The Exception

Much as it pains me to admit it, some guys could pull off the mullet. Jon Stevens of Noiseworks was just such a guy. Which, on the face of it, you might argue is a good thing. After all, you might say, if there's a mullet that doesn't make your eyes bleed, shouldn't we be glad?

And the answer to that, young grasshopper, would be an emphatic no. No, we should not be glad. We should be sad. Sad and afraid. Safraid, maybe?

Because while good old Jonno may have had the jawline to pull off pretty much any hairstyle he chose, the countless number of poor young lads who saw the above music video and thought to themselves, "Yeah, that would look good on me," and were subsequently proven to be so very, very wrong in that assumption are testament to the very real danger posed by the alleged 'good' mullet.

There is no such thing.

So, while on a purely aesthetic basis, Mr Stevens may have been hovering around an 8 on the Mullet-O-Meter™, on the basis of disservices to humankind his score gets downgraded to a still creditable 6.

Having said that, upon further reflection, the guy did sing one of the finest Aussie rock songs of the 80s. Let's call it a 7.
