Third Person P.O.V
Sinbad tightly holds (Y/N)'s hand as they start plummeting down, Eris' creatures hissing as they fall past them. His eyes widen at the sight of the ground, (Y/N) shutting her eyes tightly and blocking her face as he tries to cover her face as well with his arm.
Both open their eyes when they don't hit the ground, their bodies hovering above the sand.
"Huh?" Sinbad mumbles, getting to his feet and helping (Y/N) up.
The sandy ground moves in wave-like motions, the wind whistling.
(Y/N) yelps and staggers as the ground shifts beneath them, the two falling and rolling backwards.
A wooden, destroyed, hollowed ship creaks roughly as it was thrown their way by the sand-waves, Sinbad wrapping an arm around (Y/N)'s waist and tugging her with him as he moves away from it.
They both land roughly in the sand, (Y/N) landing on her hands and Sinbad setting a hand over her body to the other side as he looks around with narrowed eyes.
The sand lowers, revealing thousands of stone soldiers all around the rock Sinbad and (Y/N) were on.
The statues were once again buried, Sinbad rising quickly and grunting as he grabs (Y/N)'s arm and waist, pulling her up before she could also be swallowed by the sand.
She smiles to him in thanks before her gaze moves ahead, her eyes widening at the sight of large stone ruins uncovered. A pounding footstep makes her look back swiftly, Sinbad's arm curling around her protectively as Eris' creatures begin to surround them.
(Y/N) takes out the dagger Kale had given her before from her boot, holding it out as Sinbad looks around with narrowed eyes.
The creatures bellow as they circle the two, Sinbad unsheathing his swords and aiming them at any creature that got too close.
"Now, now, my pets..." Eris' voice chastises, a dust devil swirling around (Y/N) and Sinbad as the creatures were pulled away by it. "Is this any way to treat our guests?"
Sinbad grunts as his swords were yanked away by the wind, (Y/N) quickly tucking the dagger back in her boot as she grips Sinbad's arm with her other hand.
The sand starts to disappear, revealing the full stone ruins and a large throne up a set of stairs.
"Okay..." Sinbad lets out a quiet, nervous chuckle. "I'm severely creeped out."
"Yeah, yep, me too," (Y/N) agrees.
"Bravo," Eris slowly claps as she appears from the sandstorm, smirking. "No mortal has ever made it to Tartarus before."
She lets out a chuckle, leaning on the throne next to the skeleton of the King.
"Alive, that is." She laughs again, the skeleton disappearing as she takes the throne seat. "Make yourself at home."
(Y/N) forces a grin, though her expression was still mildly frightened as she slowly waves to Eris.
Eris cocks an amused brow at her, Sinbad nervously laughing as he rubs his neck.
"Thank you. Uh... nice place you got here," he clears his throat, looking around the ruins.
"Like it?" Eris muses, floating forward with a smirk. "I'm planning on doing the whole world this way."
"Oh. That's... um..." (Y/N) stops herself from talking, swallowing thickly.
"Good-- good plan," Sindbad claps his hands together, rubbing them. "Well, I see you're busy, so listen, we'll just take the Book of Peace and get out of your way."
Eris lets out a chuckle, an innocent smile on her face. "What makes you think I have it?"
"Uh, well." Sinbad pretends to think. "You framed me for the theft. So... they would execute me."
"You?" Eris muses again, smirking and raising her brows.
"Yeah," Sinbad agrees with a nod.
(Y/N) watches Eris, Eris' smirk growing as her eyes flicker to (Y/N).
Her eyes widen with realization. "Not you... my brother. You knew!"
Sinbad's face falls as he blinks rapidly. "You knew he would take my place."
"What a clever little match you are," Eris praises and drags her finger on a pillar, making it crumble under her touch.
"You thought I'd run," Sinbad continues, (Y/N) shaking her head in disbelied. "Then Proteus would die... and Syracuse would be--"
"Left without the next rightful King and tumble into glorious Chaos," Eris finishes, the pillar collapsing behind her. "You humans are so predictable."
Eris floats over to the two, clasping her hands together. "Proteus couldn't help being ever so noble! And you couldn't help but foolishly try to save him, for (Y/N)."
She laughs wickedly, (Y/N) scowling as she looks up at Eris.
"Sinbad came here on his own!" she firmly says, crossing her arms. "I just... gave him a push."
"And you left your fiancé Olfie behind," Eris adds as she smirks, turning to Sinbad as she shoves (Y/N) to him. "Olfie is back home waiting for her, and here you are, moving in on his girl."
Sinbad looks down at (Y/N) with widened eyes, (Y/N) looking back up at him with saddness and unsureness.
"Face it, Sinbad..." Eris chuckles wryly. "Your heart is as black as mine."
(Y/N)'s gaze hardens as she turns to Eris, stepping in front of the man as she defends him. "You don't know him! You're wrong!"
Eris clicks her tongue. "He knows I'm not!"
"How could you possibly know what's really in his heart?" (Y/N) demands angrily, shaking her head. "You don't know anything!"
"Oh, yes I do," Eris chuckles, her hair floating gently. "And more importantly, so does he."
She pushes (Y/N) away as she circles Sinbad. "In your heart, you know that Proteus is going to die. Because he and (Y/N) see something in you that just... isn't... there!"
Eris lightly hits the back of his head, Sinbad jerking away from her.
"No," he confidently disagrees, scowling.
"You want to bet?" Eris questions with amusement, a wide smile on her face as she shrugs. "I'll tell you what. Let's play a game. And... if you win, I'll give you the Book of Peace."
The ruins crumble around them, only leaving the flooring and a bridge leading to the Book of Peace floating in the air.
"There it is, noble hero!" Eris chuckles.
Sinbad goes to cross the bridge, the floor beneath him crumbling slightly. (Y/N) quickly pulls him back as the chunk of stone falls where his foot once was, Eris tsking.
"Ah-ah-ah! Not so fast. My game has rules, Sinbad." Eris appears behind Sinbad, smiling. "I'll ask you a question. One simple question." She taps his nose. "If you answer truthfully, the Book is yours."
Sinbad watches her float up, his eyes narrowing. "Give me your word."
"You still don't trust me," she coos mockingly as she pouts.
"Uh..." Sinbad pretends to consider it, scoffing as he looks to Eris. "No."
"Nope." (Y/N) agrees in unison with the man.
Eris sighs heavily, rubbing her temple. "Isn't it a pity we live in such skeptical times?" she mutters to herself, groaning. "Oh, all right. You have my word..." She uses her finger to scratch a glowing blue 'x' on her heart. "As a Goddess. Fair enough?"
(Y/N) looks up at Sinbad in concern, making him look back with a reassuring smile as he nods and steps forward.
"Ask your question," the man urges with a nod.
"Excellent!" Eris claps, floating over to the Book. "Now, we all know what happens if you get the Book of Peace." She opens it, the brilliant light shining. "You return it to Proteus and save Syracuse," she mocks the last part, smirking and shutting the Book.
"But if you don't get the Book... you have a choice to make," Eris goes over to Sinbad and (Y/N), circling the two. "Either sail to paradise with the woman of your dreams... or return to Syracuse to die. You're either a thief or a hero. So... here's my question, Sinbad."
Eris floats upward. "If you don't get the Book... will you go back to die?" she slowly questions, her form vanishing.
(Y/N)'s heart sinks in her chest, Sinbad's eyes wide as his breathing picks up lightly at the ultimatum. He looks behind him to (Y/N), her brows furrowed sadly as she watches him.
Sinbad exhales heavily through his mouth, taking a tentative step forward. "I will go back."
(Y/N) believes him, the woman's expression softening as she nods encouragingly. Sinbad looks down as he takes another step, the ground not crumbling or giving out. He takes a few more steps closer, reaching the Book.
He reaches his hand out, and...
"You're lying!" Eris cackles as she appears behind him, the ground breaking apart beneath his feet and (Y/N)'s.
Sinbad tries to grab the Book, missing as he and (Y/N) yell and plummet down below. Eris laughs wickedly as she watches the two fall, the Book returning to darkness.
