto's torso, making him gasp and Noctis pushed his tongue in to his mouth and deepening the kiss further.

Noctis kept one hand on Prompto's thigh, and wrapped his arm around his waist. Noctis grabbed Prompto's wrist and felt the gun in his hand. Noctis broke the kiss.

"What are you doing with a gun, angel?" He asked softly. Prompto remained silent.

What was he doing? He loved being here. He loved cooking with Ignis. He loved training with Gladio. He loved joking with Alice. He loved taking pictures of them all. He loved the view of the city and he loved the people in it.

But most of all, he loved Noctis.

It wasn't just acting for a mission. Every soft touch. Every sweet kiss. Every tender moment. Every dance. Every cute nickname. Every "sweets for my sweet."

He meant it all. He loved Noctis with all his heart. He didn't want to kill Noctis. He didn't want Noctis to die. He wanted this to be his life, with out the threat of torture.

Prompto began to cry. No, he was sobbing. He bit his lip to stop the crying. Noctis panicked.

"Prompto?! Oh, baby, don't cry. What's wrong? Come on, babe, you can tell me." He said, wiping away Prompto's tears.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry." He cried. Noctis shushed him and hugged him tight.

"Tell me what's wrong." He said. Prompto hiccuped and stuttered, unable to form a coherent sentence. Noctis rocked Prompto in attempts to calm him down, whispering sweet words in his ear and kissing his cheeks to calm him down. Finally, he was calm enough to speak.

"I-I'm from N-Niflheim.... I'm an a-assassin s-sent by Chancellor Ardyn Izunia t-to ki-kill y-you." Prompto cried. Noctis was shocked in to silence.

"You were supposed to kill me?" He asked. Prompto nodded, still crying.

"What-"

"I can't... I can't do it... b-but I h-have to... I have to k-kill you... or he's go-gonna k-kill me." Prompto cried, his cries evolving in to sobs once again. Noctis hushed him.

"Let go of the gun, baby." He whispered in Prompto's ear. Prompto slowly let go of the gun. It fell to the floor with a clunk. Noctis let go of Prompto's wrist and held him. Prompto sobbed in to Noctis's shoulders.

"I don't want to! I don't want to do it, Noctis! I want you to live! I want to stay here with you! I want to be friends with Alice and Iggy and Gladio and I want to be yours! I want to be with you!" He sobbed. Noctis rocked Prompto and hushed him soothingly.

"Shhh, shhh, calm down, baby. It's okay." He said.

"No. No." Prompto cried, clinging to Noctis's shoulders.

"Prom, look at me." Noctis said. Slowly, Prompto pulled away and looked down at Noctis.

"You don't need to worry. I won't let Ardyn touch you. You won't have to go back. I just have to talk to my Dad and-"

"No! No, Noct, don't you get it?!" Prompto interrupted. He tore the leather brace from his wrist and showed Noctis his barcode.

"I can't! No one will trust me! I can't!" Prompto cried. Noctis grabbed his wrist and kissed the barcode. Prompto froze as he did.

"I trust you, Prompto. So you need to trust me. I will protect you. Come on, put your pants back on. Let's go tell Dad everything you just told me. We'll keep you safe. I promise." Noctis promised. Prompto buried his head in his lover's neck and cried.

Time skip.

"Did you hear? Apparently the Chancellor of Niflheim sent an assassin to kill Prince Noctis."

"By the six!"

"But! The assasssin betrayed the Chancellor! He refused to kill Prince Noctis and told His Majesty everything!"

"Oh, come on, Chelsea, get the story right! The assassin fell in love with Prince Noctis and couldn't kill him and betrayed Niflheim!"

"Perhaps you ladies could stop gossiping and get our food?" Alice asked. The three waitresses squealed and ran off to return to their jobs.

"It seems Noctis and Prompto are making quite the waves." Ignis commented. Alice sighed.

"No kidding. I'm just relieved that His Majesty was able to work something out with the Emperor. I hope we can get front row seats to Ardyn's execution." Alice said.

"Prompto seemed awfully nervous about the Treaty signing." Ignis said.

"What do you expect? The poor boy came here under a death-or-death threat. He's going to be jumpy for a while." Alice said.

"Still, I think he doesn't fully trust the Emperor." Ignis said.

"Would you fully trust anyone that allowed someone to give you a direct order to kill your lover?" Alice asked. Ignis smiled.

"Fair enough, love." He said. Alice glanced passed his shoulder.

"Ugh, would Noctis just propose already? Seriously, they've just been making goo-goo eyes at each other and kissing for the past twelve minutes." Alice groaned.

"You shouldn't rush things,
darling." Ignis chuckled at her.

"But my OTP, Ignis." Alice said in an equal tone.

Finally, Alice saw Noctis go down on one knee before Prompto. It was a good thing that Gladio was seated behind her and placed a hand over her mouth, other wise her excited scream when Prompto said yes would have destroyed the restaurant.

The End.
